Vol. 1 - Chapter 133 - Arrival
The Spirit-Tailed Chicken wandered leisurely, traversing the entire clan estate as if inspecting its teritory. Soon, it arrived outside the ancestral hall.
Seeing the tightly closed doors, a trace of disdain flickered in its eyes. Without hesitation, it flapped its wings and soared over the outer wall, landing effortlessly inside.
Spirit-Tailed Chickens could only manage short bursts of flight, but this one seemed to glide farther than usual.
Inside the hall, it took a quick survey of its surroundings before its gaze locked onto the lush locust tree at the center. Spreading its wings, it prepared to leap onto a branch, as these creatures preferred to rest in high places.
Yet just as it took off, a root suddenly shot out and blocked its way.
The unexpected obstruction made the Spirit-Tailed Chicken freeze momentarily. However, it didn’t attempt to challenge it again. Instead, it settled under the tree, closed its eyes, and began to doze off.
Above, Ji Yang silently observed its every move.
Clearly, this particular Spirit-Tailed Chicken had undergone a mutation due to its awakened abilities. The most notable change was in its intelligence—it had become noticeably smarter.
Ji Yang had once considered raising ferocious beasts, but he never would have chosen a Spirit-Tailed Chicken. Such creatures had little to offer the clan in terms of strength. However, after awakening its spirit, its meat did seem to have become more flavorful.
As for this one, he decided to keep it for now. At the very least, it could serve as a mild distraction from his daily monotony.
At that moment, Chen Xingzhen entered the ancestral hall and immediately spotted the chicken resting beneath the tree. His expression stiffened slightly, but since the Divine Tree had not reacted against it, he chose to remain silent.
After a brief moment of silent prayer, a shimmering screen of light appeared before Chen Xingzhen, revealing two figures—Chen Qinghe and Chen Qingmeng—sneaking out of the estate.
Confirming his suspicions, he sighed.
It was only natural for the younger generation to yearn for the outside world. He could understand that. However, given the current circumstances, it was not a suitable time for them to leave and train beyond the clan's protection.
But now that they had already departed, there was nothing he could do. He could only hope they remained cautious and avoided trouble.
The outside world was neither as safe as the clan estate nor as predictable as the Chaotic Burial Mountain.
Once Chen Xingzhen left, Ji Yang shifted his focus inward, reassessing his own state.
With the clan beginning to connect with the outside world, he too needed to make the necessary preparations.
[Name: Ji Yang]
[Race: Netherworld Locust Tree][Vitality: 1002][Divine Abilities: Eye of Insight, Reversing Dan Cycle, Blindfolded Perception, Soul Condensation, Protective Armor, Thousand-Mile Red Earth, Spirit Awakening][Cultivation Techniques: Lunar Eclipse, Yin Gathering, Incense Gold Body, Soul Consumption][Combat Skills: Taizu Long Fist][Qi and Blood: 22 (convertible to vitality)][Spiritual Energy: 80][Simulation Points: 20][Simulation Available][Status: A locust tree emerging from the wall.]…
Over the past three months, Ji Yang's vitality had surged rapidly due to the resurgence of the Natural Blood Spring. By converting the Qi and Blood he had accumulated, his vitality quickly surpassed a thousand points.
Upon reaching this milestone, he even sprouted a new cluster of branches and leaves. However, the vitality gained from absorbing moonlight each night remained relatively modest.
Beneath the soil, his roots had already spread throughout the entire estate and had even begun to extend slightly beyond its borders. With the presence of the golden locust leaves, nothing within the clan grounds escaped his sight.
However, surpassing a thousand points in vitality had triggered an unexpected consequence—his trunk and overall size had grown significantly, beyond even his ability to restrain using his Free Growth ability.
Now, his towering form loomed higher than the ancestral hall, making him an unmistakable presence.
This was bad news.
A tree that stood out too much would be the first to be felled.
The clan had yet to reach a level of true strength, and for both the clan and himself, maintaining a low profile was still necessary.
Growing too tall and too strong too quickly might not be an advantage.
After all, wasn’t that exactly why Zhou Huaian had dismissed him so easily last time?
A weaker appearance often lulled others into underestimating their opponent. Trees were no exception.
But since things had already come to this, Ji Yang had no choice but to let nature take its course.
Thanks to his Soul Consumption technique, his spiritual energy had increased rapidly, yet his simulation points had stagnated.
Previously, the simulation points had grown quickly because the clan had been embroiled in conflict, leaving many members without time for cultivation.
But now, most of those who could break through had already done so. It would take them a long while to reach the next realm, leaving Ji Yang with a period of stagnation.
The solution was simple: more clan members.
Fortunately, in about a month, a new generation would be born.
For both the clan’s future and his own, he needed to awaken their spirits one by one, accelerating the clan’s growth. Based on previous spirit awakenings, however, his current spiritual energy might not be enough. If only he had more Green Bamboo.
With that in mind, Ji Yang decided to conserve his resources rather than rushing another simulation. Having experienced the Tenfold Simulation, he was now eager to challenge a high-level map once again.
…
"Look, that must be Yong’an City that Qingyu mentioned!"
Outside the city, Chen Tianjing and his group gazed at the distant skyline, their eyes brimming with anticipation and excitement.
The journey from the estate had taken them five full days. Though part of the delay was due to the heavily loaded carts, the distance itself was not insignificant.
Had it not been for the newly built road, the trip might have taken twice as long. Fortunately, their journey had been uneventful, without any unexpected encounters—like a wild beast suddenly leaping out at them.
At last, they had arrived at their destination.
Adjusting their attire, they prepared to enter the city. The clan members pushing the carts remained mindful of their posture and conduct, knowing they represented the clan's image.
Outside the city walls, a sea of people bustled about. The variety of clothing, colors, and styles was dazzling, leaving some clan members momentarily overwhelmed.
Chen Tianjing and his group, however, did not rush inside. Instead, they took a moment to observe their surroundings.
Through careful observation, Chen Tianjing quickly noticed that they were far from the only merchants bringing goods into the city.
Most of them were common folk. The poorest carried their goods on shoulder poles. The slightly better-off, like their own group, pushed carts.
The wealthier merchants transported their wares in horse-drawn carriages. These individuals were well-dressed, clearly not ordinary commoners.
Seeing the well-groomed horses pulling heavy loads with ease, many clan members couldn't help but feel envious. If only their clan raised horses. But even if they did, the newly built road was still too uneven, making carriage travel difficult.
As they watched others, they, too, attracted attention. Passersby cast fleeting glances in their direction, sizing them up.
In response, the clan members straightened their backs, chins held high.
The clan was not to be looked down upon.
After a brief glance, most people quickly averted their gazes and continued on their way.
