Reborn in another world as a Hermaphrodite

Chapter 143 More Studying!!!

"Look, try to think of this like a pyramid. If you have five sides——"

"What's a pyramid? Camille curiously asked before Alex could finish.

"Miss Amy taught that first thing we got to class. How can you forget about that?"

As Evelyn facepalmed in disbelief towards Camille, Alex took out a pack of coloring pencils before starting to draw it out on the paper.

"Think of it as just a bunch of triangles connected like this... Three fire elements and one earth element for a fireball."

Looking down, there were red points at each corner and a brown core in the middle with all the red lines connected to it.

"I already know this. I just don't remember it when it became the more complex ones with those weird arrangements." Camille complained.

"Don't worry about the complex ones. Just remember the basic ones first. Keep practicing it by drawing this ten times."

As Alex handed the colored pencil over, Camille reluctantly accepted it and started scribbling over her note paper.

"How is this going to help me...."

"Alex, you sure this is going to work?" Sophia quietly asked as she pulled him to the side.

"Trust me. That's how I learned it before. It's just like math or any other lesson. Keep practicing it until you write it out of instinct."

After a few minutes had passed, Camille had finally finished scribbling the 'pyramid' on her paper.

"Here, I did it."

"Not good enough. You need to redraw it. I want to see the lines that connect the dots clearly and well-defined.

If you don't want to take this seriously, then there's nothing I can do to help you."

"Okay, okay."

As Camille took her paper and started redrawing again, she was spending more time around the pyramid corner.

More importantly, rather than handing it in right away, she started drawing another one as if she wasn't satisfied with the one she had made.

"Here, is this one fine?"

"A lot better. Now close your eye and try to draw it."

"What?"

Alex's demand caught Camille and the other girls off guard, but Camille still went along with it.

With her eyes closed, she began drawing on the paper again, slowly moving her colored pencil as she drew a red triangle.

As she switched the color pencil to brown, the red triangular outline was surprisingly accurate for a pyramid.

"Am I done?" Camille asked as she stopped her pencil.

"You decide. You have to have a look yourself."

Opening up her eyes, Camille was a little surprised herself, as the pyramid was right before her, albeit with the brown core a little off-center.

"That's so good for a full blind picture." Evelyn complimented.

"Really?"

Seeing Camille starting to look a little happy, Alex didn't give her time to celebrate as he handed her another blank sheet of paper.

"Now draw a pattern for the water barrier..."

---

As the afternoon turned into evening, Camille finally got used to pattern drawing much better than before.

Although she was still forgetting about it, she was able to have a rough outline of it without needing to cast the spell to visualize it.

It also raised some concern for Sophia and Alex, who realized Camille's casting spell was at constant risk of failing to appear.

"Camille, how did you pass the arena challenges if you can't remember your spells exactly?" Sophia curiously asked.

"It just feels different when I cast it than when writing on paper, okay? Evelyn can back me on this."

Looking over to Evelyn, she nodded in agreement as if they had known about this unreliable spellcasting with Camille for a while now.

"I don't fail that often, okay? It's like... 1 out of 10 times——I mean 1 out of 20 times that I accidentally mixed them up."

Camille's face started to blush red in embarrassment as she looked down to her knees, trying to hide her eyes.

"It's really risky to fail to cast a spell in a life or death situation, you know..." Alex warned as he already could imagine the disaster in his head.

"You two are exaggerating it. Camille is going to get better with casting with more time." Luna argued.

"I hope so..."

"Ahem, it's almost late. We probably should head back to the dorm now." Chloe chimed in as the sun began to set on the horizon.

"You guys want to study tomorrow at the same time?" Evelyn asked as the four of them finished packing their stuff.

"Sure... Do you guys want to study here again? We can't really leave home right now."

"No problem... See you guys!"

"See ya!"

As the door finally closed, the three finally had the house to themselves as they looked back to the table full of notes.

"Let's clean up the table first."

After the three of them gathered their stuff back into their backpack, they finally could sit down together on the sofa.

"Alex, what should we do now?" Mary asked curiously, and Sophia looked just as curious about his answer.

"I... I don't really know. We can only just wait——"

Just as Alex finished talking, Mary's stomach suddenly started rumbling.

"I'll go cook dinner."

As Alex got up from the sofa and headed towards the kitchen, Sophia and Mary both got up as well and headed inside.

"Let us help you!"

---

The rest of the day quickly passed as Katherine still didn't show up at the house. Neither Meiya nor Luqing came home either, making the three feel a little uneasy.

Still, they continued with their day as Evelyn and the other three came to their home early in the morning to study.

"Welcome!" Mary said out loud as she opened the door for the four.

"Where's Sophia and Alex?" Luna curiously asked after noticing both of their backpacks were on the chair.

"They are cooking breakfast right now," Mary answered as the fan inside the kitchen started to get louder and louder.

"Where's Miss Katherine?" Chloe curiously asked.

"Mom's on a business trip."

Mary replied as she thought back to the excuses that Sophia had told her to say the previous day.

"Hey, Mary! Who was outside the door?" Alex yelled from the kitchen.

"It's Evelyn!"

"Oh snap!"

As the fan slowly quieted down again, the five of them watched Sophia and Alex exit the kitchen in their aprons.

Their hands held plates with two pieces of toast and what appeared to be a layer of peanut butter on one of them.

"What's that brown thing?" Evelyn curiously asked as the two of them sat down in their seat.

"Just peanut butter," Alex answered as he handed the second plate over to Mary.

"It smells so good... Wait, what's peanut butter?" Camille curiously asked as her nose started sniffing the smell.

"Roasted peanut crushed into a paste," Sophia answered this time as she put her two pieces of toast together.

"Have you guys eaten breakfast yet? I can make it for you guys to try," Alex offered as he took a bit of his sandwich.

"Sure——"

"We're good. We already ate breakfast earlier."

Evelyn quickly interrupted Camille, not letting her accept the offer as Luna and Chloe started taking out their notebooks.

"Chloe, what are we studying today?" Sophia asked as she swallowed down the pieces of the sandwich.

"We mostly finished the Patterns and Magic yesterday, leaving us with the Writing and Math part of the class remaining."

"Not math..."

Evelyn and Luna both complained at the same time as they lay down on the table before the study session even started.

"Let's just do the writing sessions first," Sophia suggested as she quickly finished up her sandwich.

---

As the three of them put away their empty plate back into the kitchen, the writing session had finally been set up.

"How do we study for this?" Camille curiously asked.

Sophia and Mary looked at Alex at the same time as if they were expecting him to pull out some solution from his brain.

However, he remained silent, waiting for the others to speak up first instead.

"We could just read each other's essay and compare it," Evelyn suggested.

"But we don't know exactly what topic it's going to be." Sophia raised her concern.

"I mean, no one knows about it. Which part of the test is going to be writing anyway?" Camille asked again.

"Isn't answering the test with short responses a part of writing?" Chloe pointed out.

"Then that doesn't need practice at all——"

"I'm pretty sure we need to practice writing. Haven't you guys noticed that Miss Amy was trying to teach more general writing tips the last few days before we ended class?"

"That's just studying to write the answer to those questions. Not an actual essay." Camille argued back.

"I guess... How about this: we just write about an essay on any topic and read each other's mistakes after an hour?"

Alex's suggestion eventually came into acceptance after none of them could decide what to do.

As everyone picked up their pencils and began to write, Alex's brain seemed to be short-circuiting.

His brain was starting to mix English and the language of this world as he tried to write even a basic sentence.

"Stop thinking about English, you idiot. Write in Laurentia. It's not that hard. Just translate the word."
