Chapter 615 615: Challenges Daimon & Nethereal sisters, Jazmine’s version (part 4)
Let alone asking Michael to keep his real strength hidden, Jasmine didn't even know he was capable of what she just witnessed, that being said the youngest of the Nethereal sisters perfectly kept a calm front in the face of the enemy queen's accusations.
Which is something to be praised about, one must know that until not too long ago the princess of the Light Palace was too innocent even naïve in part because that is her nature and in part because she had a fierce bloodthirsty guard in the shadows in the form of Sarah.
Since the crazy girl has always been sensible towards lust it wasn't hard for her to notice the intentions of the many youngsters from the Elemental Sea's forces that approached her, and so Sarah beat the living crap out of them.
She even did so in secret so that they wouldn't have the face to speak about it or it would be akin to admit that they as outstanding members of the young generation of Neptune were one-sidely destroyed, which is why Sarah's strength remained unheard off and Purplehaze who by the way was also beat black and blue by her, after trying to ask his master to arrange a marriage between himself and Jasmine, was considered the strongest in the young generation from the Elemental Sea.
A system user was literally needed to somewhat bypass Sarah's protection, and even then, she still fought and stopped Adam from laying his filthy claws on Jasmine back when even Aurora was tricked by his heroic façade, buying time for the previous to feel suspicious which ultimately led to the light hero not having a chance to do anything before Jasmine herself realized the kind of scum he was.
Anyway, the point is that by following the flow without letting it show in her face that she had no idea of what Michael just did, thus creating the image that she had seen through the schemes of the Balax Lord, Jasmine has proven how much she has grown ever since she was abandoned to die by Adam that day.
'As bad as it sounds it's good that she has experienced the cruel results of being naïve in this world… at least like this she won't be used as spare lives', thought Daimon upon seeing the slight cunningness that Jasmine had gained.
'That crazy girl couldn't "corrupt" that little girl even after more than 10 years of influencing her, but you did it in less than two months, as one would expect from my dear predator host~', jokingly said Evangeline making Daimon raise an eyebrow at her.
'What "corrupt"…', he tried to defend against Eve's claims, just for the administrator girl to land the last nail to his coffin.
'Well, prior to the time when that crazy girl drank your poison for the first time, your connection with her was the strongest out of the three of them and so was your influence on her, so you'll have to take responsibility for the results since you quite literally stole one of the "princesses" prepared for the light hero user~', she added.
Daimon remained silent as he was lost in his thoughts for a moment, before he focused back on the battlefield where Michael was currently separated from his opponents by a double layered wall of rock and water.
…
A moment ago, when the result of Michael flashing in the direction of the knight was revealed, the bishop who had failed to warn her teammate in time, because even she completely lost track of the enemy for a split of a second, immediately did what she was supposed to and gave support to the knight.
"Legion Reinforcement, Blue Barrier!", a large amount of mana poured out of the bishop's body which was then further amplified by the blue pillar standing behind the bishop, the result was a giant wall of water that completely surrounded those two, preventing Michael from approaching them.
At the same time, the knight who remained conscious though in a bad state after losing a big part of the right side of his body, added a layer of rock, since he had experienced firsthand the piercing power of which the enemy was capable.
"Forcing me to resort to the trump defensive card of the blue support corps, since when are triple affinity mages appearing among low mortal ranks", cursed the bishop only for the knight to retort.
"You still have all your limbs so why are you complaining, instead of healing", he said as he spat blood to the side, the bishop's claims were understandable, in the thousands of years they had been serving their lord, they had gotten rid of many stranded people and not even once did a low rank mortal, which would the equivalent of a star ranked mage or knight with triple affinity, appeared.
Gaining affinities is hard but not impossible, after a certain point it's not rare to see that everyone has two affinities, some even get to awaken a third one, however gaining or awakening a new affinity doesn't mean it is immediately usable, since one has to train on it from the very beginning.
