Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)

Chapter 198: Sensing the Bloodline

Third Person's POV

Excitement coursed through him as he shifted his focus.

He directed his soul sense to his heart which was the lifeblood of his existence, and dove deeper into the minute pathways of his body.

His awareness shrank and concentrated, and in an instant, it felt as if he were falling into a crimson abyss.

The expanse before him was vast and filled with endless crimson flows and countless tiny red structures that floated in clusters.

He recognized them, they were blood and tissue cells.

Ethan marveled at the sight and was momentarily lost in the microscopic universe within himself.

But he pressed on and narrowed his focus to the very core of a single cell.

Soon he entered it and found himself before its nucleus, which was the seat of all genetic information in a being's body.

The dark sphere loomed like an ominous dark planet shrouded in what seemed like deep dark clouds, though some occasional flickers of silver arcs of energy slithered through them like phantom lightning.

A sense of foreboding welled up within him, but he suppressed it and advanced.

If there is any proof of my Devil Bloodline, it must be here.

Yet, just as he attempted to delve deeper into the mysterious sphere, an overwhelming force repelled him.

An intense sense of agony exploded in his mind like a starburst, and his vision blackened.

A searing pain wracked his consciousness and his very soul felt as though it were being shredded apart.

Ethan gasped and jolted back to reality. As of current, his breath was ragged and his body was drenched in sweat. Experience tales at My Virtual Library Empire

A pounding headache hammered against his skull and he could feel his soul sense drained to the point of exhaustion.

"It seems I have reached my limit," he muttered and rubbed his temples as he tried to steady himself.

His strength was simply not enough to probe the deeper mysteries hidden within his very being.

A grim determination took root in his mind.

If I want to wield the full power of my bloodline, I must understand it. And to do that, I need to grow stronger.

Steeling himself, Ethan reached for his spatial ring. With a flicker of intent, a beautifully crafted wooden box appeared in his hands.

Its surface was carved with intricate designs that formed an eye at the center and it exuded an ancient aura that gave an eerie sense of mystery.

He hesitated for a moment as a flicker of reluctance crossed his expression but he knew that he would have to use it eventually.

With a sigh, he pricked his finger and let a drop of crimson blood fall onto the carved eye.

The moment his blood touched the surface, it seeped into the delicate grooves and traced its network of intricate lines.

A soft click echoed in the dim carriage, and the lid slid open.

Inside, nestled within velvet lining, lay a single gray pearl.

Holding it in his palm, he felt a cool and soothing sensation that spread through his fingertips and into his mind.

He gazed at the Soul Soothing Pearl which was a gift that his Master Nyx had prepared for him on his eighteenth birthday but had given it to him two weeks before the said date.

At the time, he had been uncertain why she had chosen to bestow it upon him so early but now, in her absence, he understood her intention.

Without any hesitation, he pressed the pearl against his forehead. The moment it made contact, it liquefied and seeped into his skin.

A sudden explosion rocked his consciousness and Ethan found himself suspended in a void of infinite darkness that speckled with distant flickering stars.

He felt weightless and disoriented and his sense of self was momentarily lost in the vast emptiness.

Who am I? Where is this?

Random thoughts like these raced in his mind as he struggled to return to reality.

But slowly, a sense of clarity returned and his mind realigned itself with reality. He found himself back in the silent carriage while his heart pounded like a hammer in his chest.

His mind, however, felt different. It was strengthened and his emotions rejuvenated.

He took a steadying breath and then immediately dove back into the depths of his body.

As he plummeted through the crimson expanse this time, the fall was much shorter.

He landed once again on the surface of a blood cell while its vast red plain stretched endlessly before him.

Gazing toward the nucleus once more, he braced himself and advanced once again.

The eerie dark sphere loomed before him, but this time, the resistance he felt was far weaker.

The pain that had nearly shattered his consciousness earlier now seemed dulled and allowed him to push forward.

He entered the swirling darkness of the dark planet-like nucleus and found himself falling through a dark abyss.

As he descended deeper, a faint glow revealed a webbed network of black chains interwoven with strands of light.

His soul sense edged closer, and what he saw made his breath hitch.

Amidst the dark, there were twisted strands of his DNA and something ancient within them slumbered.

The helix-like coils bore a striking duality as some strands were normal black, but others shimmered with an eerie silver-black glow. They were scarce yet pulsed with latent and otherworldly power.

They seemed to be gradually awakening as they slowly spread through the entire structure.

Ethan's pulse quickened. His bloodline was undoubtedly a fusion of two distinct lineages.

The silver-black strands were most likely the key fragments of his devil lineage deeply buried within him.

As he zoomed in even closer, he noticed silver-black cryptic runic characters branded onto them.

They were unlike any script he had ever seen in either of his lives, yet the moment his eyes fell upon them, he understood them completely.

The realization struck him hard. These inscriptions weren't just random markings but they were deliberate and a meticulously preserved archive of his bloodline's inheritance.
