Chapter 190: 189 We are comrades-in-arms! (1st Update)

The Divine Chosen of the Flowing Water God thought he was the most outstanding and charming orator among his peers… Now, it appeared that his excellent eloquence and charm had paid off.

“We will deliver the ransom you require immediately,” the Divine Chosen of the Flowing Water God said, extending his hand eagerly to shake with Mo Shigui.

It took Mo Shigui about ten minutes to negotiate Sheela’s ransom with this NPC, and finally, the Divine Chosen of the Flowing Water God offered the ‘astronomical’ sum of thirty thousand blin to ransom Sheela back.

As Mo Shigui shook hands with the Divine Chosen of the Flowing Water God, the smile on the Divine Chosen’s face, originally brought about by the successful negotiation, stiffened.

Because Mo Shigui’s hand, clad in a black vambrace, was gripping the Divine Chosen of the Flowing Water God’s hand tightly, making it impossible for him to withdraw it for the moment.

“Holy Spirit, do you have any other demands?” the Divine Chosen of the Flowing Water God asked with a smile, understanding from the series of conversations that Mo Shigui was the president of the Dancing Nuclear Guild, and the fuzzy bunny was just a proxy president.

As the representative of a deity born in a somewhat feudal society, the Divine Chosen of the Flowing Water God instinctively thought that if he could foster a good relationship with Mo Shigui, he would have plenty of time to talk heart-to-heart with the fuzzy bunny.

“From the conversation I just had with you… I realized something,” Mo Shigui said, staring at the dialogue box of the Flowing Water God; the options in the dialogue box had all… turned into the words Mo Shigui wanted to say.

During this entire ten-minute conversation, the dialogue box of the Divine Chosen had consistently displayed a prompt: ‘The other party is underestimating you.’

“What would that be?” the Divine Chosen of the Flowing Water God asked.

“I am here speaking with you not because of your friendliness, but because you believe that merely threatening one guild of the Holy Spirits would not affect the attitude of all the Holy Spirits towards you significantly,” Mo Shigui recited, choosing the intimidating option, unsure how the system had auto-generated such harsh words, but… saying them out loud felt rather impactful.

“What do you mean by that?” The smile on the Divine Chosen’s face completely froze.

“If it were any other guild, they might have already handed over your companion,” Mo Shigui said, increasing the pressure on the Divine Chosen of the Flowing Water God’s arm “but what you’re facing is the Dancing Nuclear, a guild revered by all the Holy Spirits…”

What kind of cringeworthy line was that? Mo Shigui snapped back to reality as soon as he spoke it, realizing it was part of the threatening option.

The option also included an attribute of the Dancing Nuclear Guild—(Dancing Nuclear, overall guild ranking: 3, number of members: 521, average level: 40.)

This must be an intimidating option that only the top-ranked guilds can execute.

“Are you suggesting we should revere you as well?” the good-tempered Divine Chosen of the Flowing Water God became very unhappy with Mo Shigui’s show of dominance.

“What I mean is, you should understand… our influence among the Holy Spirits,” Mo Shigui said, this time in a tone that was more like a normal conversation, but this statement carried a sense of urgency far greater than the previous threats.

“Old Song, you bastard! Why have all the Crystal Hunters gathered at the entrance of your guild’s base?”

“President Song, where is Fureya? Let me see her! Quick!”

The time of arrival of the various guilds was surprisingly… uniform; they had all ridden over from the Snow Plain map, and so to the eyes of those six Divine Chosen… they saw a horde of Holy Spirits riding all sorts of warhorses, dragons, lizards, steam motorcycles, and so on, racing to the doorstep of the Dancing Nuclear Guild’s base.

In an instant, three hundred twenty-one Holy Spirits completely surrounded the six Divine Chosen.

“I told you we should have just sneaked into the base and taken her away,” the Shadow Divine Chosen quietly drew his weapon.

“Shouldn’t the guilds of the Holy Spirits be competing with each other?” the Divine Chosen of the War God, Finn, was somewhat vexed by the scene; this wasn’t the first time he had been glared at fiercely by a crowd of Holy Spirits.

Finn was not afraid to fight these Holy Spirits, but the order from his deity was clear: he must not become hostile with all the Holy Spirits. If he were to start a fight with the three hundred or so Holy Spirits on the scene, it would essentially be tantamount to angering all the Holy Spirits on the island and turning himself from a yellow-named NPC into a red-named monster that could be farmed.

“It’s a competitive relationship, but when interests align, they stand together.”

“Interests? What benefit is there for the other Holy Spirits to save Sheela? It seems we have vastly underestimated that man’s prestige among the Holy Spirits.”

Finn glanced at Zhao Mingwei, who had been standing behind Mo Shigui silently, considering the possibility that Zhao Mingwei could very well be the mastermind behind all this.

“Stop discussing, what should we do? Leave, or… storm in.” poison-coated silver needles had already filled the Shadow Divine Chosen’s fingertips.

Winning a war in this world by sheer numbers is extremely difficult, as the Divine Chosen possess power far beyond that of ordinary people. They were unsure if they could kill all the Saint Spirits at once, but escaping posed no issue whatsoever.

“Wait a minute!”

