Chapter 55 - 55 58 The Ancient Theatre of Saint Lance_1

Chapter 55: Chapter 58: The Ancient Theatre of Saint Lance_1 Chapter 55: Chapter 58: The Ancient Theatre of Saint Lance_1 Lin Xun pondered, having pledged allegiance to ‘Golden Sun’, he wasn’t sure if he could recover from fatigue after using the herbs.

There’s no need to elaborate on the last item, it’s a special prop, one that could increase luck.

Lin Xun would buy it regardless of the spiritual cost.

With items like the Flame Pot and arrows and ammunition, he had a mage’s shell and didn’t lack long-range attack means, hence he naturally didn’t need to waste money.

After some thought, Lin Xun decided to buy the Lucky Coins and a Red Orchid.

If the Red Orchid could recover fatigue, he would buy all of it.

After choosing the items, he was about to confirm the trade.

His sixth sense, as a seasoned player, suddenly became alert.

Lin Xun looked at the two worthless items on the list, which would only cost him 30 spiritual points to buy them all.

“They might come in handy.”

Since it was only 30 spiritual points, Lin Xun nonchalantly chose the two worthless items as well.

[You presented 3230 spiritual points to the ‘Unknown Shadow’ behind the fence window…]

Presented?

What happened to the trade? Why did it change to presented?

Lin Xun frowned, feeling something was awry.

[A chilling laugh came from within the window.]

[The ‘Unknown Shadow’ did not hand over the goods to you, it played a prank on you.]

???

Is it not one hand exchange money, and the other hand exchanges goods?

The NPCs in this game were even more treacherous than the game itself. The trader NPC ripped him off over three thousand spiritual points without a word!

[Foolish apostle, what will you do?]

[1. Accept your misfortune, leave cursing and swearing, find a secluded corner, cry alone, and silently lick your wounded heart.]

[2. Rage in impotence, curse its eighteen generations, pick up a stone from the roadside, throw it into the window, this might make you feel a little better.]

[3. Shoot it, use a ‘Profane Blood Sun’ to blast the door of the trading post, brandish your magician’s staff, and let it die a miserable death from an injury to its chrysanthemum.]

“I originally wanted to be a kind and law-abiding apostle…”

Lin Xun squinted his eyes and directly chose the third option, shoot it!

[You boldly step to the entrance of the trading post, raise your staff, and recite the incantation…]

[A flash of red light…]

[The wooden door of the trading post was instantly reduced to ashes. The modest room was clearly visible with the ‘Unknown Shadow’ being a dancer in gorgeous clothing.]

[Its eyes were blood red, and its limbs had turned into joints covered in stiff bristles. The end of its right limb was sharp as a blade, reflecting streaks of cold light in the candlelight inside.]

[You raise your staff, recite the incantation…]

[The ‘Fallen Theatre Dancer’ let out a strange laugh, took graceful dance steps, her figure gradually became transparent, disappearing.]

[A flash of red light…]

[You blasted a humongous hole into the trading post’s inner wall, but your target had already disappeared.]

Lin Xun was dumbstruck.

“Damn it!”

This creature could go invisible?

And then scam him of three thousand spiritual points and run?

Lin Xun got angrier the more he thought about it, but his mind was unexpectedly calm.

When he traded with the dancer just now, the text displayed was ‘presented’. This means that as long as he can kill the dancer, he could get his spiritual points back.

After a thorough search of the trading post, he didn’t find any valuable clues or props.

He left the trading post, and the game text continued to display.

[Under the bright moonlight, you continued along the road of the town ruins. Soon after, you encountered a fork in the road, with three paths: left, middle, and right.]

[Where would you like to go?]

[1. The path on the left, you look up and see what seems to be a market at the end of the road. It’s utterly deserted and eerily quiet, with many dirty cloths supported by wooden stakes.]

[2. The middle path – if you follow straight down the middle path, it will lead to the outskirts of Saint Lance, where there seems to be a cemetery.]

[3. The path on the right – squint your eyes and focus on the end of this path. You’ll see a huge, low, round building which appears to be the ancient theater of Saint Lance.]

The ancient theater!

