Chapter 427: Chapter 427: Going Home

“Sure!” Liu Sisi nodded.

After watching Xiao Han enter the campus, Liu Sisi turned to catch a taxi and leave.

Once he entered the school, Xiao Han closed his eyes, his eyes brimming with tears. Liu Sisi’s action had truly moved him, even though they were just friends. Yet, she had been willing to help him in a world where people prefer to add flowers to the brocade rather than send charcoal in snowy weather.

Motivated by self-interest, nobody wants to help the poor, let alone strangers, and even relatives rarely offer aid. However, if the other party were an official or a person of power and prestige, even if there were no direct relations, people would be willing to spend all they have to curry favor with them.

Liu Sisi was a very simple girl, a gentle and virtuous one. At least, he and she did not have much of a vested interest, yet she was willing to donate her own money to help him. Because of this, Xiao Han silently swore in his heart that he could never let this girl down in the future.

After calming his excited emotions, Xiao Han slowly walked deeper into the school.

...

That evening in the dormitory, the two roommates were still fiercely competing.

Xiao Han returned to the dorm and began to pack his bags.

Early the next morning, after greeting Lan Yudie, Xiao Han drove away from the provincial city.

It had been half a year since he left home; he had come to register at school in the summer and only returned in winter. Now, he knew how his mother was doing at home. Although now she had become a regular employee, making her job much easier, she was a person who liked to do things herself. According to Principal Li Hengzhong, she didn’t act like a leader at the Sanitation Bureau but swept the streets with the sanitation workers, driving their enthusiasm with her own. This made her quite popular among the workers.

Of course, this was what Xiao Han had hoped for.

His mother was the team leader at the Sanitation Bureau, officially on the staff roster, which meant she could have avoided working herself; her daily task could merely be to delegate the day’s work, yet unexpectedly, she chose to lead the team on the streets to sweep.

Xiao Han drove back home, and because he had informed his mother ahead of time, the house was fragrant upon his arrival. A pot of chicken soup was simmering, and his mother was busy in the kitchen, her knife chopping ceaselessly on the cutting board.

“Mom, I’m back!” Xiao Han yelled.

“Xiao Han!” Mother Xiao quickly dropped the knife and ran out of the kitchen. Excitedly looking at Xiao Han, she said, “Son, you are finally back. I missed you so much. Come, let me see if you’ve lost weight!”

“Mom, I was fine at school!” Xiao Han chuckled and then added, “The teachers took good care of me, and I got along well with my dorm mates.”

“That’s good, that’s good,” Mother Xiao quickly nodded and said, “Come, sit on the sofa. Mom will cook for you.”

Having said that, Mother Xiao brought out a plate of fruit from the kitchen and placed it in front of Xiao Han, then turned back to her kitchen duties.

Xiao Han walked to his room and put down his backpack.

Lying on the sofa, feeling bored, he turned on his phone and flipped through the documents his late father had left behind, which contained a huge secret. Initially, Xiao Han didn’t believe it as the contents seemed somewhat pseudoscientific. When he read the documents about the People from the Outer Domain, it felt like a fantasy.

Yet, when he encountered Dark Angel at the Underground Boxing Ring that day, Xiao Han felt as if everything might indeed exist.

When he reopened those documents, Xiao Han’s expression changed and his hands trembled. He had never imagined that his father was one of the People from the Outer Domain. As for why his father was with the Chinese Academy of Sciences Genetic Research Group, that remained unknown, though Xiao Han found some clues in those documents. However, Xiao Han could not understand why his father, evidently a significant figure, would die in a car accident?

It all seemed to be shrouded in mystery.

Xiao Han turned off his phone and lay on the sofa, staring at the dark ceiling. Since his father was one of the People from the Outer Domain, then he must also possess the genes of the People from the Outer Domain? At that moment, Xiao Han finally understood why the Potential No. 2 experiment failed on others but succeeded on him.

Could it really be because of the gene issue?

Xiao Han was puzzled.

“Xiao Han, dinner’s ready,” Mother Xiao called out.

“Coming,” Xiao Han quickly responded.

“Go wash your hands,” Mother Xiao instructed.

