Reincarnated as a Son of the Sword Saint and the Sage

Chapter 508 Arena Fights Continues

"""Piercing Barrage."""

On the misty, frozen floor, three images of Erik suddenly appeared around Harry, performing his signature move, which he had expected. As planned, Harry immediately cast a counterattack.

(Windstorm Barrier.)

Before the rapier landed a hit on Harry, a powerful gust of sharp and strong winds suddenly manifested around Harry that eventually formed a dome. The afterimages of Erik vanished, and his real body revealed himself in front of Harry.

(Air Sniper.)

Casting a Level 6 Wind Magic spell, a tightly compressed air shoot out of Harry's staff and fastly aiming toward Erik. Unsurprisingly, Erik disappeared before the spell hit him and instantly reappeared behind Harry. With no time to cast a spell, Harry drew out his sword and used it to block Erik's slash.

Clink!

"You sure are fast, even though the sword is only your secondary."

"You also are better than I expected, Phantom Fencer."

After a short verbal exchange, they both took a step back and gave space to one another. Shortly after, Harry channeled a large amount of mana to his sword.

"Thermal Blade."

Upon using Weapon Enchantment and then a Level 7 Fire Magic spell, Harry's blade had become a magic sword and was now covered in flames. That act excited the audience, and cheers were flooded on him.

"So you can do magic swordsmanship?"

"Yeah. And I will use it to beat you here."

"Try it."

"Sword Wave."

Harry raised his sword overhead and quickly brought it down to unleash a fast energy wave toward Erik. However, it just passed through him and his image vanished. Before Harry realized it, Erik's presence was everywhere again.

Suddenly, his images started attacking him one after another, but Harry quickly parried and blocked all his attacks with his flaming blade. The sharp and screeching sounds of colliding metal reverberated around the coliseum.

As he did, Harry could not help but notice why Erik was not using all his images to attack him at once, even though he had the ability to. Erik definitely knew that he could not handle such a barrage, and he was just trolling with him, which Harry felt slightly offended by.

"Is this all you've got?!" Harry exclaimed after deflecting an attack. "Hiding yourself within yourself?"

After saying that, Erik's barrage suddenly ceased, but his presence was still there. And then a few seconds later, he surprised Harry by using all of his dozens of afterimages to aim their blades at him all at once.

(Crap! So many!) "Frosty Burst!"

Stumping the point of his sword to the floor, Harry quickly cast a Level 9 Water Magic spell, and a large ice spike, measuring at least three meters in length, burst out from the icy floor and intercepted Erik's attacks. His spell was so powerful that ice spikes covered the zone within half the radius of the arena.

"Fire and ice? How ironic."

Shatter! Shatter! Shatter! Shatter!

Following those words, Erik executed Hundred Slices and broke the icy spikes into pieces. It was not a necessary move. Erik just wanted to show off.

With all the spikes down, Erik could now see the anxious face of Harry, who was shocked because Erik was able to perform a Level 8 attack in spite of having Level 7 proficiency in Sword Art.

"There you are."

Erik dashed toward Harry and thrust his blade forward. Harry immediately recovered from his shock and reflexively swung his sword, which had just lost its flame, upward just in time before the rapier penetrated his chest.

Clink!

Harry's blade deflected Erik's rapier. And while it was overhead, Harry thrust his palm forward, and a green magic circle appeared in front of it, indicating that he had cast a spell.

(Wind Blade!)

A crescent-shaped blade of sharp winds was released from the magic circle, and it was going to directly hit Erik's chest. But as Harry expected, the blade passed through him again.@@novelbin@@

Since the start of the match, Harry had been tracking the main body of Erik out of the afterimages around. He could recognize which was which because of the energy that his Resurrection Bracelet had been giving off.

The bracelets were not only for the safety of the fighters, but they were also used for tracking them. Harry was aware of that device's feature, so that was why he did not lose track of his main body. It was the reason why Erik was not disqualified from the tournament for disappearing too much.

Harry had been waiting for his main body to personally attack him. When that moment came, he could use an attack that could catch him to a certain extent even if he switched places with his afterimages.

Waiting for that timing, Harry continued exchanging blades with and throwing spells on Erik. He was efficient with his output so that he did not exhaust himself. Harry endured a painful one minute of Erik's relentless attacks before his main body began to move toward him.

Joining the barrage with his afterimages, Erik thrust his rapier. Pretending to be oblivious, Harry waited for Erik to get close to him by at least a meter before he released the spell he prepared beforehand.

(Now! Lightning Strike!)

Upon chantlessly invoking a Level 8 magic spell, a large magic circle was conjured high in the air and a powerful streak of lightning came from it heading straight toward Erik. As much as the speed of light was concerned, Erik literally did not have the time to think about it, and the lightning struck inevitably his body.

Crack! Boom!

Along with the target, the lightning strike also hit the frozen floor, which evaporated the ice and generated a more misty environment in the arena. Harry stood a few meters from the ground zero after stepping back earlier.

He was quite exhausted after pulling off such a spell, so all he had to do was to wait for the mist to settle and see the outcome. He sensed no more of Erik's presence anywhere and assumed that he was finished.

However, as the mist gradually dissipated, Harry's face twisted in horror seeing Erik's figure standing on the strike stop completely unscathed.

"You... you, monster...?! The lightning should have burned all of your cells! How did you escape death?! I don't understand! I can't take this anymore! I surrender!"

Hopeless, Harry surrendered, and he was defeated in the tournament for the first time.
