Reincarnated as a Divine Tree

Vol. 1 - Chapter 130 - Open Road

As the curious chatter of the younger clan members grew louder, Chen Xingzhen waved a hand to dismiss the crowd.

Inside the Ancestral Hall, after getting some rest, Chen Qingyu sat down with Chen Xingzhen and several Blood Coagulation Realm martial artists to share his experiences in detail.

Above them, the spirits of the deceased elders gathered, making the hall feel lively despite its solemn air.

Although the elders had glimpsed some of his journey through the light screen at night, they had been preoccupied with clan affairs during the day and hadn't seen everything. Now, hearing Chen Qingyu’s firsthand account, their expressions grew wistful.

They had lived in the deep mountains for so long that the outside world felt like a distant memory. But one thing was certain—this place was far from their former home.

"From what Qingyu described, Yong’an City isn’t too far from the clan," one of the elders mused. "At our current pace, the road should be finished in about two months."

"Are the city shops really selling so many rare items?"

"But how would we even obtain jade coins?"

"It would be great if we could afford Bodhi Fruits or Purple Ganoderma..."

One by one, the clan members shared their thoughts.

Chen Xingzhen listened in silence, his mind turning over the possibilities. If the clan had access to such cultivation resources, their martial artists would improve at a much faster rate.

The Five-Leaf Flower was effective, but its growth was too slow to support the clan’s increasing needs. If they could acquire superior alternatives, they wouldn’t have to rely on it so heavily.

And then there were the weapons. The iron weapons in the city reforged over and over, were of significantly higher quality than what they currently had. Good tools made all the difference in both hunting and farming.

As the discussions wrapped up, the elders slowly left the hall. Chen Xingzhen remained, standing under a large tree in deep thought.

Since Yong’an City was the closest trade hub, their road would undoubtedly lead there. But what about the four major families that controlled it? What kind of risks would they face?

He would have to investigate further.

For now, though, one thing was clear—the clan's path forward was set.

The next morning, just outside his home, Chen Tianquan gazed at his wife and the baby cradled in her arms. His heart ached with reluctance.

"Wife, I may not be able to return for the next two months," he said softly.

The recent road construction had required many clan members to stay away for extended periods. A few days ago, the elders had decided that the workers would camp near the construction site rather than travelling back and forth. Meanwhile, the villagers who had been helping had returned home, as the summer crop of Blood Rice needed tending.

His wife nodded firmly. "Go ahead. I'll take care of things here."

Chen Tianquan looked down at his child, his voice turning gentle.

"Qingcheng, be good for your mother, alright? Don’t be naughty."

The baby cooed, reaching a tiny hand toward him.

"When I come back," he added with a smile, "I'll bring you something fun."

With one last lingering glance, he turned and walked away.

As much as he wanted to stay, his duty to the clan came first. Only by strengthening the clan could he ensure a better future for his son.

That morning, dozens of martial artists packed their supplies and left the clan hall.

Even Chen Qingyu, despite just returning, joined them. Given his strength, his presence would help speed up the construction.

Most of those who left were martial artists—faster, stronger, and more capable of clearing the dense forest in their path.

Crack!

A massive tree groaned before crashing to the ground, shaking the earth with its impact.

The clan members below erupted in cheers, immediately moving in to dismantle the fallen tree.

This had been Chen Qingyu’s handiwork. With his Innate Realm strength, abundant blood qi, and mastery of Taizu Long Fist, chopping down trees was almost effortless.

Nearby, Chen Tianquan and several others grinned as they surveyed the road ahead.

It stretched out before them, packed down with hard dirt and already showing deep wheel ruts from past use. It had taken them two months to reach this point. Now, only a short stretch remained before they would finally connect with the outside world.

The realization filled them with renewed energy.

"Tianquan," a fellow worker teased, "you’ve been out here for two months. Think your kid will still recognize you?"

Chen Tianquan laughed. "Of course! My boy’s smart—he won’t forget me!"

His smile widened as he thought of Qingcheng. He had seen many clan children, but none as bright as his own. The boy rarely fussed, almost as if he understood the world better than most.

With the road nearly finished, he was more motivated than ever to complete the job.

Chen Qingyu, meanwhile, stood off to the side, gazing at the massive fallen tree. He could feel it—his strength had improved. In just a few months, he had neared the mid-stage of the Innate Realm. Yet, to reach the Inner Gang Realm, he needed to grasp something more—qi.

Gang Qi was an advanced form of blood qi, a power that separated true experts from ordinary Innate Realm warriors.

But at the moment, he had no clue how to sense it.

How long would it take?

Shaking off the thought, he looked at the newly opened road ahead.

It stretched onward, vanishing into the distance. Beyond it lay Yong’an City.

Behind him, Chaotic Burial Mountain had long since disappeared from view. All that remained were rolling hills and an endless stretch of wilderness.

Unknowingly, they had travelled so far from home. And yet, it was only the beginning.

"This is great!"

"Prepare to welcome back the clan members!"

Inside the Ancestral Hall, Chen Xingzhen watched the light screen, his eyes filled with joy.

The road construction had demanded months of effort. It had taken up much of their manpower, delaying the martial training of many clan members.

But now, the results were clear. For the first time, Chaotic Burial Mountain was no longer isolated. Their hidden world had been connected to the outside.

Of course, this also meant outsiders might find them—but that was a risk they had to take. Growth required stepping into the unknown.

As he pondered this, something else troubled him. The Zhou clan hadn’t come to collect the Blood Rice this month.

The summer harvest had been completed at the end of last month, and they had even begun planting the next crop. But so far, there had been no sign of anyone from the Zhou clan.

Could they have forgotten?
