Chapter 331 Future That Past Rejected.
'Hmm?' A castle floated high above Lumina, its pale stone walls glowing under the sun's golden light.
Towers spiraled into the sky, their pointed blue slate roofs cutting against the clouds.
Delicate bridges wove through the structure, connecting different wings like veins in a living thing.
Glass domes gleamed like scattered gemstones.
Waterfalls spilled from the castle's edges, tumbling into mist before they could reach the ground.
The landscape below mirrored the castle's beauty—rolling emerald grass, wildflowers, and a crystal-clear lake that reflected the endless sky.
'Another dream?' 'She' wondered.
Her perspective shifted.
Everything around her grew larger—no, she had grown smaller.
She was no longer herself.
She saw through someone else's eyes.
A little girl knelt by the lake's edge, her reflection rippling in the water.
Chubby cheeks framed a face full of innocence, and long, wavy blue hair was tied in a ponytail.
Bright purple eyes stared back at her.
The girl smiled.
She cupped the cool water in her hands, then stood up, giggling.
Spinning on her heels, she sprinted toward the towering oak tree nearby.
Beneath its shade, a man lay sprawled against the trunk, fast asleep.
"Wake up, Uncle!"
She tossed the water at the sleeping man.
"Argh."
The man jolted upright, sputtering.
Greyish-gold eyes snapped open, locking onto the culprit.
Annoyance flickered across his face—then melted as soon as he heard her giggles.
Water dripped from his jet-black hair onto his rumpled coat.
"You're a menace, Avilea," he grumbled as he wiped his face with a sleeve.
Avilea bounced on her toes, clutching the hem of her dress. "You promised to play with me, so stop sleeping!"
He let out a long-suffering sigh. "Let me rest at least. Taking care of all your siblings is exhausting."
"Liar," Avilea huffed, crossing her arms. "Mama takes care of them."
He snorted under his breath. "Like hell they do. Your mamas are too busy fighting over your father's attention."
"No!" Avilea exclaimed, shaking her head. "All my mamas are good! Don't talk bad about them."
A quiet pause.
The man studied her for a moment, amused.
Who taught her that?
Probably Christina. Shaking his head, he ruffled Avilea's hair.
She pouted, then quickly brightened. "So are we playing now?"
What do you think?
