Chapter 34 - 34 37 Heavenly Blood Light_1
Chapter 34: Chapter 37: Heavenly Blood Light!_1 Chapter 34: Chapter 37: Heavenly Blood Light!_1 The gray silhouette moved at an extreme speed, trailing jet-like flames behind it.
The enemy’s nano-armor now hung on him like tattered scraps of cloth, his eye goggles shattered, with his neck in an unnaturally twisted posture.
A regular person would surely be dead from such severe injuries.
It was unclear what kind of life-draining method the target, “Engineer”, had used to escape from Li Xingyue and her companions.
Lin Xun cruelly licked his lips and yanked hard on the reins in his hand, causing the beast-like blood horse to rear up on its hind legs.
“Hiss.”
From the gaps in the metal plate armor, a strange crimson aura emerged.
The myriad of crimson auras emanating from the body wrapped themselves around the metal knight.
At this moment, the war horse pounded down, causing gravel and dirt to fly around.
The Law Knight surged forward with an unstoppable momentum, his sword pointing directly at the frantically escaping enemy.
Bloody Charge!
The sound of the heavy beast’s hooves hitting the field echoed throughout the silent night sky, trailing a long bloody afterimage as the steel war machine surged forward…
Through the opening in his metal helmet, the enemy’s magnified look of terror was up close and personal.
“Boom!”
The enemy flew backward like a ragdoll hit by a heavy truck.
He was launched backwards at several times the speed of his charge, slamming into the ground and creating a human-shaped crater, kicking up billows of dust.
It was a while before Li Xingyue arrived. Her shell was a female assassin wielding a chain-linked sickle, donning a demon-faced mask, and wearing close-fitting leather armor filled with inscriptions, exuding danger amidst her seductiveness.
“I told you to let him escape, why are you still … uh, why is the Engineer in a pit?”
“Did you do this?!”
Even with her face concealed by the demon mask, from her voice, Lin Xun could detect her shock.
Lu Caiyi arrived shortly after, the lady in white transformed into a fierce female warrior with a pair of lion-headed metal gauntlets, her leathers barely containing her leonine figure.
“Team Leader Li, isn’t Lin Xun a rookie? Were you fooling me?”
Lu Caiyi said, staring incredulously at the human-shaped lump of flesh in the pit.
Normally, considering her shy nature, she would have never been so direct. Perhaps this was a side effect of wearing the shell…
“Forget about that for now – the Engineer has a talent for pushing beyond his limits. It’s very possible that he’s not dead!”
Li Xingyue said in a serious tone.
The two women joined Lin Xun in encircling their target.
Li Xingyue had already paid once for underestimating the Engineer’s will to live. She was not about to make the same mistake twice.
“Attack!”
As they prepared to strike, the fallen engineer suddenly opened his eyes. Despite his semi-destroyed state and taking a full Bloody Charge, he was still alive!
The engineer’s armor thrusters buzzed to life, releasing a burst of flame. His body shot upwards like a rocket, about to escape!
“Xiaoxi!” Li Xingyue called out.
“Bang!”
Responding to Li Xingyue was a muffled gunshot.
The figure soaring through the sky froze for a moment… then continued flying.
“Looks like Xiaoxi, you’re really the cheerleader here,” Lin Xun said as he quickly manifested his crossbow, squeezing off a bolt towards the soaring figure.
But the target was moving too fast and the bolt could not hit the mark.
“We cannot let him get away!”
Seeing the enemy about to flee, Lin Xun didn’t have time to think. He loosened the reins and urged his horse in pursuit.
Li Xingyue hurriedly followed, yet found the distance to Lin Xun growing. The blood-coloured war horse under him ran as if it were fueled by wind, its speed increasing with each bound.
The enemy too flew faster and faster, causing Lin Xun’s horse to struggle to keep up.
“Looks like we can’t catch up.”
Li Xingyue furrowed her eyebrows, frustrated by the impending failure of their mission.
The enforcer, Lu Caiyi, who they had borrowed from the Armed Team, may look feeble, but her combat prowess is unbelievable, a testament to her soul’s remarkable talent!
Li Xingyue couldn’t comprehend how such an endless strength could reside within her delicate frame. No wonder Lu Caiyi was the Armed Team’s cherished jewel.
In the fight that took place at the courtyard earlier, they had not anticipated the engineer to possess a talent that gambled with his life. Instead of having his head smashed by Lu Caiyi’s fist, he merely suffered a broken neck.
After employing his talent, the formidable vitality the engineer gained made him immensely tenacious, enabling him to move freely even with his neck nearly snapped in two.
This is why they had lowered their guard, allowing the target to escape.
Li Xingyue had brought Lin Xun here, intending to acquaint the newcomer with the organization’s task procedures. After the target was dead, Lin Xun was supposed to showcase the power of his talent.
She never intended for Lin Xun to fight in the mission.
Unexpectedly, not only did this guy possess a high-level Shell, but he had also obtained a summoning tool for a mount.
Although they hadn’t been successful in the end, Lin Xun’s rapid progress astonished her. She felt as though she had struck gold with him!
She saw Lin Xun’s silhouette halt on his running horse, then he forcefully pulled the reins. The battle horse whinnied and raised its front hooves before coming to a stop.
“Has he given up the pursuit? It makes sense though; there’s no way we can catch up… The main reason for this failed mission rests on me, if only I had been more careful…”
Li Xingyue found herself thinking thus.
Suddenly, her eyes enlarge as she saw something unimaginable.
The dark silver armor of the knight in the front gradually faded away, replaced by a golden, majestic robe!
The helmet disappeared, replaced by a gorgeous crown encrusted with dazzling gems.
The knight’s tall and intimidating figure began to shrink, leaving behind a lean Shell on the horse’s back.
This Shell, without a tall height or robust build, emanated a staggering pressure that far surpassed a Law Knight’s by tenfold!
Merely eyeing the silhouette of the Shell sent shivers down her spine – like seeing a bloodred, sinking sun. Its decadent, twisted power made one want to gouge out their eyes and scream in madness.
An odd scepter appeared in the Shell’s hand. The scepter was race tall, even taller than the Shell, glowing with a golden brilliance. A lifelike dragon coiled around the top of the scepter, and its horn was the shimmering spearhead!
And then, the lean figure in the golden robe raised the scepter high, and a deep incantation rang out…
“Boom!!!”
A column of bright red light shot towards the fleeing enemy in the night sky!
Li Xingyue could clearly see a bizarre red aura swirling around the pillar of light.
The distant enemy fell from the sky like a shot bird…
The lean figure in the front pulled the reins, and the war horse galloped towards where the enemy had fallen.
“Go.”
Lin Xun’s gruff voice sounded through the earpiece.
As if waking from a dream, Li Xingyue grabbed the stunned Lu Caiyi, and they both raced after the horse.
“Leader Li, are you still going to lie to me… that he’s a rookie?”
Amidst the relentless galloping, an incredulous voice rang out amongst the roaring wind.
Li Xingyue paused and without any embarrassment responded, “Ahem…that’s our Intelligence Team’s secret weapon, I don’t usually tell others about it.”
As Lu Caiyi was running, she contemplated: If I were to poach him over to the Armed Team, Leader Wang’s laughter could probably wake him from his sleep, and the whole Armed Team would be buzzing with excitement…
What do you think?
