Chapter 357: 357: Sports Day
Chapter 357: Chapter 357: Sports Day
“What do you mean by that?” Liu Hao looked at Fang Hao with a puzzled face.
“My meaning is quite simple,” Fang Hao’s mouth curled slightly upward, and then he said, “Since Hei Tie are unwilling to kill, let’s make them want to kill. All it takes is a fuse.”
“That’s tough,” Liu Hao frowned.
“Not tough at all!” Fang Hao chuckled mischievously and said, “The relationship between Dao Meng and Xiao Han is delicate right now. Plus, rumors are swirling around the provincial city that Dao Meng deliberately threw a fake match, claiming that Xiao Han is a member of Dao Meng. So, I think we can take advantage of this situation.”
“I see,” Liu Hao laughed upon hearing this.
…………….
A secret plot was about to unfold.
Meanwhile, Xiao Han was busy preparing for the sports meet. A week blinked by. Shuimu University’s Autumn Sports Meet was about to commence. This year’s sports meet was scheduled later than in previous years. However, the weather was perfect, with cold temperatures in the early morning and evening but quite high during the day, reaching over ten to twenty degrees. It was suitable for holding an autumn sports meet.
The first day of December was the opening day of Shuimu University’s Autumn Sports Meet.
Each department donned their uniforms. To the backdrop music of the athletes’ march-in, athletes and students from over dozens of departments filed in slowly. Thankfully, Shuimu University’s stadium was big enough. In the stands, tens of thousands of students from Shuimu University were present. Each department had its own cheerleading squad. Lan Yudie, as the cheerleading captain of the Finance Department, joined by five or six of the prettiest girls selected from the Finance Department, wore low-cut tops and low-rise short skirts, then stood on the stands to dance.
“Wow, isn’t that Lan Yudie?”
“So beautiful.”
“So sexy!”
The male students couldn’t help but salivate, their eyes glued, wishing they could press their eyeballs against Lan Yudie’s chest and thighs. Not only Lan Yudie, but the six tall and stunning girls behind her also attracted attention and tempted onlookers.
“Xiao Han, look!” Zhang Feng pulled Xiao Han urgently, pointing at the stands.
“Xiao Yu?” Xiao Han was taken aback as Lan Yudie waved her streamers toward him.
“Looks like she really kept her promise!” Zhang Feng laughed with a heh-heh: “Taking charge as the cheerleading captain personally, Xiao Han, you’ve got no choice but to push yourself today.”
Xiao Han pursed his lips and said, “Who asked her to do this.”
“Haha, feeling a tad jealous?” Zhang Feng, dressed in sportswear, laughed and said: “A woman’s beauty is meant to be appreciated, not hidden away. But Teacher Lan is indeed wearing a little too little today!”
“Not just a little, way too little,” Xiao Han muttered: “Isn’t she afraid of catching a cold?”
Xiao Han had ample confidence in himself; he wasn’t worried about Lan Yudie wearing too revealing clothes and attracting other men’s pursuit. He was just concerned that Lan Yudie was wearing too little and might catch a cold.
After the Finance Department’s athletes marched in, it was the Arts Department’s turn.
The athletes from the Arts Department were not as numerous; those passionate about the arts generally didn’t like sports. They preferred either a quiet stay or enjoyed roaming mountains and rivers, wandering among green hills and blue waters. To artists, sports were a brutish affair.
The athletes from the Physical Education Department were the most numerous, with nearly the whole department registered. It was an all-inclusive event with no limits on the number of participants per class. Therefore, almost every class from the Physical Education Department registered. Their entrance was domineering, with the man holding the red flag at the front being the champion from past years. He had swept almost all the championships in the events he registered for, so his appearance this year immediately caused a sensation in the stands.
“Tao Jun, look, Tao Jun is here,” the announcer’s voice came excitedly through the broadcast, eagerly saying, “The sports champions from the Physical Education Department are marching toward the field with the passion in their blood. They stride with nimble steps, waving their sturdy arms… Let’s welcome them with a warm round of applause!”
Rustle rustle…
The venue, packed with thousands, erupted into thunderous applause. The scene was full of fervor.
After the athletes’ entrance, the 100 meters preliminaries quickly began. According to the manual, Xiao Han was scheduled to compete in the third preliminary group. And Tao Jun was in this group, too. This group could be referred to as the “group of death,” as aside from Tao Jun, there were a couple of strong contenders from the Physical Education Department. So, for other departments, this group was virtually a dead end. Only the top two from the preliminaries would advance to the semifinals.
“Xiao Han is in a dangerous group!” Liu Bin, from the Computer Science Department, didn’t register to compete but had quietly made his way to the front of the stands with Zhang Dagou.
“Damn, isn’t this forcing people into a dead end?” Zhang Dagou said in astonishment.
Up at the front, Xiao Han was already warming up. Zhang Feng comforted him by the side: “Xiao Han, just do your best. Don’t push yourself too hard. After all, we’re not professional athletes.”
