Chapter 650 High Table Club
The color of Zhao Kai's eyes turned completely white— an exaggeration of course.
He had thought Xu Feng was finally being a true brother and covering for him. However, the reality couldn't be any worse.
Rather than covering for him, Xu Feng went ahead and exposed his intention. As if that wasn't enough, he poured salt on his wounds, claiming that he was a coward who wanted to be laid but couldn't.
"Ugh, I didn't know my little brother was that desperate." Seemingly disappointed, Zhao Xin shook her head and said, "Make sure not to play too late. Kai still needs to go to work tomorrow for more training, and I won't be lenient just cause he's my little brother who wants to enjoy some adult content."
After saying her piece, she turned around and began walking back to the mansion.
"Wait a minute, sister!" Zhao Kai cried aloud. "It's not what you think."
Alas, whatever he shouted seemed to have gone on deaf ears as the door shut tightly, with Zhao Xin not glancing at him once.
Feeling helpless, Zhao Kai then felt his shoulders being patted.
"It's okay, Kai. Even if you can't get laid at the club, at least there's alcohol for you to drink your sorrow." Xu Feng laughed heartily.
A true brother would definitely enjoy his friend's misery in some teasing or scenes like this. Only a fake would cover for them in such a hilarious opportunity.
"Feng, I'm definitely going to drink till you go broke." Zhao Kai gnashed his teeth, stomped his feet, and declared solemnly.
"Sure, I wonder if you can even consume that much alcohol." Xu Feng mused, clearly not putting his declaration to heart.
Drink till he goes broke?
Was there any alcohol that would cost him millions of dollars?
Sure, there were definitely some alcohols that cost a lot, but from the clubs?
That was a funny joke!
Sometime later, Xu Feng drove off and quickly activated Vera to do the driving.
"By the way, Feng. Have you figured out who the attackers were?" Zhao Kai's face was solemn when he raised the question.
"I try to use the network that I have access to, but everything is restricted. Grandfather and eldest sister wouldn't tell me either. They said if I want to know, then I can only ask you." He added, informing Xu Feng that he had tried to investigate, but to no avail.
Chuckling, Xu Feng wasn't surprised that those two would use Zhao Kai to pry information. They probably also knew Zhao Kai wouldn't lie or conceal bits of it from him.
"What's your current level with the Phantom Step?" Xu Feng asked.
"My level huh?" Startled, Zhao Kai knitted his brows, and replied, "It should be intermediate level. I got most of the foundation laid down and can use it multiple times without feeling exhausted or drained."
"Then have you noticed that your perception increased when training it?"
"Oh, yes. My eldest sister was quite surprised when she saw me spotting an object that was coming at us from afar and managed to react so quickly."
Zhao Kai then relayed the events of how it was an ex-employee who wanted to get revenge on Zhao Xin for firing them simply for being close to Zhao Heng.
Naturally, that ex-employee was subsequently jailed and charged with assault.
As for pleading?
Zhao Xin was not the soft-headed type to forgive someone who intended to harm her well-being.
"Feng, I know you must think badly of my eldest sister for not forgiving them even though the ex-employee family kneels and begs for days. But we had to remain firm to prevent similar incidents from occurring." Zhao Kai clarified, hoping that Xu Feng wouldn't have a bad impression on her.
"Relax, do I seem like the type to not understand her logic?" Xu Feng chuckled, reassuring him that such an action wouldn't give him a bad impression whatsoever.
The fault lies on the ex-employee for not knowing who to choose to support.
In fact, had the ex-employee chosen to remain neutral as a regular office worker, then he would have been fine. Now, not only did he get fired, but he also proceeded to double down on the mistake, inadvertently causing their family to suffer the consequences of their action.
"Okay, good. Just wanted to make sure." Zhao Kai breathed a sigh of relief.
Sometime later, the duo continued to discuss, with Xu Feng giving more guidance on how to improve his strength.
And without Zhao Kai realizing it, Vera finished parking the car by the curb and informed the two that they had arrived.
"Eh, that quick?" Surprised, Zhao Kai exclaimed in shock. He thought it would take around 20 minutes or so to arrive without heavy traffic.
"We've been chatting for a while already." Xu Feng responded calmly.
"I-Is that so? Why did it feel like only a few minutes had gone by?"
"It's similar to how when you get to play games, time goes by super fast but when you need to attend classes, the time seems to be slowed down by 10,000 times."

Nodding, Zhao Kai found this analogy flawless. Indeed, attending a course lecture was definitely a chore as opposed to gaming.
Shortly after getting out of the car, Zhao Kai's eyes nearly popped out from the long line that seemed to stretch for more than 10 street blocks.
His mouth was left agape, almost as if he was trying to calculate how long they must wait before they could enter. After all, the line didn't seem to shorten at all and it was evident on the faces of those lining up being quite impatient.
"Feng, did you make a reservation?" Zhao Kai turned to him and asked.
"I know any newly opened club must be popular, but I never expect it to be that mega-popular." He added, his fingers pointing at the nonexistent end of the line.
Amused by Zhao Kai's reaction, Xu Feng didn't have the heart to mention that the High Table Club wasn't just any random club. It was a club meant for high society and a place to establish connections.
'I'll just let Kai enjoy without knowing for now.' Xu Feng thought.
What do you think?
