Ch 84: Encountering the Man.
Rey heard everything Aiden told him and started thinking about why such high beings were here. While it could be understood that they might be here to find a new heir for the family legacy, which could be the reason he got the laws on his screen, he wondered why he would be selected.
Based on the discussions of all three and his current progress, Rey was sure that his talent wasn't worth investing in, as he might not even become a Tier 3 according to Victor.
"So, what should we do now? I don't think there is anything left in the inheritance or whatever it is," Rey asked Aiden, who was lost in thought when he got an idea.
"Wait, I know of a method that might help you get some information," Aiden said as he went inside him and started to do something.
At first, nothing seemed to change inside him, but after a few minutes, Rey began to feel something. A large amount of mana moved toward the area on his left hand where the ring tattoo was embedded. Rey felt nostalgic as the mana passed through him, like something was opening inside him that he couldn't explain in words. While feeling nostalgic, he also felt pain as his whole hand turned red over time.
It felt like someone was blocking his blood flow, which might have been just presumptions, but it did cause pain, though not enough to make him scream. Aiden wasn't responding to his calls as he moved a high amount of mana, possibly half of the whole body's mana, into the left hand.
The muscles in his hand started to grow in size as if ready to burst open. But just before reaching the limit, the mana reached the ring tattoo, and the black color over it began to shine more glamorously.
It seemed as though the color was alive and ready to consume everything in its path. As the mana was rapidly consumed over time, Rey felt lucky to have Victor's ability to regen the mana in such high speed like it was already hundred times his original speed of recovery due to the ability.
As a few minutes passed by, the mana was still being squeezed, and the quantity was increasing until it finally stopped its absorption.
Aiden, who was transmitting the mana, also stopped to avoid bursting his hands from the overflowing amount of mana circulating in them.
"What the hell happened just now?" he asked as he saw him appear while wiping some imaginary sweat from his forehead.
"Nothing just thought that maybe the tattoo needed a certain amount of mana to open, but didn't know that much, and it did work as these types of tattoos need mana to operate," he explained. Rey, who was eyeing the ring tattoo, found that the ring felt much different than usual.
"So does this mean that now this can be used?" Rey asked as he observed the changes occurring in the tattoo.
It was spreading across his entire hand like a mystic tattoo people made to show off.
"But why is it growing right now? If it was just on my finger, it was manageably unnoticeable but now it's totally visible to anyone who gives it a little attention," he said, even Aiden was surprised to see such growth in the tattoo, which he didn't expect to happen.
"Well, I am also confused as my knowledge about this type of tattoo is still a little low compared to normal ones. So, the only thing we can do is wait and watch to see what secret it holds," he said. Rey, who was confused, didn't even get a sincere answer while the mystery of the ring was becoming more complicated.
"Argh~~! Where the hell was my destiny written off from?" he said. Before he could do anything, his sight became blurry, and he started to lose control over his body. He tried to blink his eyes to regain focus, but nothing worked, and he fell to the ground of his room, with his consciousness fading away.
The trio who watched it rushed him and tried to check his body, but nothing seemed suspicious or harmful in his body. It was as even they were absorbed into his body, which shut down into a locked-down mode or something.
The only thing still active was the change in the tattoo, which was almost complete and came to an end after covering his left hand upper back only area.
It had unseen symbols and lines drawn in it, which looked very attractive. It even shone at intervals, although Rey, who was unconscious, didn't know about it.
Thankfully, his room gate was locked from the inside. If his mother had seen it, he would have been doomed to die by her beating for getting such tattoo.
But we can't decide on that... yet, as something was happening inside Rey might bring some change for him. Whether the changes would be good or bad, no one knew.
[White Space]
Rey was seeing something much more complex now as he was inside the space where Aiden and two others resided inside him. The problem was that someone besides them was inside it, sipping something from a cup, while Aiden's mouth was open in a strange way looking at him with widen open eyes as even other two were shocked to see the man.
"Oii, what the hell is happening here right now? Why is there someone inside me without my knowledge?" Rey said. No one talked, but just the sipping sound of the liquid the man drinking could be heard.
Aiden, who had been silent, started to change his reaction from shock to anger. His mind boiled with anger until it exploded.
"I... WILL KILL YOU~~~," he said as he lunged at him with whatever he had. He used his telekinesis ability to its fullest, making the furniture float and rush toward the man to attack. But to his dismay, nothing even touched the man. Everything obliterated one thing after another by a strange slit-thick, transparent, darkish barrier.
After some restless, non-beneficial, one-sided rushing by Aiden, who was now taking breaths to restore his energy.
"Did your worthless attempts end or will they continue?" Finally, the man who was a myth and mystery spoke for the first time, but to Rey's surprise, his face and voice were robotic, devoid of any emotion, with a cold aloof manner, as if nothing happening around him mattered.
"I won't let you get away, you robotic brat. I will kill you for trying to my master that day" Aiden said. At first, Rey didn't understand, but his eyes widened when he realized why Aiden was trying to kill the man.
The person he told and spoke of in his story, with whom his master battled in the abyss, was now sitting in front of him, perhaps in his mind or soul.
Aiden was taken away, by Victor and Zero, to prevent any further trouble, as he still intended to try to harm the man.
The man said something that caused Rey's mind to halt momentarily to process his words,
"Okay, now that the hinderance is gone, I may introduce myself.... I am Veylen Shadowthrone, the person responsible for drawing you into this grand play of destiny, which will undoubtedly devour you one day or another like all other family members..."
