“Hold on, little brother!” Big Brother shifted to avoid the tackle, shouting harshly. He was struggling to control himself. If his younger brother really hit him, he would lose it.

Qin Xue looked at him, realizing that he had consciously held back. But why? She couldn’t figure it out.

Qin Xue observed his stubborn gaze, then pulled out a pill from her bag for him.

He merely glanced at Qin Xue, accepted the pill, and gave it to the other man.

“Big Brother, you…” The younger brother’s eyes reddened as he looked at his older brother. If he hadn’t leered at that woman, none of this would have happened.

“Well, now you know. Not every woman is a target for your lewdness. Go home and live a proper life.” Big Brother told his younger brother.

“I understand, Big Brother. From now on, I’ll live properly — I’ll never do this again.” He said, his eyes welling up as he stared at his elder brother.

“Go home. I’ll handle the rest.” Big Brother sent his younger brother away.

“Be careful, Big Brother. If anything happens, come find me at home.” The younger brother was quite loyal in his words.

“Alright, go. In the future, treat our parents well and live a good life.” Big Brother waved at his younger brother.

“Now there’s just you. How do you intend to resolve this?” Qin Xue looked at the man. She now understood why he had held back earlier — so that was the reason.

“What do you suggest?” Big Brother asked Qin Xue.

“Just leave, and don’t get involved in actions like this again. Doesn’t it disgrace the reputation of a military man?” Qin Xue handed him another pill.

“May I ask you for a favor?” Big Brother pleaded, his expression earnest as he stared at Qin Xue.

“Does it have to do with why you were out robbing?” Qin Xue asked him.

“Yes.” He nodded.

“Let’s hear it.” Qin Xue looked at him. He hadn’t begged for mercy earlier; he had demonstrated some backbone.

“You seem to be a doctor. Could you help treat my mother’s illness?” Big Brother was silent for a while before he spoke.

“What’s wrong with your mother? Why didn’t you take her to the hospital?” Qin Xue asked after hearing what he said.

“No money.” Big Brother had taken his mother to the hospital, but after exhausting the meager discharge stipend from his military service, they could no longer afford medical treatment. Otherwise, he wouldn’t resort to such desperate measures.

“Even if you don’t have money, you could have found some work, right? Why resort to something like this?” Qin Xue stared at him with a degree of disappointment and exasperation.
