Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 662: Canceled

When Zhang Tie Quan accidentally raised his voice toward Zhang Jingyi, the former realized his mistake.

Zhang Jingyi’s expression turned sour.

"Uhh, I didn’t mean to raise my voice." Zhang Tie Quan hurriedly apologized.

"Am I one of your subordinates?" However, Zhang Jingyi pressed on and questioned him. "How could you raise your voice against me? They say you have a bad temper, but I didn’t expect you would show that temper to me."

"I-It’s my fault, Jingyi." Zhang Tie Quan smiled bitterly. "I only made a slip of the mouth because you suddenly revealed the information that I said is only meant for a limited number of people."

"And did you think he wouldn’t know?"

"Eh? He got a high status to compete for it?"

As the two conversed, Xu Feng acted nonchalantly, his eyes gazing at Zhao Kai, who was enjoying himself on the dance floor.

’Indeed, my body may be young but my mind is no longer the same.’ Xu Feng sighed softly.

For people their age, clubbing was supposed to be fun and exhilarating.

However, he couldn’t find himself enjoying the club event. Now that he had achieved his objective, he was more eager to hop back to the Divine World and resume his progress.

Nevertheless, he decided against it and chose to spend some time with Zhao Kai. They rarely had the time to play like the old days, and it was crystal clear to him that Zhao Kai was enjoying this moment.

Amidst his daze, he suddenly felt a slight tap on his arm. He turned around and noticed Zhang Jingyi was staring at him with an amused expression. Read exclusive content at NovelBin.Côm

"What’s so amusing?"

"Hmm, so you really didn’t pay attention to our conversation." Zhang Jingyi exhaled a soft sigh.

The fact that he didn’t even notice she had sent his brother away to order some side dishes for them meant he wasn’t interested one bit.

"By the way, were you really here for the sponsor?" She inquired.

Initially, Xu Feng planned on ignoring the question, but Zhang Jingyi didn’t seem to be letting him off easily. She would look at him with puppy eyes— the kind that was very annoying yet nothing could be done.

"Oh come on, my brother is currently ordering side dishes on my behalf. And shouldn’t you tell me just a little bit?"

"Why are you asking about it when you already know the answer?" Xu Feng twitched his brows. Others might have mistaken Zhang Jingyi for being an annoying woman at the moment, but that was just her misdirection.

Her action was equivalent to causing the other party to lower their guard and reveal a crap ton of information without realizing it.

Sure enough, when Zhang Jingyi realized how cautious Xu Feng was, she knew she couldn’t obtain any valuable information.

Although she wasn’t completely positive, she had a suspicion that Xu Feng must have failed to obtain the sponsor. Otherwise, the employee wouldn’t have attempted to kick him out of the table.

"Ugh, just why are you so cautious by nature?" Zhang Jingyi pursed her lips, leaned back on the soft couch, and glanced at him with a skeptical look.

"First, you gave me a fake name and then proceeded to deactivate the tracking devices in the electronics I gifted you. And now you’re even withholding a lot of secrets. Just what could you possibly be hiding to be that cautious?"

Amused by her statement, Xu Feng merely smiled and took a few sips of the alcohol.

Zhang Jingyi narrowed her eyes at his calm composure. "Feng, could this be your second chance in life?"

"That’s right." Xu Feng responded almost immediately.

"Tsk, did you take me for a fool?" She rolled her eyes and continued, "You don’t act like your age as well, so you definitely experienced something traumatic for such a change."

"It sure is traumatic to be next to your presence."

Sometime later, after some back-and-forth bantering, Zhang Tie Quan returned with a sullen expression.

"We might have come at a bad time." Zhang Tie Quan explained to his sister. "Apparently, some people infuriated the owner, so the sponsored event was canceled."

Startled, Zhang Jingyi raised an eyebrow.

"The sponsored event was canceled?" She gasped and proceeded to look around.

As her eyes wandered, she noticed more and more people were taking their leave. It was clear that most of them weren’t actually here for clubbing but waiting for the sponsored event.

Right at this time, Zhao Kai returned to the table with a darkened expression.

"Feng, what’s wrong with them?" He was frustrated when he took his seat, unaware of Zhang Jingyi and Zhang Tie Quan’s presence.

"I was having fun and then they suddenly received a text message. Once they read it, they told me they got to go and straight up dip me. Like what the hell was that?" He continued, grabbing his cup and chugging a mouthful of alcohol.

What he felt was no different than getting dumped right after being together for less than 10 minutes.

While he was grumbling, Zhao Kai finally noticed there were two new faces.

"Z-Zhang Jingyi?" He exclaimed in shock.

"Hello," In response, Zhang Jingyi smiled amiably and waved her hand.

As for Zhang Tie Quan, his face was less than friendly.

He stood up and turned to his sister. "I’m going to have to return since the sponsored event is canceled. Will you leave with me?"

"It’s fine, you can just go." Zhang Jingyi waved her hand in a dismissive way.

Normally, Zhang Tie Quan wouldn’t have allowed it, but given his previous mistake, he knew he had to resign this time. "Alright, but don’t take too long. You know how Father is. He’s going to scold me harshly if you don’t return soon."

A few seconds later, Zhang Tie Quan left, not even giving Zhao Kai a simple hello in return.

"There’s no need to mind my elder brother." Zhang Jingyi explained.

"He’s just disappointed that a certain someone spoiled his objective." She continued, her eyes trailing at Xu Feng. Without a doubt, the cancellation of the sponsor was most definitely related to Xu Feng.
