Chapter 71: Destructive Finish: Return from the trip
Chapter 71: Destructive Finish: Return from the trip
*RUMBLE~*
The cavern below the Tepes Castle shook as thousands of bats flew out into the sky, forming into a black tornado. The screetching could be heard all over Romania and an evacuation was ordered from the supernatural side. The spectacle had gotten so much attention that the Carmilla faction had deployed quite a few of their own Vampires to watch from afar.
A bright light flew out from the now collapsed cavern, punching a hole through the wall of bats that had gathered above the skies of Romania. If one looked closely, they would notice the black haired King Tepes himself narrowly avoiding the white beam with a very serious-looking glare on his face.
A white Dragon flew out of the collapsed cave, light magic radiating off her scales. Yin stood atop her upper back, holding The Lightbreak blade in one hand while the other held onto Yang's back.
With the King unleashing his full magical might and taking to the skies, they needed to keep up. Earlier, it wasn't optimal to turn Dragon due to the confined fighting space and the fact that he was outspeeding them. Turning back then would only give him a bigger target. But now, all bets were off. While Yang may not be able to outspeed him or his magic, with Yin riding atop her, she could fend off most attacks that came at Yang.
*SCREEETCH!*
The horde of bats clustered together and flew at the sisters, fast. Yin's eyes hyperfocused on the swarm, seeing through it and urgently speaking in Yang's mind.
'Move! These things aren't normal bats.'
Yang didn't question it, tucking in her wings and diving down quickly as the swarm flew at them. Trees, stone and dirt was shredded and upheaved as the bats flew into them, turning to give chase. If that wasn't enough, massive tendrils of blood thrusted down at them, courtesy of King Tepes, who was still floating in the sky.
'Focus on dodging the blood. I'll handle the swarm.' Yin stated, moving to the middle of Yang's back and sheathing The Lightbreak blade into her Dust sheath.
*CLICK*
Yang did as she was told, her body moving in unpredictable ways so as to not get hit by the building-sized blood tendrils. Every time they hit the ground, massive amounts of dirt, trees and rock exploded upward, meaning she had to avoid them by a large margin.
Yin rotated the dust chamber, settling on Light Dust. She then held the blade to her side, her right foot forward as her free hand closed around the handle of the blade. She was now in a perfect position to quickdraw.
*SHIIIIING!!*
And that was what she did. Only, with the quick unsheathing of the blade, a bright burning wave flew out of it, incinerating thousands of bats directly in its path.
Inwardly a little disappointed she couldn't pull a Vergil or Miyabi, Yin watched as the swarm filled up the gap she had cut into it. Though now smaller.
"Enough.." King Tepes muttered, growing more and more agitated the longer they stayed alive. His body turned into a red comet, flying straight down at the sisters. Seeing as how they were seemingly focused on something else, he decided now was the perfect time to strike. He raised his bloody Rapier and commanded his blood magic to attack as he descended upon the oblivious sisters.
*CLAAAANG!!!*
Only to be surprised when Yang suddenly flew straight up, meeting his charge head on. His rapier's thrust met Yin's blade, and shortly after her flaming fist met his face, knocking him back several feet, though landing on Yang's lower back.
"How did you know..?" The King asked, wiping his bloody mouth while half of his now charred face healed. He looked at Yin, who was ready to unleash another quickdraw on him.
"I never stopped watching you." It was a simple admission, but it made him grin.
▂▂▃▃▄▄▄▄▅▅▅▅!!
A hot, flash of brilliant white overcame his vision as Yang flew toward the incoming blood tendrils and blew them away with what could only be described as 'Holy Fire' to those who saw it. The bloody attacks failed just as they were about to reach her, leaving only the incoming swarm and the Vampire King himself to deal with.
*CLANG!*
The King managed to stop Yin's incoming blade just in time. Its glowing edge mere inches from his face held back by his own rapier. He was put on the defensive, defending himself from Yin's aggressive and relentless strikes. Only this time-
"Augh!" The King gasped as Yin's body grew scales, claws and horns. She had sraightened out her fingers and thrust her claws into his stomach after their tenth blade clash.