And so, until said affinities are usable for the mage or knight in question, they are not considered to have double or triple affinities, the condition is for it to be relevant enough, like Daimon who posed as a triple affinity knight using metal, light and lightning, he was considered so because the three were strong enough to be relevant at his current level, which is extremely rare.
In fact, many if not most peak Arch ranks back at the four galaxies have a second affinity gained due to either a resource, training or any other fortunate encounter, but the vast majority haven't developed them to the point of being usable in an Arch level fight.
"Calm down, so what if he has lightning affinity as well, let him try to pierce through Blue Barrier with it, it will give me enough time to "fix" you up", said the bishop with a strange almost unnoticeable light glowing in her eyes as she used regeneration banner on the knight.
Unlike before, his limbs weren't severed but they completely disappeared, so the healing and regeneration would take way more time and energy, the knight knew it so while the bishop stopped the bleeding and closed the wound, he created a prosthetic arm, leg and the part of the abdomen that he lost, with rock, to then attach it to his body with his battle aura and compact everything with his rock armor like before.
"Keep that guy outside for a much as you can, I'll prepare a big "surprise" for him in the meantime", said the knight as he sat down cross-legged and his body started to radiate brown battle aura.
"Fine, just remember that Blue Barrier consumes a lot of energy", said the bishop as she tapped her staff on the ground to add more nether to the barrier, feeling the rumbling coming from outside of it.
"Booom!", the origin of the rumbling that the bishop felt was of course Michael's doing, he flashed and then slashed the barrier at extreme speed with his daggers cutting through the rock layer and reaching the water one, where things got tricky as the water nether was not only harder to cut due to its fluid state but also slowed him wearing down the piercing power of his attacks.
'Quite the defensive spell, I bet that if tried to use lightning I will still end up at the border of the other side of the barrier and then I'll be attacked by the electricity produced by myself', thought Michael to then smirk.
'If I really had obtained lightning affinity that is…', he thought as he threw the eight flying daggers he was holding between the spaces of his fingers in completely different directions, to then firmly hold his remaining regular sized dagger with his right hand.
The atmosphere around Michael changed like it happened before, this time however let alone turning into a flash, he didn't move at all, this continued for a couple of seconds before a blinding red glow enveloped his dagger.
"Red Thunder Slash", Michael has never been the type to announce his techniques, as an assassin before entering the academy he practiced his main movement and attack spells to the point where he could use them with silent casting, of course when he used their names it was still easier for him to cast them, but there was no need for him to do so for battles at star ranked level.
So, the fact that he spoke the name of a spell out loud, meant that he has a really low mastery of said spell and for someone who takes pride in preparations like Michael, that means it has to be a way too recently learned spell.
With a swift move, Michael slashed his dagger vertically towards the barrier that obstructed him from reaching his target and then…
"Boooom!", a deafening exploding sound rumbled throughout the whole battlefield, now imagine the expression on the bishop when a path that reached all the way from the inside of the barrier to the outside was created in an instant, opening a path for the bishop to see Michael who was discarding the leftover part of the handle of his dagger which again disappeared alongside his spell.
Even if she was surprised to see Michael taking a big part of the right side of the knight's body, the spell he used still went according with the fighting style he has been using, since he basically disappeared from sight and next the knight had been half killed, but that, that was not an attack one would expect from an assassin type mage, well unless we are talking about an Arch ranked one who can unleash such destructive spells with ease.
"H-He blasted a hole in the Blue Barrier alongside a wall made with earth battle aura, wasn't he a damn assassin!", she exclaimed in disbelief to then raise a rotating water barrier around herself and the knight, just in time to block the eight flying daggers thrown by Michael earlier.
"Crack!", the sound of something shattering made the bishop raise her guard, her nether has grown thin enough so that the daggers made deep cuts into it without any problem.
"Damn it", the bishop cursed, her mana reserves were about to hit rock bottom, but then just when the rotating water sphere protecting them was shredded to pieces by the daggers, the knight opened his eyes.
