Chapter 321 Heart Of Yggrisial [17]
Marvis' body flinched as he felt something.
His gaze moved up.
A meteor shower rushed toward the palace.
An absurd scenery.
The sky burned.
Meteors hit the palace, ground shaking.
Marvis stared up, an absurd look on his face.
Gritting his teeth, Elijah raised his leg before slamming it into Marvis's chest.
His body moved backward, rolling on the ground. @@novelbin@@
Zenith played with her staff before making the rune of Water.
A blast of water erupted beneath Marvis, drenching him.
Before he could react, Zenith added a Lightning rune.
The water crackled.
Marvis convulsed, smoke rising from his clothes.
Heather lunged, claws aimed at his chest.
Marvis stumbled back, but Elijah materialized behind him, sword at his throat.
A vine stopped the sword, but the force hurled him into a statue, cracking the marble.
Marvis grinned, blood trickling from his lip. "Now, this isn't good."
His gaze flickered at the two trails of golden and silver hues moving at an unnatural speed.
Vaguely, he caught one figure's face.
Himmel.
Marvis' grin widened—
A torn stone pillar hurtled at Marvis.
He dodged, glancing at Heather.
Who threw another stone pillar at him.
He dodged—
A glowing orb struck Marvis's chest, exploding in a burst of light.
He staggered back, annoyance finally creeping onto his face.
Elijah's blade hummed.
Ruah flared green as his sword blurred, dozens of phantom slashes materializing, a storm of strikes too fast to dodge.
Marvis raised a wall of thorns, but the slices carved through.
"Enough!" he roared.
Flowers bloomed from his wounds. "You want to see real power?"
"I can ask you the same question," a cold voice echoed within the place.
A figure floated in the air.
Her vibrant red hair fluttered with the wind as she looked down at Marvis.
He stood frozen.
He blinked.
Then—
No flourish, no warning—her hand closed around Marvis's throat.
With one single twist, she broke his neck.
The fight died with him.
Elijah slumped, clutching his shoulder.
Heather's claws retracted, her breaths ragged.
Zenith stared at Mariam, then her eyes moved around.
"Pasithea?" she called, panicking, unable to find her.
They were so engrossed in the fight that she forgot about safety.
Panic started to crawl in her heart until—
"She is here," Serisha's voice echoed, making her turn toward her.
Pasithea lay beside her, still unconscious.
Zenith quickly rushed toward her, checking for any injuries.
Only when Zenith confirmed that she wasn't hurt did she let out a sigh of relief.
"Since when?" Zenith asked, shifting her focus to Serisha. "When did you save her?"
"A long time ago," Serisha replied calmly, her gaze shifting toward Mariam. "I was just waiting for her."
Mariam glanced at her before shifting her gaze toward the direction of the meteor shower.
"Himmel," Serisha's voice echoed in her ears. "Is he safe?"
Mariam quietly nodded, glancing back at her.
"You guys should rest."
Her voice echoed as her body blurred before vanishing.
"I will clean the palace."
Zenith looked back at Elijah, who had started walking toward Heather.
The door slammed open, startling everyone.
Carson and Amaury rushed forward before abruptly stopping.
They took a moment to notice the destruction around them.
Amaury shifted his gaze toward Elijah. "Are we late?"

[<Are you alright, Qais?>]
Inna's concerned voice echoed in my head as the scenery before my eyes kept changing.
'....Yeah.' I replied, letting the branches of the World Tree carry me like a platform floating up.
The silver runes on my body burned, greedily absorbing mana—draining me, killing me from the inside.
It felt like countless needles were piercing my skin continuously.
It felt painful.
But I was numb to the pain.
My thoughts kept circling back to the fight with that guy.
'I could have killed him.' And Hayes as well.
Aetheria had been within my grasp, but my body....
'It couldn't hold up for much longer.' Being a Child of Mana is really fucking me up.
Yennefer will take almost six months to help me.
And even though I thought of using Iffa's abilities... there are still a lot of problems.
'And what is wrong with Anastasia's divinity?' Every time I used her Avatar abilities, my body greedily absorbed her divinity—
It's like I am making her divinity my own.
....Like it belonged to me from the start.
I exhaled, blinking.
A soft, melodic voice echoed. "Do you need help?"
I shifted my gaze toward the speaker.
A woman floated before me, her long, flowing green hair cascading over her shoulders.
Her golden eyes held a gentle, serene expression, while her soft features added to her delicate appearance.
