Chapter 186: Chapter 185: Empathy (1st Update)

After healing Sheral, Mo Shigui’s Fureya quietly sat down by the tree hollow.

The players of the Dancing Nuclear Guild didn’t dare disturb their chairman’s wife, not even daring to strike a conversation.

“Speaking of which, why did the chairman’s wife suddenly run out of the tree hollow? Why can’t my wife do that?”

“Eh, why do I feel like the chairman’s Fureya looks prettier than my Fureya?”

“What are you talking about, your horse? Don’t they all look the same?” Tonight your mother must die, warning the guild members not to harbor any crooked thoughts.

“After Fureya’s favorability increases, she customizes her own clothes and hairstyle. Has the chairman dressed up his own Fureya too beautifully? But the chairman’s Fureya has the default hairstyle,” Lazy, being a female player, had been changing her own Fureya’s outfit daily since the dress-up system was activated.

Jiang Qiao quietly listened to the discussions of the Dancing Nuclear Guild players on the side. Mo Shigui’s Fureya was someone Jiang Qiao had temporarily summoned to help out.

Sheral, a chosen of some god, had always been monitored by Jiang Qiao, who could faintly sense their positions start from the time all the Crystal Hunters arrived in the Spiritual Vein Forest area of Biland Island.

The specific monitoring task, however, was left to the ever-hungry but not lazy Sea Blue Goddess.

Sheral acted like a betrayer among the Crystal Hunters, but she did not stand on the side of the Magic Thieves.

This shepherdess-looking chosen, Sheral, sought refuge in the guilds of Holy Spirits, not just for the humble reason of scrounging for food; she knew only by becoming the companion of the Holy Spirits could other chosen not easily attack her on this island.

The two sisters who were Dragon Speakers had already proven the benefits of being under the protection of Holy Spirits.

Whether the Dancing Nuclear Guild was willing to shelter Sheral, Jiang Qiao wasn’t sure, but the other members of the guild definitely wouldn’t let Sheral leave so easily.

Because Sheral had hurt their chairman’s Fureya, although indirectly, the now unconscious Sheral was thrown onto a bed and strictly guarded by the people of Dancing Nuclear.

Mo Shigui’s Fureya then sat alone by the tree hollow, gazing at the fingertips of her left hand.

Jiang Qiao had already healed her left hand’s fingertips, but this was the first time the Fureyas truly experienced ‘pain’, as previously the damage Fureya suffered was just graphic effects added by Jiang Qiao.

“Serial number 104 Fureya is the fastest in thinking evolution among all the Fureyas, just slightly less than your prototype,” said Sea Blue, floating beside Jiang Qiao in her ghostly form, her gaze fixed on Mo Shigui’s Fureya. As the ‘mother’ of these Fureyas, Sea Blue could distinctly sense subtle changes in her created children.

“This time, Fureya 104 touched the divine essence of gods from another world. Though it’s just fragments, it did cause some minor impacts. I’ve been trying very hard to suppress this impact, but how should I put it…” Sea Blue floated beside the now sleeping Sheral, saying, “She might develop a certain empathetic connection with this unknown chosen.”

“What does empathy mean? Don’t tell me Mo Shigui’s Fureya will become a big eater like you?” Jiang Qiao communicated with Sea Blue with her thoughts.

The profile Jiang Qiao could retrieve about Sheral was not extensive; she knew nothing about the god behind her powers, only able to retrieve her level and that her food consumption was a thousand times that of a normal human.

And the god behind her obviously wanted to hide many things, even needing to hide them if it meant killing Sheral.

Jiang Qiao couldn’t sever the link between Sheral and her god, only able to temporarily suppress it… The god behind her also compromised with Jiang Qiao, sparing Sheral’s life.

But the impact Mo Shigui’s Fureya received in this rescue mission seemed more complex than just a scald on her fingertip.

“Well, I asked your search engine, and the definition is somewhat like the connection that exists between twins. It’s like when Sheral feels very sad about something, her Fureya can also feel the emotions of sadness, but this connection is faint, sometimes there, sometimes not. Hmm… There’s a term players use, what was it, metaphysical! Right! A very metaphysical connection,” explained Sea Blue, proudly flaunting her mastery of modern internet terms in front of Jiang Qiao.

“But what does big eater mean? I don’t eat much at all, okay? As a goddess, I can control my appetite, eating when I want to, and not losing my composure over food when I don’t want to!”

“Sea Blue, grab some takeout, thanks.”

“Okay.”

Jiang Qiao watched as Sea Blue vanished beside her. The discussion among the people of the Dancing Nuclear Guild suddenly stopped, like a tape machine whose stop button had been pressed, because Mo Shigui had logged in.

“Chair… Chairman, look, your Fureya is just fine,” immediately pointed out the site plush rabbit standing near the Fureya who was sitting by the tree hollow.

Upon seeing Mo Shigui come online, the members of the Dancing Nuclear Guild no longer addressed Fureya as the chairman’s wife.

