Returning to the Mysterious Era

Chapter 261 - The Bane of Indestructibility

Chapter 261 - The Bane of Indestructibility

Cassius looked down and uttered two words, "Let's begin."

He stepped forward to confront the two black-clad bodyguards walking toward him. At the same time, he activated the aura of Red Falcon Fist, locking it tightly against his body. The aura, which had killed countless dark creatures, was tightly under control, so he seemed like an ordinary person.

"Gentlemen, there's an open seat over here, please follow me," one of the black-clad bodyguards spoke coldly, seemingly trying to guide Cassius, Feng Liusi, and the others in his direction.

However, instead of following, Feng Liusi and Saint Feinan each chose a different path, walking off without acknowledging him. Compared to the fixed-menu offerings of a formal restaurant, the three of them preferred a buffet.

They liked to choose what they wanted and mix it as they pleased.

When the other two ignored him, the bodyguard turned to Cassius.

"Sir..."

Swoosh!

The glutton struck with his red blade, slicing through the unsuspecting ingredients. Cassius extended both arms, sweeping them out in a smooth gesture like a conductor on a stage.

Two red lines trailed through the air from his fingers, floating lightly but moving swiftly. The lines resembled threads as they passed gently but precisely across the necks of the two black-clad bodyguards. Without warning, their heads rolled off their necks and onto the ground like rubber balls.

The headless corpses stood frozen, their muscles stiff from how quickly they had died. They remained upright for a moment before slumping against the wall, then finally collapsing to the floor.

Cassius had struck at a precise angle. The blood spurting from their bodies only splashed the back wall, leaving the spectators in the back row unaware. In fact, they were so engrossed in the intense action happening on stage, that they didn't hear the muffled squelch of flesh behind them. They were still pumping their fists in the air, red-eyed, as they screamed for blood in the arena.

Cassius lowered his blood-stained hands and continued walking calmly. Death's Fang Force coursed through his veins like flowing water, breaking through the surface of his skin and exploding into the air. The blood evaporated into a fine mist. His hands were shrouded in a light crimson mist.

Tap... Tap... Tap...

The sound of his boots echoed faintly, masked by the commotion.

He lightly patted the backs of two more bodyguards as they turned to face him. His hands closed around their heads and slammed them together with brutal force. The two skulls collided face-first, their features meshing grotesquely. Blood dripped from their chins as their faces were crushed, and the two men fell to their knees, their black suits soaking in the spreading pool of red.

On the other side, Feng Liusi was even more ruthless than Cassius. He reached out with his hand and directly ripped through flesh. The claw-like motion of the Southern Dipper Red Falcon Fist swatted a man's head off like a ball. The remaining headless body spurted blood like an uncorked bottle of champagne, spraying everyone nearby.

In the last row of seats, a man crouched low, fists clenched tightly, his eyes fixed on the execution scene in the ring. Suddenly, he felt a warm sensation on his scalp.

The underground arena was indoors, so it couldn't have been rain.

Must've been someone's spit, that jerk in the back row must've gotten so worked up he spat on me!

The bald man was about to turn around when he suddenly remembered he was in the back row. He touched his head, looked down, and saw his hand stained with red.

"Is this...blood?"

He turned his head sharply, just in time to see a kneeling, headless corpse collapsing to the ground, blood spurting from its neck.

Just as he was about to scream, a shout rang out from nearby.

Ahhhhh!!!!

A member of the Blood Spirit Society, hidden among the audience, had sensed danger. As Feng Liusi passed by, the man had tried to ambush him but had his arm ripped off in retaliation. Before he could react, Feng Liusi's punch, infused with the power of Death's Fang, sent him flying.

The bald man watched in horror as a figure flew screaming through the air before landing two to three meters above the ring.

Boom!

An explosion of blood followed as internal energy detonated within the body. The Vulture, who had been preparing to kill the Black Wolf in the ring, was instantly drenched in flesh and blood. The commentator on the side platform was also splattered, while the terrified Black Wolf screamed in panic.

