Chapter 371 - 172 Anuka: You must bear his child, it will surely be the strongest Snow Wolf (Riwan)_2
The Lord of Muxue’s once-upright body became slightly hunched, as if he aged several years in just a moment. Even though the visible signs of aging did not show much on his face, he, still in his middle years, now seemed as though his twilight years were imminent. He was nothing more than an ordinary old man.
"Gentlemen, do you have any other questions?" Luxius, descending slowly from the sky above, looked down at the people underneath.
The people below unconsciously looked toward this presence that had brought calamity upon them, yet, merely by gazing directly into Luxius’s eyes, they felt as though their souls might be devoured by that twisted spiritual power. @@novelbin@@
The unarguable intensity of his power made them instinctively lower their heads; the short dwarves crawled on the ground below, while the tall Humans stood erect above. This image deeply imprinted itself in their retinas, never to be forgotten.
"What are you standing there for? This is none other than the august Mage Monarch Luxius from the Yibel Federation, the Master of Energy Sculpting. Start welcoming him at once!"
The dwarf bore a somewhat obsequious smile on his face. When the Lord of Muxue Castle was the first to bow his head, it was like a line of dominoes falling, as one by one, the guards of Muxue Castle bowed theirs as well.
Along with their heads, they lowered their courage to fight and their resolve to face death.
"Why does every era see the emergence of outstanding talents among Humans... Monarch Luxius, could you tell me, the one who crushed the barrier our family depended on for survival, what sort of background does he have?"
Luxius had been silently observing their expressions. Although his speech had always been brash, he was not a fool.
He was confident enough that those dwarves would deal with the internal issues of the Orean Independent Kingdom themselves, as they always had...
The dwarves, in fact, had no concept of a nation, only a concept of interest. They sought endless gains and a strong demand for technology, even to the extent that the latter was in service to the former.
As for selling out national interests?
That would be overestimating the dwarves, for they knew nothing about national interests. National interests are the bonds formed by a common vision and converging interests, bolstered by a unique culture.
If you want to wage war, the dwarves not fleeing with their wealth at the first sign of trouble would be considered courageous. Where would the support for the Orean Independent Kingdom to wage war come from?
They only dared to ally with The Papal State of Brinia and were willing to exchange the future of the Orean Independent Kingdom for their own interests, or to have the dwarves fight to the last man to satisfy their endless greed for technology and wealth.
In times of need, they wouldn’t hesitate to be the dogs of The Papal State of Briania.
As expected, when they displayed their resolve to decide the battle, these people immediately shrank away. At once, they longed to appease the anger of these visitors from the Yibel Federation.
"What, you can’t beat us, so you turn to attack my students? Of course, if you want to take action, that’s no problem... But I think, before that, you all need to be mentally prepared to endure the wrath of Duke Lion Heart and myself..."
The dwarf, with his stooped body and hands clasped, said softly, "Mister Luxius, calm your rage! Calm your rage! Stay connected via NovelBin.Côm
We have already relayed the Federation’s and your demands to the Royal City. We ask that you and your fellows accompany us to the Royal City, where I believe we will have a satisfactory response for you."
"If that’s the case, then that could not be better," Luxius hummed. He didn’t respond further and flew straight back to the Flying Boat.
...
Meanwhile, the celebration on the Flying Boat continued.
At the bar, a group of Knights held bottles of spirits in their hands, their faces flushed with a tipsy red hue, as they enthusiastically discussed their recent bravery in the battle below.
Then those whose battle exploits weren’t so admirable voiced their dissatisfaction, claiming that the dwarves just couldn’t take a hit.
Unavoidably, the conversation also turned to the achievements displayed by different individuals in the battle.
The most attention, undeniably, was on Luxius and Kael.
But the deterrent power of the Magic Monarch prevented them from approaching too closely; however, Kael was different. Although he was a candidate for Duke, he wasn’t one yet... so naturally, they weren’t so constrained when talking about him.
"Master Kael, could you please explain the Compound Magic you used just now and share with us what range it had?"
When it came to the realm of knowledge, these Mages seriously cast aside the title of ’His Highness’ when addressing Kael.
What was a cricket’s status compared to the power brought by the exalted knowledge of magic?
Kael, however, did not hide anything and simply said with a smile,
"It’s not purely magic; it’s actually mixed with some effects from other systems too.
I can only say that, although this type of spell is very powerful, it takes too long to prepare and can easily be detected by the enemy. If it weren’t for this battle, where Muxue Castle took a defensive stance, it would be quite difficult to hit such a target directly."
The old mage could not fail to hear the humility in Kael’s words. What did he mean by needing a long time to prepare?
The effectiveness of a spell was everything in battle. Setting aside how long the preparation took, as long as one could destroy the enemy at the critical moment, that was the goal they aimed to achieve.
What do you think?
