Chapter 325: Chapter 325: Deleting Posts

“Really?” Zhu Dawei exclaimed in surprise as he looked at Fang Hao, “If you liked Lan Yudie, I reckon you would have made a move long ago. Why wait until now?”

“Hmph.” Fang Hao snorted, “I’m not interested in Lan Yudie. The main thing is…”

At this point, Fang Hao immediately choked back the words that were at the tip of his tongue, saying, “It’s nothing!”

Fang Hao found it difficult and embarrassing to admit that his restaurant had been run out of business by a freshman from their first year, and what’s more, the freshman had opened a bigger and more successful restaurant. His own restaurant had been driven to its end by their competition. He suspected that the guys in the dorm wouldn’t sympathize with him, but would rather look down on him for not being able to outdo a freshman. Therefore, Fang Hao had no choice but to endure it.

While they were eating and drinking, suddenly, a guy with a buzz cut, wearing a white T-shirt, walked in.

“Wow, you guys are still celebrating?” The buzz cut guy laughed, “The forums are on fire, and you still feel like eating?”

“What’s going on?” Zhu Dawei asked, puzzled.

“You’d know if you took a look!” The guy dropped his bag, sat down, and chugged a bottle of beer in one go.

Zhu Dawei hurriedly turned on his computer.

Bang!

Suddenly, Zhu Dawei slammed his hand on the table and said, “Fuck, who is this? Bringing in a whole army of internet trolls!”

“What do you mean?” Fang Hao quickly asked.

“Someone’s causing trouble!” Zhu Dawei declared.

“What happened?” Fang Hao curiously leaned in.

“Look!” Zhu Dawei pointed to the screen helplessly and said, “I suspect Xiao Han has hired internet trolls, and now the public opinion is swaying their way. All our efforts we just made might have been in vain.”

“How could this happen!” Fang Hao asked anxiously.

“There’s nothing I can do,” Zhu Dawei sighed.

“You’re the admin, just delete their posts and be done with it,” Fang Hao said urgently.

“This…” At this, Zhu Dawei said, “That won’t be right. It goes against the forum management rules. As an admin, I can’t just break the rules willy-nilly.”

“Dawei, just help me out this one time,” Fang Hao pleaded with Zhu Dawei.

Zhu Dawei hesitated, acutely aware of his responsibilities as an administrator. If he got caught, that could spell trouble. But considering his relationship with Fang Hao, it seemed wrong not to help.

“Alright!” Zhu Dawei reluctantly agreed and laughed, “After all, we’re seniors about to graduate, it doesn’t really matter if I stay as the admin or not.”

“Don’t worry,” Fang Hao smiled, “After you graduate, you can work for my family’s company, I guarantee I won’t let you down!”

“Great!” Zhu Dawei was overjoyed upon hearing this. He immediately logged into the forum as an admin and promptly deleted several highly popular posts, then stickied the previous ones.

After the task was done, Zhu Dawei clapped his hands and announced, “It’s sorted. Let’s continue drinking. They won’t be causing any trouble this time.”

“Hehehe…” Fang Hao chuckled maliciously, then added, “This time, it’ll be tough for them to turn things around!”

Liu Bin had been keeping an eye on Shuimu University’s forums. When he refreshed the page, he immediately noticed that his elaborately written posts had vanished, disappeared without a trace. This puzzled Liu Bin.

“That’s odd, where are the posts?” Liu Bin was perplexed.

“Someone deleted them.” Zhang Dagou said gravely, “Damn, I didn’t expect this, really didn’t see it coming.”

“Fuck, they were really deleted,” Liu Bin burst out angrily, “The fox finally shows its tail.”

“What’s happening?” Xiao Han, who was reading nearby, noticed that something was off in the dorm.

“Our posts have been deleted,” Liu Bin’s voice shook as he spoke.

“By who!” Xiao Han immediately dropped his book.

“Whoever’s spreading rumours behind our backs, that’s who deleted them,” Liu Bin said coldly yet seriously, “The fox has finally shown its tail. Xiao Han, haven’t you always wanted to find out who’s behind the slanders? I can now tell you who is the accomplice behind the scenes!”

“Who!” Xiao Han pressed eagerly.

“Zhu Dawei!” Liu Bin smirked, “Zhu Dawei is a senior in our Computer Science department, rumored to have amazing skills. The teachers trusted him with the management of the Shuimu University forum. And now, this guy has brazenly violated the forum management rules. Hehe… I’ve caught him by the tail.”

“Why would Zhu Dawei do such a thing?” Xiao Han asked, confused.

“Why not find him and ask him yourself?” Liu Bin said with a sly grin, “Maybe he fancies Lan Yudie and feels resentment because you got there first, so he’s using his position to oppress and take revenge!”

“That’s unlikely!” Xiao Han shook his head, “If he wanted to retaliate, he probably would have done so long ago. Why wait until now!”