"What's happening?!"

"What the hell?!"

The originally frenzied audience suddenly erupted into chaos. Someone had been thrown into the ring and then exploded?! What was going on? Was this some kind of bloody stunt by the underground fight organizers? Or was it just a dummy?

Boom! Boom!

As if in response to their confusion, two more figures flew overhead, spraying the crowd with blood.

"Ahhhh!"

The screams filled the venue as the once-excited audience was gripped with terror. Many stood up and rushed for the exits, their enthusiasm doused by the sudden threat of death.

In no time, the arena was thrown into pandemonium.

At the same time, the black-clad security personnel in the surrounding corridors quickly recognized Cassius and his companions and started moving to encircle them. Some people in the crowd began to fight back. Two of the bodies that had exploded mid-air belonged to members of the Blood Spirit Society.

However, despite the growing chaos, Cassius's expression remained unchanged. This was merely the first step. Five to six black-clad bodyguards charged toward him from one of the side passages, reaching for their black pistols.

The barrels were aimed at Cassius, and the sound of gunfire rang out as bullets flew, riddling the wooden seats with holes and leaving bullet marks on the walls and floor.

But a lone figure walked through the barrage as though he was completely undeterred by the storm of bullets. Cassius slowly raised his right hand, his fingers forming the shape of a gun. He aimed at the group of bodyguards.

Then, he whispered a single word, "Bang."

Ssss...

A sharp, electric whine pierced the air as a bullet formed from Azure Wind Flow and Bloodthirsty Ripple streaked through the air, leaving a crimson trail behind it.

It instantly struck someone in the head, leaving a scorched hole the size of a ping-pong ball in their forehead. A moment later, their skull exploded from the rampaging internal force. A ripple of crimson spread out several meters like lightning, causing two nearby gunmen to collapse, their bodies trembling.

Cassius charged past the group of gunmen and straight for the members of the Blood Spirit Society rushing toward him. Five to six black-clad bodyguards lay strewn across the corridor, motionless.

Meanwhile, outside the Grimm District, a black car was parked in the shadows of an empty road. You An peeked out, looking at the brightly lit White Ocean Bar not far away. He had just seen three gang members walk inside.

The butler, sitting in the driver's seat, sighed softly and turned to look at You An, whose face was tinged with disappointment in the dark. "Young Master, let's head back. These three are probably just here to drink and have fun. They're gangsters after all, living life on the edge, and they need to blow off steam at night."

The butler's old fingers tapped the black leather of the steering wheel, silently cursing Cassius and his group for being such irresponsible gangsters. They had dragged him and the young master out here for nothing. The young master hadn't even completed his daily meditation yet...

The administrator grumbled internally as he prepared to start the car, but suddenly, a few people came rushing out of the bar in a panic, their faces filled with terror. The atmosphere was filled with anxiety.

A moment later, more people poured out, some from the bar's main entrance, others from the alleys on either side. Well-dressed gentlemen were in a frenzy, their previously slicked-back hair now disheveled. One man even lost a shoe while running. A scantily clad woman was knocked to the ground, exposing her full, pale chest. She clutched her ankle in pain, her heavily made up face scrunched in a pitiful expression, but no one stopped to help her. Everyone was too focused on escaping quickly.

The woman, on the verge of tears, forced herself to cling to the wall and struggled to stand, limping as she went.

"What's going on?" You An turned, curiosity written all over his face.

The fleeing crowd was loud, and it didn't take long for someone to realize that something had gone wrong at the underground fighting arena. Soon, a few people in black clothing dove into the tide of fleeing people, heading for the underground arena. Their sharp, menacing auras, and the bulges at their waists, hinted at the firearms they carried. They were clearly not ordinary people.

At the same time, members of the Blood Spirit Society, stationed in a temporary hideout in the Grimm District, were alerted and began making their way over.

"Butler! The gang, those gangsters really did start a fight!" You An's disappointed expression vanished and was replaced by excitement and anticipation. He could make out several gunmen in the crowd. They had clearly noticed the trouble at the arena.