“I know!” Xiao Han nodded.
Meanwhile, more than a dozen PE students were warming up. From their gear, they looked much more professional than Xiao Han. They wore professional running attire, complete with spiked shoes. This sports outfit made them look very professional. In contrast, Xiao Han’s attire, though sporty, seemed cumbersome and was not as light. He wore long pants for swinging his arms and a pair of running shoes—lacking the professional spiked shoes of the PE students.
“Look at that idiot,” Tao Jun pointed at Xiao Han and said to a companion, “He thinks he can compete with us dressed like that.”
“Hey, just pretend they don’t exist,” laughed a student athlete from the side. “Let’s see which of us three can make it to the semifinals. Tao Zi, this time I’m going to surpass you.”
“Haha, what difference does it make if I give you a head start?” taunted Tao Jun with a laugh.
“Cut the crap, you’re embarrassing me!” his companion retorted irritably.
The first two groups of the preliminary round had finished quickly, and it was almost time for the third group to take the stage. A referee nearby started calling out names one by one.
Tao Jun was in lane one, his companion in lane two, Xiao Han in lane three, and another student athlete in lane four, with students from other departments filling the remaining lanes. Xiao Han loosened up his limbs. In fact, for a sprint like this, he could leave them far behind without any preparation at all. While at Linjiang No.1 Middle School, Xiao Han had already demonstrated his sprinting ability in sports once. It was the early stage of Xiao Han’s awakening. More than a year had passed, and Potential No. 2 had fully spread throughout Xiao Han’s body. As a result, his abilities had become even more formidable. Brain functions could stimulate the body to unleash tremendous power, as if he had taken a stimulant, and it would not be detected.
Tao Jun glanced at Xiao Han and said, “Junior, don’t cry if you lose!”
“Mm, whoever loses had better not cry!” Xiao Han nodded.
“Haha…” A group of people burst into laughter, completely misunderstanding the implication of Xiao Han’s words.
The referee announced to get ready.
Everyone crouched down, each demonstrating powerful prowess. They all adopted the crouch start, which offered considerable advantages due to its potent starting power.
Xiao Han crouched down too, hands supporting the ground, everyone’s buttocks poked high in the air.
Tao Jun turned his head towards Xiao Han and said, “Don’t trip when you start.”
Bang!
The starter’s gun sounded immediately.
Xiao Han couldn’t care less, he shot out instantly. Tao Jun was a beat slow off the mark because he was preoccupied with teasing Xiao Han.
Xiao Han reacted swiftly, he was practically the first to burst out.
“Wow, wow, Xiao Han is in the lead!” Zhang Dagou, clutching a bag of chips, shouted excitedly, “Xiao Han, keep it up!”
Up in the stands, Lan Yudie and the cheerleaders shouted their encouragement. Seeing Xiao Han leading by half a body length, Lan Yudie was thrilled and pumped with excitement.
Tao Jun suddenly had a bad premonition. He charged forward like mad, but Xiao Han’s figure was right in front, and he always felt infuriatingly out of reach. Moreover, this distance remained constant right to the finish line.
When Xiao Han crossed the finish line, the crowd erupted into a roar.
“See that, see that? That student who isn’t from the Physical Education Department has beaten Tao Jun!”
“Holy cow, that guy actually defeated Tao Jun. I didn’t expect this year’s first dark horse to emerge so quickly, so cool!”
Amidst a buzz of discussion in the stands, all eyes focused on Xiao Han.@@novelbin@@
After crossing the finish line, Xiao Han raised his fist high as if signaling to the entire audience that he was the real hero of the track.
Tao Jun looked crestfallen. As for his companion, he was even more helpless. To think, a talent from the Physical Education Department didn’t even make it to the semifinals—it was quite embarrassing. The audience booed, a sound meant for the Physical Education Department and Tao Jun alike, while applause was reserved for Xiao Han.
“Don’t cry if you lose!” Xiao Han said to Tao Jun with a casual smile, then turned and walked away.
“Fuck!” Tao Jun, furious, turned with the intention to strike Xiao Han.
Hurriedly, his companion held him back, then said, “Don’t get physical; it’s your fault.”
“Damn it, he humiliated me!” Tao Jun fumed.
“But you humiliated him first!” his companion retorted with a smile. “If you really want to embarrass him, beat him in the finals and then humiliate him properly. That’s when you have the right to embarrass someone, isn’t it?”
“Damn it!” Tao Jun could hardly contain his anger, grinding his teeth, “I must beat that son of a bitch.”
“You got distracted just now; you were slow off the start!” his companion pointed out. “If you’d started as quickly as he did, you would definitely have been faster.”
“Right!” Tao Jun nodded. Biting his lip, he said resentfully, “I can’t believe I lost to a finance student in the preliminaries. It burns me up just thinking about it!”
