Chapter 965: Chapter 959: Going Home_1
“It’s all good, we’re all family now.” Qin Jiale reached out to take the bag from its hand, only to find it unexpectedly heavy. She wondered how it managed to carry it so easily. It must be really strong.
“Dad, mom, Lele. Taotao, call Granny and Gramps, and this is your aunt.” Qin Xue finally approached her parents.
“Granny, Gramps, Auntie, hello.” Jingtao greeted everybody according to Qin Xue’s instructions.
“Uncle, Auntie, do you remember me? I’m Fang Xiu, I hope I’m not bothering you.” Fang Xiu smiled at Qin Lei and Nangong Shulan, pulling a pen and paper from her pocket to write a word.
“Why say you’re bothering us? We’re happy you’re here. Let’s head home first, it’s rather chilly. We can’t have you catching a cold.” Qin Lei glanced at his two grandsons who were still drowsy from sleep, fearful of them being exposed to the cold.
“Okay, but why did you all come to pick us up? Like you said, it’s cold. But you should have worn more clothes.” Qin Xue reproachfully looked at her father.
“We dressed warmly and we’re fine. You all, on the other hand, look a bit underdressed.” Qin Lei looked at their relatively thin clothing.
“We’re not cold. We’re wearing down jackets, they’re very warm. I brought some for you two.”” Qin Xue held her mother’s hand while her mom held the kids.
“Alright, anything else we need to discuss we can do once we’re home. Unaware of the time, we still need to feed the children.” Nangong Shulan saw her husband was about to speak again and interrupted them. Otherwise, if they keep going at this pace, they would never reach home.
“Exactly, Dad, as much as I’d love to talk to my sister, I won’t sideline getting to eat or getting warm first. We can chat after that.” Qin Jiale chimed in after hearing her mother’s words. It wasn’t just her who was anxious.
“Alright, understood. Our car is over there… we’ll load up your luggage and head home. Your grandma has already made dinner at home, so we can eat once we’re at home.” Qin Lei announced that his eldest daughter and her family were coming home for the New Year, and the parents were especially pleased. The sister and brother-in-law even came to their house to help cook, so they would have hot meals ready as soon as they got home.
“Really? That’s great! I was actually getting pretty hungry.” Qin Xue started laughing as she spoke. They had some snacks in the car, but it was cold and the food wasn’t very good. She ate some steamed buns and beef jerky instead.
“Lele, here.” Thinking of the jerky, Qin Xue let go of her mother’s arm and took out two packs from her bag. She gave one to her sister and kept one for herself. She fed everyone a bit before finally treating herself to a piece.
“Sister, this is really delicious.” Qin Jiale commented, reaffirming that her sister’s food was the best and most to her taste.
“Do you like it?” Qin Xue asked her sister.
“I love it! You don’t understand. The thing I missed the most was the snacks you made. Mom has been so busy every day that she has no time to make it, so… to be honest… it is not as delicious as the ones you make.” Qin Jiale complained softly to Qin Xue while standing next to her.
“You ungrateful girl, be thankful you have something to eat. Don’t be too picky.” Nangong Shulan chided her daughter after hearing her complaints.
Shulan had been busy over the last half year, and only cooked for her once when she visited. It was no surprise that she was complaining. She truly didn’t have the time – every day was packed with business and as soon as she came home, she would be preparing materials. Her daughter only came home once a month, so they just opted for other food instead. This jerky required too much effort, so she didn’t make any. Now, her reasons for not cooking had turned into a complaint instead. Shulan shook her head and looked at her two daughters. (Stay tuned for more updates tomorrow!)