"I see it." The administrator nodded, then asked You An, "Young Master, would you like to check out the shootout?"

Inside the underground fighting arena, the air was thick with the stench of blood. The noise of the chaos and the screams of the crowd grew fainter as the spectators fled. Only the sounds of gunfire and the clash of fists and feet remained. Three men were each fighting their own brutal battles, surrounded by groups of quickly moving humanoids.

A completely surrounded Cassius was still calm as ever. His raised index fingers glowed bright red, like burning candle flames. This clash with the Blood Spirit Society had allowed him to verify the characteristics of the Dead Blood. The most obvious trait was their regenerative ability. They could even heal severed limbs.

Unless they were beheaded or their hearts were destroyed, they had no real weaknesses. The Dead Blood parasites granted their hosts extraordinary physical prowess, as well as the ability to turn blood into weapons. The Dead Blood were particularly troublesome within the ranks of dark creatures.

If they coordinated properly, they could overwhelm higher-level opponents with a horde of low-level fighters, just like in the ruthless massacre that had occurred in the past. This terrifying indestructibility was already a problem for those parasitized by Dead Blood while still alive. But if they were fully controlled by the Dead Blood after death, the situation would be even more exaggerated.

Most members of the Blood Spirit Society were living people parasitized by Dead Blood, seemingly serving as cannon fodder and henchmen. Fully developed Dead Blood entities had yet to appear.

For a combat artist like Cassius, the ordinary members of the Blood Spirit Society were not much of a threat as long as he targeted their two vital points. Saint Feinan fought efficiently, quickly decapitating his enemies with his long whip. However, Cassius soon confirmed his original theory. He experimented with his strikes, using Death’s Fang Force to repeatedly maul his attackers.

As the battle continued, the Blood Spirit Society members who had accumulated enough Death's Fang Force in their bodies suddenly noticed that their regenerative abilities had plummeted. Wounds that previously healed in an instant were closing as slow as a crawling turtle. Worse yet, some tears and injuries stopped healing altogether.

This threw them into a panic. The greatest advantage Blood Spirit Society members held wasn't their superhuman physical prowess but their terrifying healing ability. If that was neutralized, they could die from their wounds!

Severe injuries, damaged organs, and unstoppable bleeding; they now had to fear the same things ordinary people did. Yet, the Blood Spirit parasites inside them were powerless to help.

This strange, peculiar force was not energy but something that moved through their bodies like a fish swimming in water. Wherever it passed, muscles tore, blood vessels ruptured, and bones shook. It was as if the force was specifically designed to target living flesh!

"One-twentieth of an acupoint. That’s when the balance between their regeneration and Death's Fang Force is maintained." Cassius leaped back, having reached his conclusion.

He found that he needed about one-twentieth of an acupoint's Death's Fang Force to neutralize the Blood Spirit parasite’s healing ability. Thus, the amount of Death's Fang Force currently in Cassius' body was enough to suppress the regenerative abilities of more than two hundred Blood Spirit Society members.

At the same time, the Southern Dipper Red Falcon Fist, when pitted against the Dead Blood, showed an unusual level of restraint. This force, which specifically targeted flesh, seemed to be particularly effective against dark creatures with indestructibility. Whether this was a general rule or an exception still needed further testing by Cassius.

Since he had been focusing on his experiment, the Blood Spirit Society members in front of him were not seriously injured, and only three to four had died.

However, on the other side of the arena, things were far bloodier and more brutal. Feng Liusi had littered the ground with severed limbs, gory remains, and dismembered skeletons. The Blood Spirit Society members attacking him had long been wiped out, and Feng Liusi had already moved on to slaughter the enemies attacking Saint Feinan. With over forty acupoints developed and the terrifying passive effect of the fourth-stage Death's Fang Force, he was unstoppable. Like the Blood Fist of the past, he only needed to touch his enemies' bodies to peel off their skin and flesh, leaving only stark white bones behind.
