Chapter 70: Chapter 69 The Breached Wall
Awesome, awesome!
Jiang Qiao turned to look at the Lion Heart knight who was already in a state of rage, and a swing of his long spear exuded the momentum of thunder and majesty, stirring up the Cola Fanatic Guild into utter chaos.
Of course, what Jiang Qiao admired here wasn’t the prowess of the Lion Heart knight, but the incredible ability of the Cola Fanatic Guild to draw aggro.
Each of the five knights under Queen Mei had some little-known settings, and Jiang Qiao had also made these settings public on the official website, such as the fact that the Wasp knight and the Wolf knight were in a relationship, and the Hawkeye Knight liked gardening—trivial information like that.
The little setting for the Lion Heart knight was… that he was hopelessly obsessed with Queen Mei, to the extent of what? If anyone dared to speak ill of Queen Mei in front of him, he would pull that person out and execute them brutally.
Most players might have thought these little settings were just the official website’s way of fleshing out the BOSS’s character.
But what Jiang Qiao said was true, not a word of it was false, and the Cola Fanatic Guild had latched onto this particular setting, spouting all kinds of provocative nonsense about Queen Mei while fighting with the Lion Heart knight.
Jiang Qiao had thought that even in his fury, the Lion Heart knight would maintain some semblance of reason and would come over to chase them in order to protect the safety of the city walls.
But as it turned out, a person in a state of anger had no sense of reason, and the Lion Heart knight had not just entered the second phase but had directly entered the third phase of rage.
“Be careful.” @@novelbin@@
As Jiang Qiao focused on the distant battlefield between the Lion Heart knight and the Cola Fanatic Guild, the voice of Mo Shigui’s warning echoed in the guild’s voice chat.
This time, in the battle of the divine, Jiang Qiao was following the Dancing Nuclear Guild to… stir things up in this plane.
The Wolf knight was the only knight Jiang Qiao hadn’t been able to scout because he was instantly killed by a special power the moment he got close.
Having no other choice, Jiang Qiao had to settle for a couple of murals about the Wolf knight that he found inside the castle and posted them on the official website.
So Jiang Qiao joined the strategy team of the Dancing Nuclear Guild along with Zhao Mingwei and Lin Xi.
The target of the Dancing Nuclear Guild was the dungeon beneath the royal city, but the journey near the city walls was anything but smooth.
Less than a second after Mo Shigui’s reminder sounded in the guild’s voice chat, Jiang Qiao felt something whistling towards them.
The thing that came whistling was familiar to Jiang Qiao: arrows fired by the Hawkeye knight… Jiang Qiao had been smashed by those several times before.
This time, the Hawkeye knight wasn’t targeting Jiang Qiao, but a few cloth-armor Mages in the Dancing Nuclear Guild.
The arrow from the Hawkeye knight pierced straight through one of the Mages. The small body of the Mage couldn’t withstand the immense force of the arrow, and as it hit the ground like a meteor, the resulting shockwave caused several nearby players to lose their balance.
“Is there a missile launcher on the walls?”
“That’s a crossbow!”
“But the impact is like a missile! And they’ve got rapid fire and auto-targeting on the other side!”
“Can someone get me down from here!”
The poor Mage, thanks to the divine protection of the Holy, wasn’t killed in one hit, but he hung there, impaled on the two-meter-long giant arrow, feet dangling in the air.
“Respawn yourself, everyone else keep formation!”
Mo Shigui knew that stopping now would only result in greater losses, so he abandoned the Mage who was pinned in place by the arrow and unable to move, instructing the strategy team to continue advancing towards the city walls.
“White Snake, is this distance within your Acid Rain casting range?” Mo Shigui immediately asked a player specialized in magic studies in the guild.
“Just about, President. Should I call the others to cast it together?” A player bearing the ID ‘Delicious White Snake’ flew over on a broomstick beside Mo Shigui and said.
“Cast it!” Mo Shigui ordered.
The scholar of magic studies is a common advanced class of Mage, specializing in various alchemical machines and spells, essentially considered a profession similar to an Alchemist.
