Chapter 616 Vortex Viper
After heading downstairs, Veronica instantly felt what it was like to be a real boss.
Almost everyone in the crowd quieted down, with none daring to utter a single sound. From loud chattering filled with gossip, into a silent atmosphere instantaneously because of her appearance, how wicked awesome was that.
However, when the crowd soon realized aside from Veronica, no one else was coming from downstairs.
In their mind, they started to wonder who Veronica was. After all, in such a grand auction, shouldn't the Vanguard Guild be putting someone influential or well-known in charge.
People such as Lin Feng, Lunar Wraith, or the elusive Shadow Blade.
Despite their confusion, they still kept quiet and waited patiently, seemingly still thinking that there was more to come. Unfortunately, that thought process was quickly rejected the moment Veronica opened her mouth and spoke.
"Hello everyone, I'm Vortex Viper, the person who would be in charge of the auction." Veronica introduced herself, much to the crowd's disbelief.
A few seconds later, some of the more informed crowd began to recall the name, Vortex Viper.
"Vortex Viper, wasn't she one of the participants in that Fortress of the Fallen Raid as nonaffiliated?"
"It appears that she joined Vanguard Guild afterward."@@novelbin@@
"If I recall, she didn't have much of an impact. Connection sure is an amazing thing."
Without much of a surprise, the conversation quickly shifted to how Veronica used her connection with people to attain her position.
Of course, there were even a few who believed she slept with one of the upper management in the guild. Otherwise, how was it possible for someone like her to be the organizer?
Had it been someone like Carmen who took charge, nobody would have dared to question her qualifications.
Someone like Carmen who went all the way out to Skyland City and massacred to the point that a first-rate guild cower and relented was definitely qualified!
However, Lunar Wraith?
She wasn't even in the top 10 contributor list during the raid!
As the crowd's muttering couldn't escape the ears of many, Veronica didn't get mad or anything. Rather she kept a calm expression and smiled lightly.
"I'm sure many of you are wondering about my qualifications and what rights I have to stand right here as the organizer," Veronica said, her eyes gazing at those who had their mouths constantly yapping up and down.
"Then let me ask you this question. What rights do you have to say I don't have the right to stand here?"
Almost immediately, those who were judging Veronica earlier turned silent. It wasn't that they didn't have any reason that they had in mind, but rather they didn't dare to question someone from the Vanguard Guild who clearly was cozy with the higher-ups.
Trying to argue against her was equivalent to slapping the face of whoever decided to put her in charge.
With those who were skeptical of her being silenced effectively, Veronica didn't press further on the matter. Her objective had been completed and that was to remain firm on her stance.
Had she shown any weakness or even attempted to apologize, then these bunch of wolves would have preyed upon her without hesitation.
'Just how did the Guild Leader manage to withstand this kind of pressure daily?' Veronica wondered silently, having realized the amount of pressure Xu Feng must face whenever he made a move.
Nearly all eyes were placed on him with the achievement he had accomplished till now. These people were eagerly waiting for him to make one mistake and latch onto that to cause a big scene.
Putting the mindset aside, Veronica went to the podium which was in the center for display.
She then retrieved an item from her inventory and placed it on top of the podium. "Without further ado, the first item that would be put for auction is this Greater Experience Potion Buff!"
"A Greater Experience Potion Buff?"
"This is a joke, right!"

"Are we being treated like some naive kid?"
The crowd was stupefied and stunned by what the Vanguard Guild was offering. An Experience Potion Buff wasn't uncommon to them— no, it was safe to say that it was extremely common.
Everyone who was seated today at the auction had their own experience potion buff. Otherwise, they wouldn't even be at their current mainstream level.
A few of the players were confused but still raised their hands to ask questions. After all, unlike the individual players who had no qualms in blabbering whatever was on their mind at that instance, they were people who represented their guild.
There was no way in hell they would embarrass their guild by behaving the same like the hooligans.
"Yes, you are?" Veronica smiled and stared at a Berserker player.
"I'm Road Pike from the Trion Guild." Road Pike introduced himself, while casually dropping he hailed from the first-rate guild, Trion.
"May I ask what is so special about this Greater Experience Potion Buff?" He continued, seemingly asking a polite question. But the truth was that Road Pike was ready to rain hell on Veronica if the answer wasn't satisfying.
"That's a good question, Mister Road Pike." Contrary to his belief that Veronica might be scared, she held the item up high and displayed the information.
"You all must be wondering why would we auction such a common item, but is it really a common one? This Greater Experience Potion Buff provides a 300% EXP increase for a duration of one hour. If this is what you call common, then please forgive me, but why aren't your levels higher than they should have been?" She declared loudly, sending all those doubtful expressions into the shadow realm.
Like a thunderous storm had just occurred, the crowd's expression appeared as if they had been struck repeatedly— to the point of turning silly.
None of them had thought the supposedly common item was actually a super ultra rare item.
'Hmph, want to undermine me? The Guild Leader specifically handed this item to me to dominate the atmosphere.' Veronica sneered inwardly.
What do you think?
