The abilities of «White Throne»
Plus Range was the skill that would give a bonus on the effective working range of a «Skill» or «Spell». A short example was, a spell whose shooting range was only two squares could now extend to 12 squares. Though the obstacles do limit them.
«Recovery Dampen Resist». This skill prevents the drop in potency of recovery effect.
It was already known the effect of skill or spell would drop when crossing the boundary of a square. The spell which should've dealt 100% damage would deal only 50~70% of its original damage. And once it crosses the second square boundary too, it probably could only kill an ant.
So the combination of two skills allowed the user of «White Throne» to be the long-range healing gun. And it's super strong. Like a broken level of strength.
«Recovery Dampen Resist» was actually level 9 when I had obtained it back then, but there wasn't any crime bigger than to keep the upgrade pending and I promptly decided on using «Skill Strengthening Orb», bringing the level to 10.
Well, you wouldn't see long-range healers in the arena. Moreso because there was no way to stop the decline of spell or skill potency from square to square. Everything would be in vane.
So it was a trick exclusive to «White Throne», and might be limited to healer jobs, but that's something that could be ignored. The advantages of this need no explanation.
Though this alone had brought the «Temple Saber» to be one of top guilds, there was one another aspect to it. A secret—or I guess, a combination that just worked heavenly when together.
The hint was—or well, not maybe not by much—«Seraphic Saintess». «Seraphic Saintess» was an advanced job that just wouldn't appear unless... you used the «White Throne». Surely "wait, why?" thought must have appeared in everyone's mind. There had to be some specific reason, wouldn't it?
The answer was plain—«White Throne» was in fact a piece of equipment created with «Seraphic Saintess» job first and foremost. The key details were 'assumed to be equipped by «Seraphic Saintess».'
Of course, this wasn't an exclusive weapon, so it allowed anyone, as long as they're healer, to use it for what its skill allowed.
But, the true transformation appeared when «Seraphic Saintess» equipped it. ——By invoking the magic «The Saintess Prays For Healing», *every single* magic of the «Seraphic Saintess» would gain a new classification, which was «Healing».
To give a basic rundown; anything dealing damage was labelled attack, but, the difference lies in their 'type.' Different jobs, different types of attack.
The same was for the «Skill», and their classification. If it attacks, it gains the classification of «Offensive Skill», or «Defense Skill», or «Healing Skill» when they were meant for protection or recovery respectively.
A generic explanation, but that should be the hint. Anyway, the skills however had no hard limit of having only one classification. Like «Brave» skill «Guard Rush»; it raises the defense while dealing three consecutive attacks, so it had both the affixes of 'Offense' and 'Defense.' Or the «Charisma», which taunts all the nearby enemies while granting buff to allies, giving it the affixes of 'Taunt' and 'Strengthening.'
There was also the 'Attribute' like fire or thunder etc, but that was the basic gist.
Everything was probably self-explanatory by now.
«The Saintess Prays For Healing»—It was one of the «Seraphic Saintess»'s 4th order spells . When invoked, the skill introduced the 'recover' affix to all the magic of the user.
Normally, this was something that was supposed to be used with «Seraphic Saintess»'s unique skill «The Forever Ever Grace of A Saintess's Prayer»—the unique skill grants an additional add-on with any positive buff casted by <Seraphic Saintess> on other.
Basically, when casting any sort of strengthening stuff, the said target would also get an additional ‘continuous healing’ effect. It might not appear to be massive at a glance, but its importance couldn't be said enough in the raid battle or guild battles. This was a cornerstone tactic for when healing was out-of-reach for the allies.
Though of course, this reason was a bit weak to justify the effort to get it for Lana.
Returning to the topic, with the effect of keeping the potency of healing spell even at the long distance by «Recovery Dampen Resist LV 10» and the 4th order skill that added 'recovery' classification to the spells—«Seraphic Saintess» could engage in long-distance full powered attack.
And this was what made it a game changer. The offensive spell like «Four Sacred Shining Saber» could now be made effective outside of the square without having a shred of relevancy to the 'Healing.' Of course, the spells only gained the 'recovery' affix in name, it doesn't heal them, and were the same old 'damage dealing attack.
In fact, the following line could be found written in the walkthrough sites for «Dungeon Activity» when visiting them—"Even if a giant sword is coming at you, just accept it without fear, for this is the grace of her holiness (believe in the saintess)!"
Overall, turning the «Seraphic Saintess» into an artillery weapon was the original purpose of the «White Throne». And it is one of the reasons why, despite being a healing oriented job, «Seraphic Saintess» was ranked 3rd in the Advanced Division: The Strongest Job Ranking (Official).
"And this is pretty much the explanation. I am counting on you to provide the tactical attack, Lana."
"Oh sheesh, you really do trouble me so much, Zephyr. But very well!"
And thus, Her Highness Lana replied in response, putting up an air of pretense, though that eagerness oozing out of her was hard to be hidden.
We were currently near the central mountain, but slightly west to it. (J-16 in map). It was the location where I and Ester had found the fortress. Located in the southeast from the fortress, we were at least 11 squares away. (Map in comment sec, site still kinda having problem with image)
Lana's effective range of magic was 12 squares, so we were barely within the range.
After our initial re-grouping, I had formed a raid team with attackers, and of course, with Lana as our mainstay.
Behind us, basically extending toward the south, was our Class-1's defense line, a measure to prevent the attack from the north. From our position, it also allowed us to snipe on any group trying to approach our base. This was why we had put forth a resistance to secure the strategic location.
With a fanfare this big, indeed, my plan was to take down that fortress with our artillery style.
I know, I know. How out of norm strategy this was. It's like sending planes in the battle of chariots!
Ahem, anyway, the thing was the fortress built by Rina was quite sturdy. It even had three HP bars! They sure had put their soul into strengthening to this degree I say.
«Barricades» were quite special items, bearing the HP much like bases. It wasn't tough to destroy them, but as long as the HP remained, the base was impossible to be taken down.
"But my words, Rina really has outdone herself with these fortresses. I just feel a bit sorry to destroy them."
"Yeah, sorry? ...This is one thing we need to discard. Don't pull your punches, alright?"
"W-What do you take me for? I know where to put importance! Just watch me!"
"Alright, but you do remember we're to start with support first, right? It's not yet time to bring the sword. Act according to the plan."
"I-I know!"
I made sure Lana remembers our plan, and finished our preparation.
Lana was the sole attacker in our entire operation, so it wouldn't be a quick takedown of the fortress. And the enemies surely wouldn't stay silent while the skills were on cooldown. So with her as the cornerstone in our strategy, the rest of us would act as the shield for her, keeping any potential attacker away.
On the other hand, I had asked Lana to suppress her firepower for the starting so as not to give out her location. If anything, bringing chaos in the opponent camp, and then swooping them in one attack when they're huddled together in confusion was my first goal.
With the following strategy in play, we began our raid on the fortress erected by the alliance of Class-5, Class-12, and Class-51.
Our opening pitcher—or bruteforce enforcers, if I may—were;
"Time to bring shine to these muscles, «Machos»! Are you all ready?"
"Aye, yes! Leave everything to these muscles!"
Alan raised his war shout with each eyes, while flaunting his muscles.
They're vanguard to cut through the wave of the enemy. With their muscles, they should be able to bring down enemies in the first phase.
«Brawny Warriors» boasted an absurd amount of status, however for the price, it made it impossible to equip equipment, which was why they're not exactly the best. But now, with Lana's support healing, the muscles could fearlessly clash against the enemy in their full glory.
What do you think?
