Chapter 519 - 196: Kael Blessed by Divine Descent, Elanna's Sword Dance, The Beginning of Ascension! (10K)_5
As for the danger...
Well, as before, for Kael, there was no danger in the Royal Capital with Baron Lion Heart stationed there.
When the thought arose, he acted upon it.
This time, Bishop Graf came by carriage.
Perhaps because the Dinel Church had been making headlines recently, the earnest packs of Otherworld paparazzi camped outside the Kael Mansion conscientiously cleared the way.
Since Bishop Graf had prepared a carriage, there was no need for Kael and his group to prepare another one; they all boarded the carriage and headed in the direction of the Royal Capital Church.
The paparazzi, left behind, looked at each other bewildered, but some astute ones had already guessed what was happening, their expressions changing as they turned and ran towards their respective news agencies.
Though some of the paparazzi were a bit slow to react, they were after all accustomed to the Royal Capital, and possessed good observational skills. Noticing some of their peers quietly departing, those people quickly realized what was happening, clapped their hands, and followed suit towards their news agencies.
Before long, only a group of less competent paparazzi remained at the scene, disheveled in the wind, resembling fools who had been called to impart "Divine Descent" and then didn't know what to do.
...
Kael naturally did not concern himself with what the group of paparazzi did after he left. When he stepped down from the carriage, he had arrived at the Great Cathedral of the Dinel Church in the Royal Capital.
Guided by Bishop Graf, the two walked into the church and soon entered the rear courtyard.
The courtyard's design exuded an ancient and magnificent aesthetic. Walking through the garden and passing the pavilion, one could see magical sculptures filled with theological significance everywhere.
The sculptures softly twinkled with Magic Light, releasing a power that induced a sense of vast spiritual tranquility and instantly calmed the emotions.
Bishop Graf led the way and explained,
"Many of my god's followers are Universal Scholars and seekers of knowledge, and now, with your help, a significant number of bards have also joined our ranks.
This ceremonial arrangement is able to pacify our inner impulsiveness and agitation, greatly enhancing the effectiveness of the learners' studies. It can be considered a hidden benefit for our church's devout followers."
"I see," Kael realized, no wonder he had felt something akin to the effect of Queen Jasmine; it appeared the ceremony truly resembled what Queen Jasmine had influenced.
His gaze subtly swept across the corners of the courtyard where numerous believers, both men and women, had gathered. They were either in the courtyard or on benches whispering among themselves, sending waves of joyful laughter through the air.
"Lord, your and Lady Elanna's seats are in a more central area, the Pope and other Cardinals are already there waiting."
Kael and Elanna were slightly surprised and nodded following him.
The two walked arm in arm and soon saw in a spacious area at the center, under the dome of a pavilion supported by greyish-white columns, the statue of Dinel stood at the center, surrounded by priests in Church clothes radiating powerful energy.
The statue of Dinel was not built to be very large, just the height of an average person, holding a book in its hands with inscriptions that people could not understand.
The architecture itself was a manifestation of art and knowledge, and although the Dinel Church's garden did not appear incredibly luxurious at first glance, those who sat and observed it slowly would find it increasingly comfortable.
Kael even felt that if one were to read in this place, their mood would greatly improve.
As Kael and Elanna arrived, these core figures of the Church of the God of Literature and Knowledge nodded amicably towards them.
"Baron Helois, Lady Elanna, please, take your seats."
The Pope motioned for them to sit. Kael was not particularly surprised and directly took Elanna's hand to go to their seats.
After they were seated, rather than having the typical announcements or introductions of what was to happen next commonly found in festive occasions, they only heard the Pope say in a deep voice,
"My god, Dinel, everyone has arrived."
No sooner had he spoken than the skies above the Royal Capital suddenly filled with flashes of lightning and the roaring of thunder.
It was as if time had suddenly entered the evening, with thunderous roars incessant in their ears, but quickly, a burst of light began to flicker on the statue of Dinel in the center of the courtyard.
An unceasing flow of power spread outward, and a semi-spherical protective barrier began to spread from the church towards the surroundings.
In a very short time, the dark clouds above the Royal Capital were forcefully dispersed by the barrier.
The center of the dark clouds was violently opened by the barrier, pouring countless lights through the opening.
Under the illumination of those lights, all the residents of the Royal Capital felt as if their thinking had suddenly sped up with the push of a shortcut key.
Even several Mages, under the glow, felt as if all the knowledge they had learned came vividly to life; even many things they had never fully understood before now suddenly made sense.
There was no doubt, this was the display of a newly established divine right, of Literature and Emerging Knowledge, demonstrating its power to the entire world.
What do you think?