"Earth Infantry Berserker!", with a loud shout, the body of the knight was encased in battle aura which was then absorbed by the rock layer that covered his body as well as the rock replacement he was using as a right arm and leg.
A strange pattern was then engraved on the rock layer covering his body, one which Daimon recognized perfectly as they resembled the markings at the black stone corridor from which he entered the magic ruin, though they were way less detailed than the ones he saw, these ones appeared to have some sort of effect instead of being just records.
'I guess it would make sense that if anyone from the nethereal army had some relation to that place, it would be the one that lead them', thought Daimon as he observed with attention to the result of the martial art used by the knight.
Michael suddenly appeared within the area protected by the barrier, as for the bishop, she slowly retreated giving space for the knight to stand up, his current state made Michael frown, the rock layer that used to cover his body had integrated into his skin, spikes of rock from which battle aura was radiated from time to time, emerged randomly on his body.
The gaze of the knight also became way fiercer, his eyes were filled with anger as he glared at Michael while saying.
"Run", naturally that wasn't directed to his opponent but to the bishop who didn't need to hear it twice by the way, as she had already put quite a lot of distance between herself and those two, even going as far as to leaving the space which was encircled by the barrier.
"So, no more healing or support?", casually asked Michael as he took out another regular sized dagger from one of the many secret compartments in his clothes, making the knight snort as he looked at his right arm and leg.
Even after the rock layer and his battle aura armor had somehow integrated with his skin, it was still quite easy to notice that his right arm and leg weren't like the rest, since there was no trace of flesh there.
"You'll pay for them, I'll have our healers make me a new leg and arm out of your severed limbs", he said as the patterns on his body glowed, the next thing that everyone knew was that the knight had appeared in front of Michael, he had already discarded both his small shield and the short sword so he simply punched towards Michael.
A whistling sound was produced due to the speed behind the punch aiming at Michael, which actually took the latter by surprise, the knight had become way faster than before, which was strange considering his fist had solid rock spikes coming out of it.
"Clang!", Michael slashed his dagger at the fist of the enemy and the sound of metals colliding as well as sparks were the result of their clash, his attack couldn't pierce the skin of the knight at all.
'Even when he reinforced himself with battle aura, I could cut through his defenses with just wind mana enhancing my dagger, so that pattern uses the same amount of battle aura but gives him a way better result…', thought Michael in the split of a second before he slashed with the dagger in his other hand just in time to clash with the incoming punch from the knight.
"Booom!", those two started flashing all over the battlefield while clashing, producing thunder-like explosions all over the area, as amazing as it sounded an earth knight was though temporarily, still able to keep up with Michael's serious speed.
Something that reminded Daimon of Amber's fighting style, since the tanned tall jewel princess was insanely fast for being both an earth affinity knight, the difference being that while this enemy was using a boosting spell and a movement martial art, Amber only relied in her innate ability which's applications alongside the ones from Scarlet and the others, were still somewhat of a mystery even for Daimon.
"Come on, bring that green flashing light from earlier, otherwise you won't be able to do anything to me, slippery bastard!", excitedly screamed the knight as he kicked at Michael's right side, only for the latter to jump and contract his legs to completely avoid the enemy's attack.
"And here I thought you'd show me something interesting, but this doesn't even come close to the headaches that bastard causes me on a daily basis", Michael's calm voice made the fierceness on the knight's eyes shot through the roof, add to that the fact that Michael turned his eyes away from the enemy to look upwards as he said.
"This is enough right, he is stupid enough to exchange his rationality for speed and defense which he can't properly wield without a clear mind, so I don't think he has anything else to show".
"Mm, I have seen enough", an unexpected soft voice answered Michael, besides an anomaly like Daimon, the only outsiders that could communicate with the ones participating in the fights among the designated pieces, were their respective queens, so the one who answered was none other than… Jasmine.
Apparently, she actually asked Michael to make sure the enemy revealed all his cards before putting an end to his fight, which did align with Michael's goal since he was raring to get back at the nethereals for what happened to them earlier, so no one expected her to have taken the initiative to trick the enemy.
