Chapter 213 Advance to the Semifinals
The matches in the third round of the Pre-Qualifiers began. As usual, the drawing of participants in each match was conducted.
This time, Aaron did not have the slightest doubt. Lewis and Karen could definitely handle every match they had.
Despite the agreement, Eloise had yet to leave the venue. She remained there to witness firsthand the abilities of Lewis and Karen, because after all, in the future she and the Shadow Ruler would have a lot of interaction, like seniors to juniors.
Everyone knew who Eloise was and what her position was among the leaders of the three major groups. Seeing the closeness between Eloise and Aaron made many people jealous.
The first match began, bringing together two participants from two different groups. Although the abilities of the two participants were not as great as what Eloise imagined, but because of their balanced strength, the match was interesting and fierce. Eloise couldn't even guess the winner of the first match due to the surprise aspect.
"The difference in strength in the High rank group may feel overwhelming, so each match can be immediately determined who the winner is. But, the matches in the low ranks feel different," Eloise explained, slowly enjoying the game.
"That's right. Almost the strength of the groups in rank low is the same and equal, it's hard to predict who will come out as the pre-qualification champion," Aaron said.
"Even so, their abilities are far from enough if they want to win the group tournament. They need to train harder." Your journey continues with My Virtual Library Empire
"I doubt the rank low groups participating are aiming for the title. They're probably aiming for the main round stage if they're lucky, if not, they can at least talk a lot in the pre-qualifying or final qualifying rounds," Aaron said, replying to Eloise's statement.
Eloise responded with a nod. It was unrealistic for a low rank group to aim for the first place in a group tournament, especially since there was no history of a low rank group winning it.
But looking at Lewis, who somehow had a strong aura of magic, Eloise thought that he might have a chance to change and write a new history.
Only time would tell, and it was up to Eloise and the others to support Lewis and Karen in whatever they did.
After a fierce battle, the first match was won by a participant from the group of a Thousand Swords. It was on to the second and subsequent matches.
Lewis will compete against the participants from the Thousand Swords group, while Karen will fight the female participants from the Sky Roses group. Both were in the third match and the sixth match.
"Now, we come to the third match!" declared the match referee.
"The third match pits Lewis of Shadow Ruler against Jaden of Thousand Swords," he stated, inviting the two participants to begin entering the arena.
Lewis nodded. He rose from his seat, glancing briefly at Aaron sitting in the other stand. Aaron responded with a slight nod, a gesture that showed he wanted Lewis to win big and fast.
The man entered the arena from the right, while Jaden arrived from the left. After the match referee explained the important rules they had to abide by, Lewis and Jaden fully understood.
"The third match... Begins!" declared the referee, ringing the bell and the match began.
Not even a few seconds had passed, Lewis and Jaden were already attacking each other. Explosions occurred in the arena, a blend of purple magic from Lewis and golden magic from Jaden.
The audience was mesmerized, they applauded as the third match became the most lively and spectacular match they had ever seen in the Pre-Qualification round.
"So, he's Lewis?" asked Eloise, rising from her seat and stepping close to the arena barrier.@@novelbin@@
"That's right. He is the leader of the Shadow Ruler group. I personally selected him because I thought he had the capability of being a leader," Aaron said.
Unbeknownst to Eloise and Emily, Lewis was a clone of Aaron with his mage tier at the Great Wizard level.
Lewis acted like he was struggling against Jaden for no reason, the man didn't seem to want to be a significant differentiator among the other participants.
In short, Lewis wanted the audience to see him as a person from the general low rank group, it was to protect him from any kind of threat in the future.
Although Lewis held back his strength, his stamina and agility were still superior to the rest of the participants.
After fighting fiercely and relentlessly for the first ten minutes, Jaden loosened up his attacking speed pattern and adopted a more defensive stance.
Eloise realized that, and she praised Lewis's physical endurance and stamina that could last longer in a fierce battle. She was confident that the third match would be won by Lewis.
"The one who can last until the end is the winner."
BLAST!
An explosion occurred after Lewis' purple light ball attack failed to be blocked by Jaden. Eloise gasped, the power and characteristics of the magic Lewis used felt similar to Aaron's.
Jaden was hit and pushed far away until he was thrown out of the battle arena. The referee stopped the fight and announced Lewis as the winner.
"The third match is over with Lewis of Shadow Ruler as the winner!"
"Lewis advances to the Pre-Qualification Semifinals!" announced the referee, to a roar of applause and support from the Shadow Ruler members.
Eloise clapped her hands while nodding occasionally. She was still curious why Lewis had the same magic attribute as Aaron, even though everyone knew the darkness attribute was a rare magic attribute.
She glanced to the side, Aaron looked indifferent by not showing any response to Lewis' victory. His attitude made Eloise suspicious, as if Aaron already knew Lewis would win in the end.
'What's really happening? What is the relationship between Aaron and Lewis?' Eloise asked.
Aaron turned to the side and looked at Eloise thoroughly, "Have you seen it?"
"What?" asked Eloise, startled out of her reverie.
"The match."
"Oh. I have to admit, Lewis' skills are good. However, he needs to practice a lot to get stronger," expressed Eloise.
Aaron nodded, he was glad to see that Eloise didn't show any signs of suspicion towards Lewis' identity.
If that can be maintained, then it is not impossible that Eloise will continue to help the Shadow Ruler while still assuming Lewis is Lewis, not Aaron.
Another match ensued and came up with its own winner. The sixth and final match of the day pitted Karen against the woman from the Sky Roses.
The sixth match began, Karen acted quickly by swinging her flaming sword strongly. Aaron explained that Karen was a member of Sky Sword, she was in the 13th squad that fought with him in the monster raid from the 10th floor to the 25th floor.
Her abilities were much better than the other two members of the 13th squad, both Mona and Sara. Even so, her temper was really unstable. She was sometimes easily angered by something that didn't go her way or her promise.
Eloise watched the sixth match, although it wasn't as tight as the third match but she was happy to see Karen's skills firsthand in the fighting arena.
The match lasted fifteen minutes with Karen dominating the fight. In the end, the enemy surrendered and Karen was crowned as the winner of the sixth match.
Karen jumped for joy, Aaron smiled and clapped his hands proudly. A different response was shown by him when he felt happy because Karen won the match, different when he saw Lewis who won his match.
Lewis and Karen qualified for the Pre-Qualification semifinals, the match referee said the semifinals would be held the day after tomorrow, so the participants had a long time to rest or practice.
"So, how was it?" Aaron asked.
"Shadow Ruler is interesting. Let's see how far your group can go in this group tournament."
What do you think?