The Dancing Nuclear Guild’s assault team this time included five Magic scholars, which Mo Shigui had specifically arranged…
Magic scholars are one of the few classes capable of flight in combat, as they can ride brooms.
Under Mo Shigui’s watch, the guild’s five Magic scholars floated up into the air and hurled several bottles containing thunder and lightning, as well as bottles filled with a ghostly green liquid, towards the city walls.
In an instant, a large expanse of dark clouds formed in the sky, and the clouds began to pour down torrential rain, which was all acid rain capable of corroding armor and even flesh.
Mo Shigui didn’t expect the acid rain to corrode the enemies’ armor, but if it could weaken the sturdiness of the city walls, that would be enough.
“Ion Spark, Xiaoyuma, use your awakened ability when you’ve taken aim!”
Mo Shigui, shielding himself with his shield from a ‘missile’ from a Hawkeye Knight, directly ordered the two gunner players in his team who had mastered their awakened abilities.
The Shield Warrior’s awakened ability needed to be attained through the divine trials in the God War instance, but the series of awakenings for the Sharpshooter profession, along with a small portion of other classes, were associated with the Tower of Trial.
The players known as Ion Spark and Xiaoyuma respectively belonged to the Gun Master and Mechanic professions.
“Here it comes!” Ion Spark had been waiting for this day for a long time.
Though the Holy ones’ awakened abilities were powerful, their cooldowns were so long they felt almost inhuman. Ion Spark’s awakened ability required an extensive amount of magic stones just to unleash once, not to mention a cooldown time of three whole hours.
But the effects were remarkable…
Ion Spark put on his tactical goggles, aimed at the distant city walls eroded by the acid rain, and after the rain dissipated, he lightly snapped his fingers, completing the skill’s charging time, and released the Gun Master’s awakened ability.
The next second, a light shone in the sky, and a beam of light, originating from who knows where, slammed down onto the city walls. Next to this giant beam of laser light, seven smaller beams rotated around it.
In Ion Spark’s view, numbers like -291, -123, -491 continuously popped up on the city wall, which collapsed under the erosion of the Satellite Beam.
“Pretty exhilarating,” Ion Spark thought to himself as he listened to the constant sound of damage effects in his ears. It might’ve been the first time a Holy awakened ability was used on the battlefield.
As most players had not yet completed their awakening tasks, Ion Spark, who was carefully nurtured by the Dancing Nuclear Guild as a Gun Master, had just completed a series of complicated awakening tasks yesterday to obtain this ability.
“Xiaoyuma, your turn!”
As Mo Shigui called out, several more arrow-like missiles landed beside him.
“I’ve been ready to cast! Gai Bojia, hit it!”
A Mechanic player named Xiaoyuma had four flying drones appear behind him, which formed a gigantic square-shaped electrical arc portal!
From within the portal emerged an enormous mechanical arm capable of punching Godzilla to the ground; the arm stretched out from the portal and headed straight for the city wall, which was on the verge of collapse, with a swift punch.
After knocking away several zombie soldiers along the way, that portion of the city wall crumbled into bricks scattered by the impact of the mechanical arm.
At that moment, Xiaoyuma received a reward notification, ‘City Wall Destruction (75%) Reward 3000 points of divine grace for the God War.’
The Mechanic’s awakened ability… Gai Bojia’s Punch, was fundamentally about summoning the fist of a legendary robot from another dimension to attack.
However, Jiang Qiao had cut corners a bit on this ability—the legendary robot had only one fist, and none of the rest of its body existed.
“Everyone, into the city! Holy ones, remember to set up resurrection points!”
Mo Shigui glanced at the vicinity of the city walls, where elites from other guilds had similarly made their way to the base of the walls; seeing the opening created by the Dancing Nuclear Guild, they too came over to join in on the action.
Thus, the battlefield was instantly divided into two parts, one being the frontlines filled with the army of zombie soldiers, and the other being the urban combat that ensued after the elite players breached the interior of the city.
As for the zombie civilians inside the city, just as Jiang Qiao had predicted, they all entered a frenzied state, turning the inner city area into something resembling the set of a Resident Evil film.
What do you think?