This is clearly the dancer’s den.

“Ha, the monk may run but the temple can’t. I’ll wipe you out along with your den!”

Lin Xun decisively presses the third option.

[You’ve stepped onto the right path, proceeding.]

[Abandoned path, the crunch of shattered stones under your feet composing a melody of revenge in the quiet night.]

[You stand in front of the ‘Saint Lance Ancient Theater’, this huge lowly round structure, made from huge white stones. Its boundaries marked by a series of arched doorways. Originally designed for appreciating song and dance performances, it was later transformed into a bloody gladiator arena that also hosted beast battles.]

[Do you want to enter the ‘Saint Lance Ancient Theater’?]

[You stride forward, entering through the arched doorway, inside the ‘Saint Lance Ancient Theater.’]

[You walk through the dark and narrow corridors, stepping onto the grandstands.]

[Moonlight pours down, the open-air stage at the center of the ancient theater brightly lit like daytime. A dancer clad in gorgeous performance attire dances gracefully, deftly moving her feet, and between her shifting dances leaving behind a series of bloody shadows.]

[Around the stage are rows of stone-seated grandstands, where dozens of ‘corrupted Blood Sun devotees’ gather, watching the dance.]

[Your sudden arrival makes the ‘audience members’ on the grandstands all turn to look at you.]

[Apostle filled with rage, what do you do now?]

[1. Slap your forehead as if you suddenly have an epiphany ‘I forgot to buy a ticket’ and then scamper out of the ancient theater.]

[2. Shout out loudly ‘What are you looking at? Haven’t you seen a fanatic before?’ Hold up your staff and attack the audience on the grandstand.]

[3. Wave your ‘glowstick’, releasing daylight. Aim for the dancer’s face, cheering and shouting for the dancer passionately.]

The first option is to flee, the second option is to attack the minor monsters on the grandstand, and the third option is to directly attack the dancer.

Without hesitation, Lin Xun presses the third option.

[You raise your staff, murmuring a spell…]

[The dancer in the middle of the stage seems to sense something; she looks at you, her blood-red eyes brimming with mockery.]

[‘The Corrupted Dancer of the Ancient Theater’ moves her agile steps, her figure gradually becoming transparent and disappearing.]

[Red light flashes…]

[Unfortunately, you missed your target.]

Lin Xun takes a deep breath, suppressing the rage in his heart.

The dancer simply wouldn’t confront him directly, just choosing to disappear instead.

If they could fight face to face, with the Yellow Bishop’s laser cannon’s power, Lin Xun was confident of blasting this monster to pieces.

Lin Xun waits for a long time, but the ‘Corrupted Dancer of the Ancient Theater’ doesn’t reappear.

He frowns slightly, wondering if he startled the dancer away or if she is a special kind of monster that disappears upon being attacked.

He opens the Apostle interface. His soul strength is 1/2; he can’t reshape the Law Knight and the Engineer.

However, even if he wears the shell of the Law Knight and the Engineer, as long as the monster does not fight face to face and disappears upon attacked, a vicious circle will still occur.

He opens the item menu to check his items.

His gaze falls on the ‘Boiling Subdragon Blood Essence’. He looks at it for a moment before shaking his head.

It’s not the time to use this item yet, there must be other ways to deal with the dancer.

Suddenly, he thinks of another method to make the dancer reappear.

Lin Xun isn’t sure if it’ll work, but he decides to try it anyway.

He leaves the ancient theater and heads back to the small church in Fox Castle.

He chooses to set the respawn point on the Rest Page, and then rests to refresh.

After the refresh, he returns to the ancient theater.

[You walk through the dark and narrow corridors, stepping onto the grandstands.]

[Moonlight pours down, the open-air stage at the center of the theater brightly lit like daytime. A dancer clad in gorgeous performance attire dances gracefully, deftly moving her feet, and between her shifting dances leaving behind a series of bloody shadows.]

As expected, after the refresh, the dancer returns to the ancient theater!

Lin Xun licks his lips. Since refreshing can bring the dancer back to the ancient theater, it means he has infinite chances to try and error, not being afraid of not being able to kill this monster.
