Rise of the Sword Son-in-Law

Chapter 27: Seventh Rank Demon Beast

Xu Ping’an stared blankly at the shattered pieces of the Heaven Peering Mirror in his hand.

Could this valley have a connection with his past life?

When he died that year, the Heaven Peering Mirror disappeared as well.

He never imagined that five hundred years later, he would see it again.

Li Qingyi looked at Xu Ping’an, who was lost in thought, filled with confusion.

For some reason, she felt Xu Ping’an’s silhouette carried an inexplicable sadness, as if he had experienced endless vicissitudes.

She didn’t understand why such a young man would have such a despondent aura.

Xu Ping’an paid her no mind, putting away the fragments of the Heaven Peering Mirror before turning his attention to a nearby letter.

The content of the letter was fairly simple. He had entered the interior of the valley, where he fortuitously obtained the fragments of the Heaven Peering Mirror, but as a result, he was gravely injured by an extremely fearsome Fifth Rank demon beast, and ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Moreover, this individual had only entered the outermost part of the interior; he felt that there were even more terrifying things deeper inside.

"As expected, these fragments of the Heaven Peering Mirror were obtained inside the valley; it seems I really must explore the interior," Xu Ping’an thought to himself.

Afterward, he did another round inside the room but didn’t find any gains.

Back in the outer chamber, Xu Ping’an found that the viper had already left, but it was very likely hiding in a dark corner, ready to launch a deadly attack the moment they hit the road.

Inside the cave, there were no other exits, meaning they had to leave through this place.

"What do we do now?" asked Li Qingyi.

If they left, and if the viper hadn’t gone away, and it quickly charged out, wouldn’t they be doomed?

"You stay here, don’t move; I’ll go out and take a look," Xu Ping’an said.

Having said this, Xu Ping’an walked towards the entrance of the cave.

"You…" Li Qingyi was about to say something, but Xu Ping’an had already stepped out.

However, just as Xu Ping’an stepped out and a moment hadn’t passed, an enormous python head surged forward in an instant.

Xu Ping’an was prepared, immediately turning and dodging back into the cave.

The python opened its gaping maw, attempting to swallow Xu Ping’an whole.

As Xu Ping’an turned to flee, a pellet of elixir quickly popped out of his hand and went straight into the belly of the python.

And Xu Ping’an also evaded the strike, returning inside the cave.

Li Qingyi watched on with a palpable sense of dread; it was too close.

This python, as expected, hadn’t left.

"What did you feed it?" Li Qingyi approached and asked.

"A Fourth Rank Spring Fragrance Pill," Xu Ping’an said with a smile.

In fact, he had anticipated that the python hadn’t left. He had deliberately gone out to lure it into attacking him so he could feed the elixir into its mouth.

Li Qingyi’s mouth twitched.

A Fourth Rank Spring Fragrance Pill?

What would happen to this giant Flame Viper after swallowing this pill?

"Roar!"

At that moment, frantic hissing noises came from outside the cave, filled with intense excitement.

Then, Li Qingyi saw the viper frantically slithering towards the distance, charging heedlessly and crashing as it went.

"What’s it doing?" Li Qingyi asked curiously.

"It’s probably off to find a female snake, I guess. Snakes are inherently lascivious, and taking a Spring Fragrance Pill works best," Xu Ping’an said indifferently.

The potency of the Spring Fragrance Pill was something the giant Flame Viper couldn’t resist.

As he spoke, Xu Ping’an walked out of the cave.

Naturally, Li Qingyi followed.

Out of the cave, Xu Ping’an continued walking into the interior of the valley.

"You still want to go in?" Li Qingyi frowned slightly.

This guy hasn’t given up yet, he wants to go deeper?

"Your strength should have mostly recovered by now, go back," Xu Ping’an said, heading deeper into the valley without looking back.

This valley was related to his past life, so he naturally wouldn’t give up easily.

"Roar!"

However, just then, an extremely terrifying roar erupted from deep within the valley.

The roar was so earth-shattering that the entire valley trembled violently.

A horrific pressure bore down ruthlessly on Xu Ping’an.

Xu Ping’an’s face changed as he staggered back three steps, blood spilling from his mouth.

Li Qingyi’s face also turned pale, but it seemed that the pressure wasn’t aimed at her, but at Xu Ping’an.

"What is that?" Li Qingyi exclaimed in surprise.

"A Seventh Rank Demon Beast, that’s the pressure of a Seventh Rank Demon Beast," Xu Ping’an said with utmost gravity.

The beast was driving him away, not allowing him to get close, but it didn’t seem to intend to harm him.

This somewhat surprised Xu Ping’an.

Li Qingyi was incredibly shocked. A Seventh Rank Demon Beast?

A Seventh Rank Demon Beast actually targeting Xu Ping’an?

"Forget it, now is not the time to come to the valley. I’ll return when my strength has increased next time," Xu Ping’an sighed and turned to leave.

If a Seventh Rank Demon Beast was already driving him away, insisting on advancing could probably result in being directly crushed to death by its pressure.

But why was it targeting him?

Even at Seventh Rank, it couldn’t possibly know his identity from his past life. The only possibility was his Thunder Sword Bone.

The beast must have sensed the aura of the Thunder Sword Bone and feared the Thunder Devouring Sword, which is why it was driving him away.

Thinking this, Xu Ping’an felt it was even more likely.

There were many demon beasts that dreaded thunder, with some naturally restrained by it.

Seeing Xu Ping’an leave the valley, Li Qingyi naturally chose to follow.

As far as she was concerned, the valley was extremely dangerous, and she didn’t want to stay a moment longer.

Upon leaving the valley, Xu Ping’an headed towards the periphery.

With three days left until the trial finished, he planned to begin practicing the Great Brightness Vajra Technique, which would enhance his combat power even further.

As for Li Qingyi, Xu Ping’an still chose to separate from her.

Since her strength had mostly returned, as long as she was careful, she wouldn’t be in danger.

"Commander Shi, I’m counting on you this time. You must kill Xu Ping’an," Chen Tianqing told the middle-aged man in front of him.

"Princely Heir, rest assured. This time I brought thirty men, all Second Rank Cultivators. The target is merely a First Layer of Second Rank, and no matter what tricks he has, he is bound to die," the middle-aged man responded immediately.

He belonged to the Cultivator forces stationed nearby the Prince’s Mansion, tasked with ensuring Chen Tianqing’s safety.

However, Chen Tianqing was usually at the Beichen Sword Sect, where there was no danger, so they were stationed at the foot of Beichen Mountain.

Upon receiving Chen Tianqing’s letter today, they immediately set out.

The man himself was a Third Rank Cultivator and served as a commander within the military of the Prince’s Mansion.

"Good. Commander Shi, have your men conduct a thorough search of this area. You must find him—alive we need a prisoner, dead we need a corpse," Chen Tianqing commanded fiercely.

"Yes!" Shi Ling replied right away and quickly led thirty cultivators clad in Mysterious Iron Battle Armor into the Wilderness Forest.

"Xu Ping’an, this time, you will surely die!" Chen Tianqing’s eyes were filled with rage, his fists tightly clenched.

Zhou Mengyue watched this scene with a chill in her gaze.

Xu Ping’an, you must die!
