Reborn in another world as a Hermaphrodite

Chapter 147: Test of the Titan’s Might

As Katherine tried to pat Alex's head again softly, he quickly pushed her hand away.

"Hey Alex, do you understand how to be a man?" Katherine suddenly asked.

"Mom!"

"I'm serious. I'm not making a joke this time."

As Alex saw her serious face, his mind knew what the answer should be. But he just didn't dare to say it out loud.

"A man is to have integrity and protect the weak?" Alex answered with a hint of hesitation.

"That sounds more like a knight. Think again."

"Um, a man is... be courageous and always working hard?"

"Now you sound like those preachers preaching in the streets. Come on, you know what Mom wants to hear."

As Katherine stared closer and closer at Alex's face, she could see the nervousness on his face more apparent than ever.

"Relax, Alex. Don't overthink it, okay?"

"I... I don't know." Alex answered, realizing he might have dug too deep once again.

Seeing Alex's refusal to answer, Katherine pulled him a little closer before gently brushing his hair with her hands again.

"Of course,e you don't know what it means to be a man. You're only ten, you silly."

"Says the one who keeps baiting her son..."

"What did you say?"

"Nothing!"

"Hmph! That's what I thought... Come on, Alex, let's take a little nap together. I'm getting a little sleepy."

As Katherine slowly got up from the sofa, Alex could quickly notice the change on her face.

The strong, energetic look was gone, replaced by a tired yawn as she grabbed onto his hand. There was even a hint of helplessness as the two of them walked closer and closer to her bedroom.

"Mom, can I give you a massage?" Alex suddenly offered as the two of them sat down on the bed.

"That's nice of you. But I just want to go to sleep now..."

Alex didn't pursue it any further. He quickly took off his shoe before moving underneath the blanket.

"Goodnight, Mom."

"Goodnight, Alex."

As Katherine pulled Alex a little closer, he didn't resist it. But he could feel a layer of separation between them as they rested separately.

It was almost as if all the things they said earlier about closeness were just her bluffing. Or as if she was a little embarrassed, just like him.

Without any hesitation, Alex inched even closer, all the way to their body touching each other, before moving her hands and legs.

"I love you, Mom..." Alex shyly whispered, his mind starting to feel a little overloaded with what he had just done.

"Love you too."

---

"Alex, wake up! Stop sleeping!"

As the noise made, Alex slowly opened his eyes back up. To his horror, Sophia's face was just inches away from his.

"Why are you sleeping so long? You were supposed to make breakfast for us today."

Sophia pointed out as she quickly moved back to the bedside. Her face mysteriously looked a little red.

"Sorry."

Seeing Alex apologizing right away, Sophia suddenly started blushing even more, realizing how reliant she sounded as his older sister.

"Ahem, Luqing and Meiya already made breakfast. We will be waiting outside." Sophia responded before leaving the room.

A few minutes later...

As Alex arrived at the dining table, his two sisters, Luqing and Meiya, had all finished eating breakfast.

They were all just sitting there, seemingly waiting for him to sit down and start eating.

"Sorry for waking up so late today. I was a little too tired yesterday." Alex apologized as he took a seat.

"Don't worry about it... Luqing and I should be the ones cooking breakfast for you guys anyway."

Meiya's answer surprised Alex a little, but he didn't say anything to refuse her offer.

In his mind, he was more than happy to sleep longer in the morning than waking up early to cook breakfast.

However, when he looked down at the pancake on his plate, his mind thought back to the last time Meiya cooked.

"Surely it can't be that bad with Luqing's help..."

Alex thought to himself as he picked up the fork and ate a small piece. As he started chewing it, the pancake tasted much better than he imagined.

"Woah, this tastes so good. Miss Meiya, did you really cook this?" Alex complimented.

"I wish. Luqing did most of the work, and I just helped mix some of the ingredients."

As Alex quickly finished up the pancake, he noticed the silence in Sophia's and Mary's faces.

It was clear something was bothering them—something that he didn't need to ask as he looked over to the right.

The empty seat was always occupied by a close individual who talked to them before going to school.

"Thanks for the breakfast."

Alex thanked as he picked up his backpack from the side, along with his sister grabbing their backpack.

"Luqing, take care of them, okay?"

Luqing nodded as she opened the door, leading the three of them outside while Meiya watched from the doorstep.

---

When the four of them arrived at the school entrance, massive crowds of students were all standing outside.

Walking past the fenced entrance, they quickly noticed their classmates in one of the lines, with Miss Amy standing in the front.

"You guys go line up with the class, okay?"

The three nodded, merging at the back of the line while Luqing headed to the front to be with the other teachers.

"Ugh, I completely forgot today is that stupid track thing." Mary grumpily murmured as they waited underneath the morning sun.

Sophia didn't say anything back, but her face showed a similar dislike as a frown appeared.

"Hey, Sophia! What took you guys so long today?"

As Camille's loud voice overshadowed the crowded noises from other students, the other three were right behind her.

"Just Alex overslept a little... What are we doing right now?" Sophia asked as the four of them walked to the back of the line with them.

"Waiting for the school principal to make a speech——"

Deng! Deng!

A loud wooden staff was banged onto the ground as a middle-aged man appeared out of nowhere.

"Ahem, good morning everyone. I'm your school principal. You can call me Mr. Klaus."

As a loud voice traveled through the crowd, all other noises were instantly muted.

"I'm here to make a school announcement once again. Today is a very special day."

All of the students' attention, including Alex's group, was looking toward Mr.Klaus as they waited for him to continue.

"It's the first time our school is doing an annual Test of the Titan's Might, and I hope everyone is prepared for what is about to come."

The announcement seemed to surprise most of the teachers in front, who looked just as confused as the students below.

"I'm sure you all have experienced the new physical class with your teacher. Some of you might dislike it, but I don't want to do it either.

However, many of the parents and upper-class professors have been complaining about mages being out of shape.

So please don't blame me or your teachers for this. When you move onto the upper class, go blame those past-their-prime professors."

As the rambling continued, the student and the teacher started to look a little annoyed.

"Ahem, now, with that out of the way. Let's get back to what's happening today."

"The Test of The Titan's Might will be an eight-hour exam, testing your physical capability and your endurance."

Half the students in the crowd were in disbelief, and many wanted to voice their complaints. Unfortunately, no sound came out of their mouth.

"Of course, there will be breaks in between the eight different sections. You can leave the exam at any time.

But if I were you, I would try my best rather than just leave... Yesterday, I had a little discussion with the school's Archmage."

As the short pause started, everyone's heart started beating, looking a little shocked that the school archmage would get involved over such a trivial thing.

"He had stated that this exam shall be a part of the final consideration for the overall score for graduation of 1st Grade."

"What!"

This time, the outburst came from one of the teachers in front, whose face was in complete shock as more voices followed.

"Bullshit! That's not fair." Another teacher raised their concern.

"Yeah! How could we prepare for this?"

"Not fair!"

"Rigged!"

As more teachers started chiming in, Mr.Klaus pulled out his trump card loudly.

"Don't blame me. Go talk to the Archmage and tell him about it."

All the teachers who wanted to complain fell into silence, their faces looking red in anger.

Down below, many of the students' faces were also filled with anger, but some of them also had a hint of fear.

It was almost as if they didn't take the class seriously, and now they're starting to regret it.

"Please, everyone, remain in a single file line. I'll be teleporting everyone to the testing ground that had been set up."