"Did you have something to do with this?", mumbled Reyne as she gazed at the crazy girl who was all smiles right now.
"That's my little Jas, don't forget to ask for a reward from our beloved king~", shouted Sarah from the observation area, making Reyne sigh while Jasmine on the other hand blushed on the spot.
On the other hand, Daimon who was floating a few centimeters away from the Light Palace's princess could practically see the word "Praise me" written all over her face.
'Despite her practically non-existent social skills, Reyne had a decent cooperation dynamic with the others, Sarah who is too damn excessively "social" completely did things her way while letting her teammates sort things out by themselves and the usually meek Jasmine ended up actively commanding her teammates, a trait caused by their netheral part perhaps?', wondered Daimon.
Those three were related to the nethereal Lords, which makes them nobility among them and if ranks worked the same within the nethereal society and they should be quite high up the ladder, considering the appearance which Bell saw when she fought Byron that had a crown imprint where his face should be and that the manifestation of Reyne's innate ability was a crown and while Sarah kept it a secret, there is no way she was worse than anyone when it came to anything nether related.
"Ahem, I'm preparing a little surprise that will come in handy for you later", said Daimon, he had learned his lesson after giving the crazy girl a "blank check" which came to bite him in the ass right away, of course unlike Sarah, Jasmine wouldn't pull a fast one on him… probably, but still he decided to take the initiative this time.
Which made a certain Nelapsi girl pout since asking for a reward didn't cross her mind back when it was her turn.
"You have to be more aggressive, even little Jas is outplaying you, if you want to, your big sister will give you tips~", jokingly said the crazy girl making a vein pop on Reyne's forehead.
"N-Never, you menace, besides even without asking he still jumped in to make sure I was fine", cutely retorted Reyne in a rush, very much to Sarah's amusement as her giggles after getting the reaction she wanted from her younger sister, suggested.
'Ugh, I fell for it, damn it!', inwardly cursed Reyne, leaving the nethereal sister's aside, the knight was trembling due to anger right now, he went as far as to use his trump card, the boosting spell he was granted after proving himself as a warrior in front of his Lord and yet, the enemy was not taking him seriously despite the fact that he could now keep up with his speed and practically negate his attacks at the same time.
"I told you to use that green… aghhh!", amidst the knight's complain a green flash bypassed him, peeling the rough surface that had became his skin in all the left side of his body this time.
"Green Lightning Piercer", Michael's voice reached the knight's ears a second later.
"Oh, I guess that spell does have some merit, since your limbs are still attached to your body this time, but there is no need to drag this down anymore", casually said Michael who had appeared a couple of meters behind the knight, the dagger he was holding had basically disappeared leaving behind only the handle which Michael threw away as he spoke.
The knight whose left side of his body had lost the rugged layer of skin mixed with rock spikes and those patterns, causing him to bleed in multiple parts, shouted and a new layer of that reinforced skin grew back.
"You want to kill me with that, dream on!", roared the knight as he charged towards Michael, only for him to suddenly stop around a meter before reaching him.
'Don't act tough, you barely kept your body together after that attack and lack the strength to even exert half of your previous battle prowess, so you know what that means', a cold female voice echoed in the head of the knight whose face turned white as paper.
"Y-You bitch", the cursing of the knight as well as the sight of the remains of the water barrier from earlier, enclosing around them, made Michael frown but before he could do anything, a familiar voice could be heard coming from afar.
"Legion Reinforcement, Bloody Victory", the body of the knight suddenly enlarged as the giant pillar of water from earlier, was absorbed into his body, Michael's pupils contracted like needles as he opened his mouth to mumble a couple of words, which were drown by the sound of an explosion.
"Boooom!", the body of the knight ruptured and water and blood nether mana as well as earth battle aura exploded in every direction, the water barrier around the knight and Michael was immediately obliterated and what's more, the roof of the barrier covering the battlefield shattered and broke apart.
