Chapter 420: 420: The Mole
Chapter 420: Chapter 420: The Mole
At that moment, Yang Daguo walked out from his office.
“Listen carefully to me,” Yang Daguo said coldly, sweeping his gaze over everyone, “Wu Yue, this ungrateful traitor, has betrayed the company’s interests, colluded with outsiders, and conspired against us. Today, the company has officially called the police, and our legal department will formally file a lawsuit. What awaits him will be a prison sentence; he must be held accountable for his actions.”
Whoosh…
A murmuring buzz instantly rose among the crowd, everyone was dumbfounded.
Wu Yue had always been quite integrated with everyone at the company. Yet, from now on, it turned out that this guy was a hidden demon who betrayed the company’s interests and colluded with outsiders to plot against the company. It was utterly disgraceful.
“Damn, this bastard is so wicked!”
“Perhaps this guy also embezzled, and took our money away.”
“Beat him to death.”
The workers’ emotions immediately flared up. In the crowd, several sleazy figures shrunk their necks, and a few turned and went to the dormitories. They dared not go to the company to collect their salaries. After reaching the dormitories, they gathered together.
“What should we do? What can we do?”
“Let’s run away quickly, or do we want to end up like Wu Yue?”
“Do they all know?”
The few were terrified, exhibiting sheer panic. Inside, they were still extremely unsettled. Huddled together, their hearts were torn with struggle. With things having developed to this extent, how could they not be anxious?
“If we just leave like this, doesn’t that mean we lose three months of wages?”
“Forget the wages, it’s crucial we save ourselves now.”
“Hongda has given us enough money for three months of wages, and besides, we can ask them for a subsidy when we leave. Let’s go to the coastal city and find a job there.”
After a further discussion, they quickly began to pack their bags. They could not take big items and had to take some valuables instead, then they quietly left through the factory’s back door without anyone noticing, because at that time everyone was busy collecting salaries, and no one would pay attention to a few insignificant figures.
The four accountants had been busy from noon until five in the afternoon, finally distributing the salaries of more than two hundred people. For three months, over two hundred people, including overtime and performance bonuses, a total of over eleven million had been given out. Xiao Han’s account immediately saw a reduction by half.
After the last worker had collected his, Xiao Han asked, “How is it? Is there anyone left?”
“There are five people left,” the accountant reported, “These five did not come to collect their money.”
“Oh?” Xiao Han squinted his eyes and then said with a smile, “Immediately have someone find these five people.”
“Yes!” Yang Daguo quickly nodded.
Soon, everyone began searching everywhere, but after scouring the entire factory, the factory’s seven or eight supervisors came forward and reported that these five individuals were no longer at the company. However, their personal belongings were still in the dormitory.
“Director Yang, these people cannot be found,” the group leader of the hardware department hurriedly spoke: “They may have already left.”
“Gone?” Yang Daguo was stunned and said, “Impossible, just like that they left?”
“Yes!” the group leader nodded.
“Leaving behind nearly thirty thousand in salary for three months without collecting it, and sneaking off,” Xiao Han sneered as he looked at Li Xiaoya and Yang Daguo, “What do you think… this implies?”
“There must be something fishy!” Yang Daguo narrowed his eyes and then said, “These guys might be hidden ‘Wu Yues’!”
Li Xiaoya smiled, “One could guess with their toes. Xiao Han exposed Wu Yue, quickly deterring several hidden traitors. They lack psychological fortitude and soon gave themselves away. Hmph. Very well, alert the authorities, get all of them caught.”
“Yes!” Yang Daguo quickly nodded.
“No!” Xiao Han shook his head, then said, “If we capture them, who will dig out the people behind this?”
“Uh…” Yang Daguo paused, asking, “What should we do then?”
“There’s always a way,” Xiao Han smiled slightly and said, “Find the workers who were close to these people and have a heart-to-heart with them. I believe we might uncover some clues from here.”
“Yes!” Yang Daguo nodded.
Xiao Han said to Li Xiaoya, “Sister, it’s getting late, let’s go back. You haven’t eaten all day.”
“Yes!” Li Xiaoya nodded.
Yang Daguo hurriedly escorted Xiao Han and Li Xiaoya away. As Xiao Han turned around, he said to Yang Daguo, “Keep this card, the factory needs to maintain production and will need funds, plus, next month’s salaries will also need to be distributed, we must wait until the next quarter to recover the revenue.”
“Yes, yes!” Yang Daguo nodded.
Li Xiaoya and Xiao Han left the factory.
In the car, Li Xiaoya sighed and said, “Xiao Han, if it weren’t for you today, I really wouldn’t know what to do?”
“Fool, you should have told me earlier!” Xiao Han held Li Xiaoya’s hand and then said, “You’ve been carrying this burden alone for so long, you’ve become haggard and lost a lot of weight. It really hurts me to see you like this.”