“Regardless, we’ve now identified Zhu Dawei,” Liu Bin chuckled, “Xiao Han, when do you think we should confront this guy for questioning?”

“Hmm!” Xiao Han nodded, “There are so many suspicions, it’s necessary to find this guy and have a good talk with him.”

“Yes!” Liu Bin nodded. “I’ve long wanted to have a go at this guy.”

Zhu Dawei’s one move exposed his whereabouts. He thought deleting the posts would solve everything. To his surprise, it led to an even greater backlash. Liu Bin immediately called a friend who worked as an internet promoter, asking for a solution. Once they heard the posts were deleted, they quickly organized a counterattack.

Soon, Shuimu University’s forum was overrun with countless posts. Most of them complained about the administrators deleting posts.

In just one hour, more than a thousand posts were made.

Zhu Dawei was stunned by what he saw.

“What… What should we do now?” Zhu Dawei’s eyes widened in disbelief.

“Keep deleting!” Fang Hao spoke up.

“They have too many people on their side,” Zhu Dawei shook his head. “It’s no use continuing. It’s simply impossible to delete them all. I can’t handle this on my own.”

“Then what do we do?” Fang Hao asked.

“We can only temporarily shut down the forum,” Zhu Dawei said with a resigned sigh, then added, “We’ll announce to the public that the forum is being upgraded.”

“We’re not going to just admit defeat, are we?” Fang Hao hurriedly said.

“Of course not!” Zhu Dawei immediately shook his head. “We’ll just dodge their offensive for now. They’re internet trolls; they can’t keep this up for long.”

“Yeah, that makes sense!” Fang Hao nodded.

Afterward, Zhu Dawei immediately shut down the forum. Anyone trying to access it would see a message on the homepage saying the forum was undergoing maintenance…

……

Bang!

Liu Bin slammed his hand onto the computer desk, cursing in anger, “Fuck, that’s so shameless. I’ve seen shameless, but never this shameless. They actually used admin privileges to shut down the forum. No way, I’m going to complain!”

Having said that, Liu Bin immediately called a teacher from the Computer Science department to report the situation in detail.

When the teacher from the Computer Science department heard about it, he was alarmed. A forum vital to the image of Shuimu University had been shut down. He immediately called Zhu Dawei. When Zhu Dawei saw the call, he was bewildered. Panicked, he thought, “It’s over, the teacher has found out. What… What should I do?”

“Just say there was an error with the forum,” Fang Hao quickly suggested.

Zhu Dawei thought for a moment, then reluctantly answered the call.

“Zhu Dawei, what on earth is going on? Why did you shut down the forum? Open it up immediately!” The teacher on the other end of the phone sternly criticized, “This is our university’s forum, with so much traffic every day. How could you just shut it down?”

“Teacher, there were some errors with the forum, I… I’m fixing them!” Zhu Dawei hurriedly replied.

“Someone has already reported it to me,” the teacher’s voice was stern over the phone. “You actually abused your admin status to maliciously delete posts and shut down the forum… You’re being too audacious, don’t you think? What do you take our university’s forum for?”

“No, no, I didn’t!” Zhu Dawei hurriedly tried to explain.

“Come to the server room right now!” the teacher angrily commanded.

A student dared to shut down the university’s forum; what audacity that was!

After hanging up the phone, Zhu Dawei’s face was filled with dejection.

“It’s over!” Zhu Dawei let out a sigh.

“Don’t worry,” Fang Hao said with a smile. “You’re his prized student; he won’t punish you too harshly!”

“Sigh!” Zhu Dawei looked at Fang Hao helplessly, then walked reluctantly toward the server room.

In the server room, Zhu Dawei inevitably faced a scolding.

Soon after, the forum was reopened. This time, all those messy posts were deleted. But under the authorization of a teacher from the Computer Science department, the forum was temporarily set to browsing-only mode; any posting or replying functionalities were locked down.

“Hehe, a temporary victory!” Liu Bin chuckled.

“Next time we catch that little punk, we’ll give him a beating!” Zhang Feng said, rolling up his sleeves.

The forum uproar came to an end, but rumors of Xiao Han and Lan Yudie’s love affair had been completely exposed within the university.

The next day. Principal’s office.

“Principal Chen, Lan Yudie must be given a warning.”

“Right, give her a warning, and also place Xiao Han on probation for observation,” another added.

In the office, several people were righteously denouncing the ‘illicit love affair’ between Xiao Han and Lan Yudie. These were all old-fashioned professors. Their minds were trapped in decades past.

Chen Aiguo looked at the professors, speaking with an amiable smile, “Gentlemen, let’s all sit down and talk this through.”

“Principal Chen, you are our school’s Party Secretary,” a middle-aged man with graying hair, who had dedicated his life to mathematics but achieved little, sat earnestly across from Chen Aiguo and said, “A love affair between a teacher and a student is something that has been intolerable since ancient times. And now it has happened at our Shuimu University. If this gets out, it will certainly provoke attacks against us. This could greatly damage our university’s reputation…”
