Rekindled Hearts: The Tycoon’s Reluctant Love

Chapter 62: The Duplicitous Fourth Master

Chapter 62: Chapter 62: The Duplicitous Fourth Master

Gu Siting was heading to an important banquet that evening.

He was on his way when he received the call from Aunt Zhong.

Driving in front lay Lu Zhou, who clearly felt Fourth Master’s aura turn colder.

Could it be that his wife had caused some trouble again?

Gu Siting’s jawline tightened, his expression revealing a frosty sternness and seriousness.

“A little maid goes missing, and you need to find me for this?”

He had misunderstood her before, but he had personally picked her up last night and even apologized. If she was still upset, what did it have to do with him?

“We need to find you and Steward Zhong,” Gu Siting hung up the phone.

Ming Yao was always causing trouble, and now even a little maid at home was not giving him peace.

Gu Siting loosened his tie a bit and pressed his temples with long fingers.

He planned to rest with his eyes closed and gather his spirits when suddenly, the scene from this morning as he left the Imperial Garden flashed in his mind.

The little maid had been fawning over him, and at the time he had scolded her.

“Gu Fuzhen, I’m married.”

“Flattering me won’t work, just do your job well from now on.”

What expression did she have at the time?

He hadn’t paid close attention, couldn’t quite recall, but it seemed like she froze for a moment.

Could it be that just because he scolded her, she was upset again?

Doesn’t she know her own status?

Does she think she’s entitled to aspire to him?

As a little maid, doesn’t she have a smidgen of self-awareness?

If a reminder from him was all it took for her to threaten life and limb, he didn’t need such servants.@@novelbin@@

But he didn’t want any deaths on his hands either!

Gu Siting opened his dark, cold, and narrow eyes, and looked to Lu Zhou driving ahead, “Take a cab to the banquet hall, and explain to Minister Liu that I have something on tonight and can’t make it.”

“Fourth Master, if you don’t attend, we might not secure the Ya Bay project…”

“Do as I say.”

Lu Zhou felt secretly alarmed.

What could possibly be so important that he would risk delaying the Ya Bay project?

Lu Zhou dared not ask more and had to get out of the car as instructed.

Gu Siting drove himself toward the direction of the Tube Building.

Ming Yao followed Old Madam Ming back to the old Ming Residence.

Ming Yao covertly observed the servants in the old residence.

There was Nanny Rong, who had served Old Madam Ming for many years, meticulously and intimately, and didn’t seem like someone who would poison her.

But the poison in Old Madam Ming’s body had to have been administered by one of the several people here.

Who exactly it was, Ming Yao still didn’t know.

Old Madam Ming insisted Ming Yao join her for dinner, and despite checking the time and initially wanting to leave, Ming Yao relented due to Old Madam Ming’s persistence and stayed to dine with her.

After dinner, Ming Yao handed a bottle of medicine to Old Madam Ming.

“Granny, this medicine can replenish vitality, fight viruses, and strengthen the body. Take one pill every day.”

Old Madam Ming accepted it with a kindly smile, “My Yaoyao is becoming more filial.”

When Ming Yao left, she encountered Ming Guoan getting out of a car in the courtyard.

She didn’t acknowledge him and walked straight past him.

Ming Guoan’s face turned ashen, “Ming Yao, don’t you even greet your dad when you see him?”

Ming Yao turned to glance at Ming Guoan, her smile mocking, “Oh, it’s the selectively blind Trashy Dad. Is there something you want?”

Ming Guoan almost choked on his anger.

Before he could say anything, Ming Yao, with hands in pockets, walked away with rebellious nonchalance.

Ming Guoan went to Old Madam Ming, his face grim, “Mother, look at what you’ve indulged Ming Yao into becoming!”

“What’s the matter?”

“She called me selectively blind and a Trashy Dad!”

Old Madam Ming, who was preparing to take the medicine Ming Yao had given her, looked up at Ming Guoan, “Did Yaoyao say anything wrong?”

Ming Guoan, “…”

Never mind, Old Madam Ming doted on Ming Yao with no principle, and if he tried to reason about Ming Yao, she would only take her side.

Ming Guoan glanced at the medicine in Old Madam Ming’s hands, “Mother, what is this?”

“Something Yaoyao gave me.”

Ming Guoan snatched the medicine from Old Madam Ming’s hand, sniffed it, and with a frown, tossed it into the trash can, “This is clearly traditional medicine. She doesn’t know medicine; where did she get this? It’s dark and isn’t it just a random bottle bought to fool you? Throw it away; don’t ruin your health with this stuff!”

Not long after Ming Yao left the Ming Residence, a sports car pulled up in front of her.

Seeing the person getting out of the car, Ming Yao couldn’t help but be stunned.