Mo Shigui appeared very composed, acting as if nothing had happened; however, it was the first time Mo Shigui saw Fureya appear on a map with other players, which Mo Shigui found rather novel.

“Holy Spirit, you have arrived.”

Upon seeing Mo Shigui appear, Mo Shigui’s Fureya shifted her gaze from her left hand, quickly stood up, and greeted her devoted Holy Spirit as usual.

This scene caused the previously silent members of the Dancing Nuclear Guild to burst into excitement once again.

Jiang Qiao looked on, feeling somewhat like… during high school or college days when confessing to a girl he liked, surrounded by a bunch of friends yelling chaotically.

Mo Shigui sighed softly, knowing he couldn’t stop his guild members from causing an uproar, so he focused on the status of his Fureya.

“Is your left hand all right?”

Mo Shigui had been awakened by a flurry of urgent calls and text messages, but what really got him rolling out of the hotel bed was the live recording video sent by Zhao Mingwei.

The video perfectly captured the scene where Fureya’s left fingertip was burned to a crisp, and in that instant, Mo Shigui was wide awake.

But now, Fureya’s left fingertip was still as porcelain-white as ever, showing no signs of any damage.

Mo Shigui opened Fureya’s status bar… his Fureya’s health points were still at maximum, and so was her health value. Her hunger limit had increased slightly but that wasn’t the focus.

“The gods have healed my wounds, and the Holy Spirit need not worry about me.” As Fureya spoke, she gently held her left fingertip with her right hand, a small gesture to tell Mo Shigui not to worry too much about her injury.

Surrounded by many guild members, Mo Shigui couldn’t exactly command Fureya to stretch out her hand.

All he could do now was to check his Fureya’s status, while the guild chat was completely exploding with discussions about the incident, with many speculating that this might also be a mission that affects the guild base.

The concept of a guild base-level hidden mission was proposed by Rain Song in the group, which meant that some hidden quests could potentially affect the construction of the guild and its base.

The Dragon Speaker sisters’ character-specific quest related to their Cola Frenzy indeed belonged to this category, and now that Cola Frenzy was already planning to build a dragon ranch, could the similarly mysterious Sheral also possibly… trigger a quest that changes the direction of the Dancing Nuclear Guild’s base construction?

Mo Shigui’s Fureya’s overall attributes hadn’t changed, but several new entries in the status bar and temporary blessings caught Mo Shigui’s attention.

‘Guardian Spirit·Fureya

Gender: Female.

Health Points: 1750/1750

Health Level: 100/100

Hunger Level: 100/150

Thirst Level: 100/100

Fatigue Level: 95/100

Attire: Divine Prayer

Condition: Satisfied, Healthy, Sympathy·Crystal Hunter Sheral

Mood: Joyful, Concerned.

Permanent Blessings: Fureya’s encouragement·Small, Fureya’s blessing·Small, Holy Light Abundant…

Temporary Blessings: Divine Protection (duration 120 hours).”

Permanent blessings are a key point in playing with Fureya where players could get the most benefits—these permanent blessings are, as the name suggests, various BUFFs provided by Fureya to the players.

These BUFFs are permanently effective in any area of the Biland Island map; Fureya’s encouragement is a BUFF that increases experience gain, and in its small state, it could increase experience gain by five percent.

Many posts on how to obtain these permanent blessings for Fureya have been published on forums, with encouragement and blessing being the most common entries; just by feeding, watering, and ensuring Fureya gets good sleep, you can obtain them, and methods to increase them are being researched on the forums.

But Mo Shigui knew that the president of the Cola Frenzy, who owned Fureya, had already increased the two buffs ‘Fureya’s encouragement’ and ‘Fureya’s blessing’ to medium, increasing experience gain by ten percent and life maximum by five percent, respectively.

Indeed, that was the Fureya of a wealthy family.

Mo Shigui had no time to marvel at this, he focused on the two new entries in Fureya’s status, ‘Sympathy·Crystal Hunter Sheral’ and the temporary blessing ‘Divine Protection.’

Each entry had a detailed description, and these two were no exception. When Mo Shigui’s fingertip touched one of the entries… a string of text appeared.

‘Sympathy·Crystal Hunter Sheral: Your Fureya can now faintly sense emotions from Sheral, but this perception is very weak, almost impossible to affect your Fureya.’

‘Divine Protection: In a critical moment, the brave Fureya chose to step forward to save a stranger, and God will follow her to protect her life, ensuring her health points will not drop below 1750 during the active period.’

The second was quite a nice positive BUFF, but what was the deal with the first condition?

“Who is Sheral?” Mo Shigui asked the surrounding crowd of onlookers, and Velveteen Rabbit silently threw the tightly bound Sheral in front of Mo Shigui.

If Sheral hadn’t passed out, she might likely be gazing at Mo Shigui with sparkling big eyes.