King Tepes sneered and thrusted his rapier once more, while his other hand aimed at Yang, another blood spell ready to be unleashed.
Yin quickly moved in, moving herself to the side to avoid the stab and forcefully grabbing his arm before he could cast. They were then stuck in a stalemate with Yin trapping his Rapier arm while her other hand held his arm, preventing him from casting a spell to hurt Yang. Though this was exactly what he had planned..
The King smirked, seeing as she seemingly had nothing to stop him from sinking his teeth into her throat. He raised his head and opened his jaw wide, ready to pierce her flesh and drain her blood, unless she released him. And with how fiercely protective of her sister she was, that seemed unlikely.@@novelbin@@
One can imaginr his shock when her wings emerged. Her hand-like claws, on the ends of them sinking into his jaw and neck, holding him in place. If that weren't enough, they were coated in mana, to prevent him from escaping.
"You should never have let me get a hold of you." Yin stated, feeling him start to desperately kick and knee her to break free. But being so close to her, they lacked almost all of their previous power and speed.
"No..! NO-"
▂▂▃▃▄▄▄▄▅▅▅▅!!
A sea of azure flames escaped her mouth, bathing the Vampire King and lighting up the skies of Romania in a brilliant blue. He pried himself away so desperately and ferociously that his arms were ripped off from the force, along with the flesh on his face as he turned into mist and flew back into the gathering swarm of bats.
Yin panted heavily, nearly falling off Yang as she stumbled backward from exhaustion.
'Sis!? Are you okay? We get him?' Concerned, Yang asked.
'Not quite. Look..' Yang stopped, turning around and watching King Tepes' charred, incinerated body regenerate as the bats congregated and reformed his body. Though now, he looked about a hundred years old, with long white hair and a gaunt face. His body was also far skinnier and his skin was sagging.
'That regeneration is nuts. Why's he look so.. old now? And what were those bats?' Yang asked, maintaining their position as her wings flapped.
'He was using Valerie's Sacred Gear, most likely. Building a blood bank for himself, which he had turned into a swarm of those bats. They're magic constructs. Gives me the same feeling as the rest of his blood magic. That's why I didn't want you to be hit by them.' Yin explained, watching as the King floated there in the air, radiating a wrath so intense it felt like the air was cooling down.
"Ruined.. Everything is ruined. Thanks to you... You..! Adolescent DRAGONS!!" He screamed in rage as he raised his arms, summoning the remains of his magic in a desperate, suicidal attempt to completely annihilate them both.
"DIE!!" The King roared as several hundred blood tendrils emerged out of his back, pointed at them like spears. All of them chasing the two from all directions.
'Shit!! Do I fly away!? They're faster than the others!' Yang cried urgently.
Yin held onto her horns and replied, 'No! It's a trick. They'll catch us if you try to fly off. Go straight toward him! That gap in front of him is just big enough. Go, Yang!'
Yang didn't hesitate, releasing flames from the bottom of her wings to enhance her speed as they both charged straight at the Vampire King. His expression darkened as he saw what they were doing. The spread of his blood tendrils began to close, determined to impale the two. Yang felt the tips of the Tendrils closing in, but she was just a little faster.
Closer.
'They're gonna catch up! Yin!'
Closer.
'When I tell you to, transform back and unleash your strongest attack, Yang. Trust in me.' Yin answered, though she looked incredibly nervous too.
Closer.
'Got it. I'm ready..' Yang assured.
Clos-
'Now!'
*Flash~*
Yang undid her transformation, right as they had arrived in front of the King. Both of their palms aimed at him as Blue and Golden flames surged forth, utterly consuming the Vampire completely. His final expression one of resignation.
"If it's any consolation.. I will not forget you. You have taught me something valuable." Yin muttered to him before the inferno consumed him, killing him at last.
With that, their magic and stamina was completely spent and they fell out of the sky in streaks of dark blue and bright gold.
A few of the onlookers had made a move to catch them, but mysteriously, they had disappeared before they could hit the ground.