Still lying on my back, I whispered, "Lady Elife."
"You know me?" She asked, without a trace of surprise.
"It's not hard to guess," I replied, trying to sit up—only to fail immediately.
"Just stay still." She said, her body floating beside me. "You need some rest."
I gave a quiet nod, watching her closely.
Despite her youthful appearance, she was ancient.
Her presence felt... fleeting.
As if her body could break at any moment.
'....'
Her gaze met mine as she kept staring at me.
The branches carried me closer to Yggdrasil.
With some effort, I forced myself to sit up, leaning against the tree's bark.
"If you have something to ask, do it now." My voice broke the silence as I met Elife's gaze.
She studied me for a moment before speaking.
"You stole the Origin Energy, didn't you?"
"...."
I quietly looked at her.
'....Inna.' [<Yes?>]
'Can you kill her?' [<She is half spirit and half demigod—>]
'Can you?' [<Of course.>]
"Don't worry," Elife said, finally looking away. "I won't try to kill you."
I chuckled. "Like I'd believe that."
She didn't argue.
The Yggdrasil's branches gently patted my head, while I looked at the barren place.
"How did you know?" I asked, turning back to her.
"I'm connected to Yggdrasil," she said quietly. "I can feel whatever it feels. I knew about you the moment you entered the Tamriel Kingdom."
"So you were aware of the attack on the palace?" I asked, keeping my eye on her.
"I was."
I had the feeling that she did.
"You could've helped us," I pressed, frustration creeping into my voice.
"Then I wouldn't have been able to meet you alone." Her golden eyes didn't waver. "Mariam would have interfered."
I sighed, rubbing my temples.
"The Yggdrasil meant to replace this one is already dead." I informed her, watching her reaction.
She sighed softly and nodded. "I expected as much."
"....Are you not mad?" I asked, fully turning toward her.
She tilted her head slightly. "Why should I be?"
Confusion coiled in my mind.
"Won't you die without Yggdrasil?"
"I will die anyway," she murmured, settling beside me.
I frowned. "How?"
"When an old Yggdrasil is replaced, my memories are erased," she explained, smiling faintly.
"I become a new person, growing up with the new Yggdrasil... guarding it until I die again… and again."
"..."
I nodded slowly.
I wasn't sure how to feel about her.
She is basically an eternal slave.
"If this Yggdrasil dies...." I began, looking at her. "You will die forever?"
"I believe so." She replied, nodding gently. "A death from which I will never wake up."
"What about the elves?" I stretched slightly, trying to ignore the ache in my body.
"They will live." She replied, smiling softly. "...They still have hope of finding the new Yggdrasil."
"...."
I lowered my head.
Guilt twisted in my stomach.
I hated this feeling.
Without a word, I kept staring at her.
Finally, I asked, "What do you want?"
She looked at me.
Her golden eyes held no malice.
"Transfer a little bit of Origin Energy to Yggdrasil." Her voice was earnest—almost pleading.
"..."
I stared into her eyes.
It's not an absurd wish as I thought.
"What consequences would I face?" I asked, because that mattered most.
My own safety.
She sighed. "You would lose a month of life—"
"I will not do it." I cut her off, groaning as I stood back up. "I don't have much to live anyway."
"Himmel—."
"I said no." I interrupted coldly. "You can't convince me otherwise."
"You took everything that Buinal possessed from the elves," she said softly. "At least help them—"
"It wasn't me who stole them." I replied, averting my gaze. "It was my daughter."
[<She took after you.>]
'She didn't.' Huh?
My gaze abruptly shifted toward the white Pegasus flying in the air.
What's Corvina doing here?
[<You know her?>]
'....Yeah.' It's Yennefer's spirit.
Wait, did Zenith also contract with it?
Before I could think further, Elife's voice pulled me back.
"I can give you something precious."
I turned to look at her. "What?"
She raised her hand.
A small, golden and crimson seed materialized, hovering over her palm.
I tilted my head in confusion. "What's this?"
"Yggdrasil's seed." She replied, staring into my eyes. "Well, a mutated one. Corrupted by hell's energy."
She gently pushed the seed toward me.
"Let Yggdrasil live a little longer," she whispered. "Just long enough to hold back Lazā."
"..."
I hesitated as the seed kept hovering in front of me.
Crouching down, I buried my face in my hands.
I am going to regret this.
I'm definitely going to regret helping the elves.
But—
I sighed.
Pushing myself up, I turned toward Yggdrasil.
"Let's get this over with."
What do you think?
