Chapter 66: Is He Jealous?
Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Is He Jealous?
After attending the evening banquet, Gu Siting was called over to the clubhouse by Yanxi.
Several people played cards until late into the night.
When it was almost time to wrap up, Yanxi shared a funny misunderstanding with everyone, laughing as he spoke.
“We recently hired a new maid at our place, pretty and dainty. She was quite attentive to me, so I suspected she had a crush on me.”
“Today, I teased her a bit, and to my surprise, she blushed and told me in all seriousness that she was so attentive because she really needed the job. She said the reason she goes to my room to bring supper is to see my dog, son.”
Those familiar with Yanxi knew that his dog son was a German Shepherd.
Gu Siting’s dark eyes shot a glance at Yanxi, his thin, rosy lips pressed into a straight line.
For a few seconds, he suspected Yanxi was insinuating something about him.
After all, when he had left home in the morning, he also thought their little maid had other ideas about him.
Yanxi didn’t notice the change in Gu Siting’s expression and continued to laugh heartily, “Have you guys ever been guilty of wishful thinking?”
With a snap, before anyone else could answer, Gu Siting threw his cards on the table and stood up to leave with a cold face.
Even as Gu Siting walked away, the people in the private room hadn’t quite recovered from his reaction.
After a while, Yanxi blinked his peach blossom eyes and said, “Gosh, what’s gotten into Fourth Brother all of a sudden?”
“Brother Yan, could it be that Fourth Master had a moment of wishful thinking and got embarrassed?”
“Hahaha, that’s possible!”
When Gu Siting got back to the Imperial Garden, he saw that the lights in the living room were still on. As he was changing his shoes, he glanced inside.
Ming Yao, holding Little Snowball, immediately stood up from the sofa upon hearing the noise.
“Fourth Master, you’re back?” Ming Yao’s eyes sparkled with an undeniable joy, as if his return was something she was genuinely happy about.
Gu Siting frowned his sword-like eyebrows and asked in a cold voice, “It’s so late, you haven’t gone to bed?”
“I was waiting for Fourth Master to come back.” Isn’t she a diligent little maid!
Yet, Gu Siting’s frown deepened.
In the Imperial Garden, the servants never had to stay up late.
Why had she waited until now?
Looking at her sparkling eyes, as if she really needed him to come back, Gu Siting’s frown became even more pronounced.
Does she not realize that her current appearance could easily be misunderstood?
Gu Siting glanced at Little Snowball, who was sleeping in Ming Yao’s arms, and who barely lifted his eyelids when he returned, before heading upstairs with an unhappy expression.
Watching the cold and unfeeling silhouette of the man, Ming Yao, “…”@@novelbin@@
She hadn’t offended him, had she?
Before he went upstairs, he had glanced at Little Snowball; was he jealous because Meatball wasn’t paying attention to him?
Ming Yao patted Little Snowball’s head, “You’ll sleep in your master’s room tonight, just so he doesn’t fire me out of jealousy!”
“Meow meow meow~” Mommy, it seems like you’re the one who made Daddy angry~
Ming Yao put Little Snowball down, “Call me when your male owner comes down after his bath.”
Twenty minutes later, Little Snowball came running down and jumped into Ming Yao’s arms, letting out a meow.
“Is he done?”
“Meow~”
“Is he in his room?”
“Meow meow~”
“Went to the study?”
“Meow~”
Ming Yao, holding Little Snowball, hurried upstairs.
She took the man’s clothes from the closet and then hurried downstairs.
As Gu Siting came out from his study with a document, he happened to see Ming Yao’s figure rushing down the stairs.
His sword-like eyebrows slightly knitted, he wondered why this little maid always gave him a sense of familiarity, as if he’d seen her somewhere before.
Sometimes, he would even overlay her silhouette with that of another woman.
His mind really hadn’t been quite right lately.
About to enter his room, he caught sight of something on the floor out of the corner of his eye.
What do you think?