Yin had passed out right after muttering her last words to her adversary. The King had been the toughest enemy she had encountered thus far. On top of that, she came into the fight with arrogance. Something she only saw after Yang had engaged him and was in danger herself.
"Hn.." She started to wake up, her head nestled in something soft and fluffy. Like an absurdly soft pillow. She almost didn't want to wake up but her concern for Yang easily overpowered her comfort.
"Yang..? Yang!" She jolted up, but was firmly grasped by her shoulders from behind.
"Easy.. She's here too. She's right beside you. You must have taken more of a beating than I thought if you can't immediately feel her nearby." A soft, soothing and beautiful voice behind her said.
Looking behind, she saw her 'Mother' Hecate. The one responsible for her reincarnation, her system and even the Remnant they lived in. She was calmly reading a book, her splayed out fox tails cradling Yang, who was still sleeping.
Yin relaxed subconsciously.
"You'll be glad to know I sent those kids back to Kyoto and Shia is getting to know my sister at the moment. Ah yes.. and that False Mommy Ophis is busy running from Tearwyn. Hmph~ Claim MY kid will she.." Hecate complained with a little huff of annoyance.
"Ah..? She helped so I'd appreciate it if she wasn't punished or anything." Yin coughed awkwardly, trying to earn Ophis some mercy.
"Oh don't worry. She's just not used to being turned into a doll. But let's shelf that for now. Now, I want to talk about your little adventure there." Hecate stated, resting her head on her palm with a scrutinizing gaze.
"You went a little Murder Hobo-ey. Actually, that seems to be happening a lot recently hm?" Hecate inquired.
Yin looked down for a second and nodded. "Yes.. I've been getting.. carried away lately."
Hecate smirked and nodded in acknowledgement while one of her tails flicked Yin's nose lightly.
"It's good you acknowledged that. I'm not criticizing you for their deaths. The Night City people and those groups in DxD absolutely deserved to be wiped out. But you must see by now that there's more than one way to go about these things? Yang looks up to you too. She learns from you. Do you want that sort of recklessness learned by her?" Immediately, Yin face paled and she shook her head vehemently.
"No! I just.. I let my impulses get the better of me.."
"Of course you did. You're still an adolescent Dragon. Arrogance and pride is in your nature. I'm just glad you learned this lesson now. You were acting to protect her, I get it. But you learned she is strong too, eh? You learned to temper that pride and arrogance. You learned to trust in Yang's strength. And you learned to approach things differently. I'd call that a successful trip." Hecate smiled, pulling Yin in with one of her tails and hugging her head.
"Y-Yeah.. I guess." Yin exhaled, accepting the comfortable hug.
"Now~ I'm glad you're seriously reflecting but let's get onto the important part. The most important part of the trip.." Hecate stated seriously, waving her hand as multiple screens appeared.
*Chu*
The night Yang had kissed Yin on the lips. Some screens played it on repeat, some ultra slow and some even had a romantic jingle in the background. Yin's face blanked for a few moments before a nearly crimson blush made its way up her neck and onto her face.
"Whaaaaaat!?! Turn it off!" Yin demanded, trying to get up but failing to, due to her being restricted by Hecate's tail.
"This shit is so peak.. I cried for an hour. Finally! The SHIP IS REAL!" Hecate shed a few tears as Yin tried to throw fireballs at the screen.
"Mama supports you two! Gods~ You should have seen my texts with the rest of the Pantheon when it happened! Here, actually I'll show you!" Hecate ignored her daughter's flustered attempts to shut off the screens and summoned another large screen.
[ARTORIAAAAA!!! LOOK! MY BABY'S FIRST KISS!! 🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥]
Hecate continued, pulling up more of her texts while Yin did her best to free herself. Unaware of Yang, still pretending to still be asleep with a completely red face.
[AN: Heh. So! This wraps up DxD. There'll be a return.. later. For now it's back to criminal intrigue and the shadowy figures running Remnant. Look forward to it!
Also decided to do Dragon Heart and ZZZ with whatever the Hell I feel like writing taking up 3rd place.