It was a huge explosion that surpassed the limits of the barrier and engulfed more than a third of the battlefield, from afar, the bishop who was panting saw the red gem which was embedded into the head of her staff crack and crumble apart.
"To think, we'll have to resort to use a stored spell to get rid of a mere low mortal ranked enemy, damn triple affinity short bast…", the angered voice of the bishop was stopped in cold by a dagger which entered from the backside of her neck and came out at the other side.
"H-How… ghhhrl", the bishop surprisingly didn't die on the spot, probably because she had a regeneration spell active on her all the time, while blood filled her mouth she looked backwards while trying to force the dagger out of her throat only to realize that the thing was stuck there.
The dagger was had actually slightly melted and attached to her flesh, the reason as to why she didn't feel the scorching pain that should have accompanied that, is because the regeneration banner had healed before she could even register the pain, meaning that it had happened so fast that her brain couldn't process it in time before it was healed.
"Why didn't you fry yourself to death with that lightning of yours!", managed to spit the bishop, her throat healed itself enough to allow her to speak properly and she was holding the dagger with her hand which was covered in water nether preventing it from being used to behead her.
"You guys really like to make assumptions, I don't remember having affirmed to have lightning affinity", said Michael as he let go of the dagger and disappeared from plain sight.
"Nonsense, maybe you were too fast for that guy but I saw with my own two eyes the green lightning that was produced when you ripped his skin and limbs out of his body!", she screamed as she tried to take the dagger out of her throat only to fail at the pain produced by her flesh which had healed being torn apart when she moved the dagger too much.
"Damn it, just go to hell already!", frustrated over the near-death experience and the pain she was feeling, not to mention that she had to use a one time reward she earned thanks to her contributions as well as being "forced" to sacrifice the knight, the bishop glowed in a red light and then patterns with a completely different design to the ones used by the knight, appeared all over her body.
"Battleground Bloody Rain!", the patterns on her body didn't reinforce her but they did take all the nether she had managed to recover as well as the nether from the atmosphere and surprisingly the blood from the knight which was splattered all over ground when he exploded earlier, mixing all of them together to produce a red cloud above the whole battlefield.
'Let's see you dodge this', inwardly screamed the bishop as countless red needles poured down from above, even she was targeted by her attack but the needles that reached her turned into a red liquid in order to not turn her into a sieve, however anything else in the vicinity had countless miniature holes drilled into it.
Continuous clinking sounds echoed through the battlefield, the rain lasted a whole five seconds in which the region was devastated by the red needles, by the time the rain ended there was a thick dust raised due to the countless small impacts.
But then just as the bishop looked for the disfigured corpse of the enemy, since there was no way, he could dodge or block the strongest technique she had, as it was prepared by her Lord to specifically deal with assassins, a few different sounds reached her ears with fractions of a second of difference.
First and formal, a series of clinking sounds in an organized rhythm echoed in her ears, what followed was listened by everyone instead of just the bishop.
"Booom!", it was a loud explosion, which strangely didn't reach the level of the one caused when the blue haired assassin created a breach in her barrier, which made the next even more surprising for the bishop.
"No way…", she managed to say before her head separated from her body, only then did Michael became visible, his body had yellow electric currents crackling here and there.
"Yellow Storm Discharge", Michael's voice was only heard after the attack had landed, but since that was the name of the spell he used, he had to have spoken it before, in other words, his speed even if for a split of a moment, had reached the point where he moved first and the casting of the spell was heard quite a few seconds after that, hence why the bishop was convinced her attack had destroyed her enemy.
And the previous was surprising, because such a speed was not something let alone a star ranked mage, but even a Lord ranked one should be able to achieve even if we are talking about a speed focused lightning mages which should be the fastest powerhouses in average with very few exceptions.
In other words, Michael… just surpassed the fastest speed which his own teacher, the one recognized as the fastest being alive in the White Fang galaxy as of current, had back when he was the same age!
What do you think?