“Really?” Li Xiaoya’s face turned slightly red and said, “But the places that shouldn’t lose weight haven’t lost an ounce.”
Upon hearing this, Xiao Han felt a sudden surge of emotion. His gaze involuntarily drifted towards Li Xiaoya’s chest. She was wearing a white blouse, with the first top button and the second one undone. A large expanse of snow-white skin was exposed, including a deep, enchanting cleavage, making Xiao Han’s blood boil instantly. As a boy in his adolescence, his body was like a pile of gunpowder, a slight friction could cause a massive explosion at any moment.
Now, Li Xiaoya, regardless of the danger of explosion, took the initiative to tease Xiao Han.
“Sister, you…” Xiao Han managed a wry smile.
“Don’t think too much about it.” Li Xiaoya smiled slightly and said, “Let’s find a place to eat.”
“Okay.” Xiao Han quickly nodded, then turned his head to look out the window.
Meanwhile, Li Xiaoya turned her head to look at Xiao Han, seeming somewhat disappointed. The light teasing she had just initiated had taken quite a bit of courage. Yet, Xiao Han was completely unappreciative, which made Li Xiaoya feel lost inside.
Li Xiaoya picked a rather elegant place to dine.
The restaurant was nice and well-decorated. They sat down at a table by the window.
Looking at Li Xiaoya, Xiao Han asked, “Sister, what would you like to eat?”
“This place is known for its fish.” Li Xiaoya smiled and said, “How about we get a grilled fish and some side dishes? What do you think?”
“Sure!” Xiao Han immediately nodded.
The grilled fish was a specialty of the restaurant. After grilling, it was covered with broth and then cooked over charcoal fire. The deliciousness of the fish combined with the tasty broth provided a very good taste and made it quite appetizing.
Xiao Han hadn’t eaten lunch and had only consumed a bowl of porridge in the morning. So, as soon as the food arrived, he began to devour his meal noisily.
Li Xiaoya watched Xiao Han eat, occasionally taking a few bites herself. Watching him eat seemed to bring her physical and emotional pleasure. Despite having ordered a table full of dishes, Xiao Han had wolfed down most of them.
After eating his fill, Xiao Han wiped his mouth and smiled, “Sister, I’m full.”
“Already?” Li Xiaoya was surprised.
“Uh-huh!” Xiao Han nodded and then said, “I’m full.”
“I’m full too.” Li Xiaoya quickly put down her chopsticks.
Xiao Han was clueless about observing subtle cues and had no idea Li Xiaoya had hardly touched her food. She had concerns hidden deep inside her, something Xiao Han could not comprehend.
“Sister, let me take you home!” Xiao Han smiled.
“No need.” Li Xiaoya shook her head and said, “I’ll drop you off at school first, then have the driver take me home.”
“That works!” Xiao Han nodded.
The sadness in Li Xiaoya’s eyes deepened, hiding a layer of sorrow deep within her heart.
Back at school.
In the dormitory, everyone was busy. Liu Bin had stopped playing on his computer, and Zhang Dagou was also busy reviewing his lessons. Zhang Feng had stopped reading online novels and was instead frantically studying his textbooks. The end-of-semester exams were approaching fast, and it was the first time they were taking them, so failure was not an option. Once failed, it meant that they would not earn the credits. Without enough credits over the four years of college, they would not be able to graduate.
“All busy, huh?” Xiao Han chuckled.
“Damn, you’re the most carefree of us all,” Liu Bin glanced at Xiao Han and said, “Here we are, miserably cramming, and you’ve been out flirting. Man, comparisons really kill.”
“Effort during regular days saves grief at test time,” Xiao Han glanced at them and said, “Why don’t you guys work harder usually? Studying at the last minute now.”
“Enough, we need to cram the key points for the exam.” Liu Bin gave Xiao Han a look and said, “You, just stay out of this.”
The buddies were bustling about, just to score some extra points on the end-of-term exams.
Xiao Han shook his head and started attending to his own matters.
…………….
The end-of-term exam arrived as scheduled.
The three-day exams were exceedingly sorrowful for many. For students just starting college, the first year was the easiest to slack off. Indeed, they had indulged themselves, and that meant trouble was brewing. Regular study was neglected and last-minute cramming for exams was destined for misfortune.
The three days of exams went by in the blink of an eye.
“Ah, we have to go back now?” Liu Bin sighed.
“What? You don’t want to go back already?” Xiao Han replied not too kindly, “None of us has it as good as you, living locally. Look at Zhang Feng, he’s from out of town. And look at Zhang Dagou, he’s from Shandong. Isn’t he farther away than you, yet you still don’t want to go back?”
“That’s not what I mean,” Liu Bin shook his head and then said, “The problem now is, I’ve finally made some progress with Guan Xiaotong, and now we’re facing the winter break. If I go back for the holiday and come back, I’m afraid she might…”