The previous Divine Chosen who stood two meters tall was the chosen of the God of Justice, but what caught everyone’s attention about this Divine Chosen of the Daylight God was his shiny bald head.

“The guild leaders of the Holy Spirit Guilds we visited before have dismounted.” The Divine Chosen of the Daylight God noticed that after the Saint Spirits arrived at the edge of the forest, they showed no intent to attack. Instead, all the guild leaders left their mounts and walked towards them.

“Don’t tell me it’s another round of pointless negotiations.” The Shadow Divine Chosen grew impatient as Bubbles, the guild leader of the Cola Fanatic Guild, was the first to approach the six Divine Chosen.

After scanning the six Divine Chosen, Bubbles’ face lit up with surprise when he spotted Finn, the War God’s Divine Chosen, in the crowd.

“Oh my goodness, thank goodness our rapport didn’t fall to dislike. I was busy accepting quests from the Dragon Speaker sisters and didn’t notice you’d come to my base! Let me see…” Bubbles glanced at the options that popped up after he approached, there were three in total, and he chose the third green option.

So, under Finns puzzled gaze, Bubbles enthusiastically slapped him on the shoulder…

“Comrade in arms striving to purify Biland Island, join us in hunting the Snow Plain Master!”

“??”

Now it was Finn’s turn to be confused. He remembered being kicked out of the Cola Fanatic Guild last time, with the Saint Spirits there telling him to get lost, and now suddenly he’s considered a close comrade in arms?

And just as puzzled were… the other Divine Chosen around him, as well as the guild leaders from every major guild approached them, almost all at the same time, extending invitations to ‘hunt the Snow Plain Master together.’

Mo Shigui, who was also confused on the players’ side, glanced at Zhao Mingwei next to him, wondering what Zhao Mingwei had said in the chat group.

Zhao Mingwei didn’t say anything but sent a link to a forum post to Mo Shigui.

“The guild leader’s wife of the Dancing Nuclear Guild… oops, his Fureya can now move outside the tree hole! Guide on how to trigger Fureya’s storyline to leave the tree hole. Poster: Starry Scholar Squad.”

“This is my first time writing a strategy post, and it’s also a pseudo-strategy, as it’s all based on my own conjecture. An anonymous bro shared this huge news with me. As the chief guild leader of Fureya’s fan club, I think it’s crucial to let our wife get some fresh air outside her less than ten square meters room. Below is a discussion on how to trigger the storyline of Fureya leaving the tree hole, based on the information that bro sent.”

After reading the opening of the post, Mo Shigui looked back at all the members of his guild, realizing that the ‘anonymous bro’ might very well be among them.

But Mo Shigui sighed lightly and abandoned the thought, continuing to read Starry’s post.

“As everyone knows, Dancing Nuclear is one of the strongest Saint Spirit Guilds, mastering instances, pioneering, and speedrunning instances, and they have recorded countless ‘Best of the Party’ titles from the official account. Alright, without further ado, I’ll get straight to the point. The Spiritual Vein Forest area was conquered by the Dancing Nuclear Guild, and joining the conquest of an area achievement is the first element to trigger Fureya’s hidden storyline to leave the tree hole.

“The second factor is the newly introduced character, the Crystal Hunter. I think all the major guilds must have been visited by the Crystal Hunter, and even the bases built by solo players have been visited by many Crystal Hunters.”

Those Crystal Hunters were really professional, so much so that they conducted a census of all Saint Spirits upon arriving on the island; even if it wasn’t the base of one of the eight major guilds, they sent ordinary Crystal Hunters to pass regards.

“The second condition is to boost the Crystal Hunter’s rapport, which again is just my hypothesis. According to the info sent by the bro, Fureya, the guild leader of Dancing Nuclear, wanted to save the Crystal Hunters that’s why she left the tree hole. The official website hasn’t released any information about Fureya walking out of the tree hole yet, so everyone should try and see on their own! After all, there’s already a Fureya who has left the tree hole!”

“What a hassle,” Mo Shigui muttered to himself after finishing Starry’s post. He was 100 percent certain it was all nonsense because when his Fureya left the tree hole, he was not even online, it had nothing to do with any secret quest.

But the replies in the forum seemed to believe that Starry’s conjecture was correct.

“Then what about solo players without a guild? Does that mean their wife will have to stay in a small room forever?” Reply by: Dare you.

“This post is just speculation; solo players should have other methods to trigger Fureya to leave the tree hole, right? Isn’t exploring the most interesting part of the game?” Replier: Darling’s Big Bad Wolf.

“Oh my mom! Our guild also had a Crystal Hunter who visited us, but because they were not nice, we threw them out. I hope the Crystal Hunter’s rapport didn’t turn negative.” Replier: Can.

Mo Shigui glanced at the comments below, then at the group of major guild leaders who were pulling Crystal Hunters along to hunt the Snow Plain Master.

Some of them had seen this strategy post, and Mo Shigui didn’t know if they were really doing it for their own Fureya, but taking a level 50 lord-level NPC to the Snow Plain map to help tank some damage seemed… like a decent choice?

The rest was up to whether these Crystal Hunters would indeed treat the Saint Spirits… as comrades in the same battle line.