“Sure thing!” Xiao Han nodded eagerly and scurried off to wash his hands. After that, he hurried to the table.

The best food in the world is the food made by Mom. The food in the school cafeteria was incomparable to his mother’s cooking. Initially, Xiao Han struggled to adapt, but eventually, he got used to it.

Finally home, he could enjoy his mother’s cooking again.

A table filled with delicious dishes. Now that their financial situation had improved at home, his mother’s salary of over three thousand a month and no tuition fees for Xiao Han, they could live quite comfortably.

On the table, there was plenty of fish and meat.

“Mom, you really went all out.” Xiao Han chuckled, “This turbot is quite expensive.”

“The fish is delicious,” Mother Xiao smiled. “Eat more and nourish your brain.”

“Mhm!” Xiao Han nodded.

Mother Xiao chuckled, then added, “Finish all the dishes on this table. I’ve been busy all morning.”

“Alrighty!” Xiao Han nodded again.

Xiao Han was in his prime growth stage and had a large appetite. He could eat several big bowls in one meal. With a table full of delicious food, Xiao Han ate with great excitement and thrill. Mother Xiao was older and ate less. She nibbled at her food and found joy in watching her son devour his meal.

Xiao Han single-handedly devoured all the dishes as if Wind Rolls the Clouds sweeping fallen leaves.

In less than ten minutes, Xiao Han had polished off three large bowls of rice and cleaned out the four dishes on the table. Mother Xiao hurriedly asked, “Are you full now?”

“Very full,” Xiao Han nodded.

“Then I’ll clear the plates,” Mother Xiao said with a smile.

As Mother Xiao began clearing the dishes, Li Dapang’s voice came from outside: “Xiao Han.”

“Big Fatty?” Xiao Han hurried outside. There, Li Dapang was atop a flashy motorcycle, parked under the big tree at their home’s entrance. Xiao Han poked his head out: “How did you know I was back? You sure have a lot of informants, don’t you?”

“Hehe!” Li Dapang chuckled and said, “Need you ask? The moment you came back, the brothers in Fuxing Community told me, and here I am.”

Xiao Han stepped out of the house and greeted his mother.

“Let’s go for a ride,” Xiao Han mounted Li Dapang’s motorcycle.

“Alrighty!” Li Dapang nodded, immediately revving the engine and speeding off.

They didn’t ride too fast since the winter wind was cold.

The two rode the motorcycle out of Fuxing Community, with Li Dapang driving slowly towards the city center.

“How are things on this side of Linjiang City?” Xiao Han asked.

“Pretty good,” Li Dapang nodded and said, “Brother Zhao opened two more branches. Now, Linjiang City has achieved our initial goal—we now have five branches. The locations of these branches are quite strategic, covering north, south, east, and west, and there’s one in the city center too. Currently, the city center branch does the best business. Almost every dining hour, it’s packed with customers waiting in line outside.”

“If that’s the case…” Xiao Han smiled and said, “I think it’s necessary to open another branch.”

“But Brother Zhao said there’s no need,” Li Dapang shook his head.

“Is that so?” Xiao Han paused, then asked, “What did he say?”

“Brother Zhao said this boosts our brand’s influence,” Li Dapang giggled, “The city center location sees a lot of foot traffic, and most importantly, people passing by can see customers queuing up at our Hanmen Restaurant. This saves us a lot on advertising costs, and our popularity continues to rise. So, what do you think?”

“I think… that’s also pretty good,” Xiao Han smiled.

As for Hanmen Technology, business remained booming.

As long as Apple products were popular, the business of Hanmen Technology would definitely thrive. Located at the intersection of a pedestrian street, the store saw a constant flow of people coming in to browse.

“By the way, I sent that cousin of mine packing,” Li Dapang suddenly said.

“Oh?” Xiao Han was taken aback, “Why?”

Li Dapang had indeed brought his cousin to work at the company, and it seemed that he was paid well, even higher than regular sales staff. Most importantly, since that guy had joined the store, he’d been idling away his time, not busy at all, leaving all the reception tasks to the frontline sales staff. The guy instead enjoyed himself, often hiding out in the office to drink tea.

“He was too unruly,” Li Dapang’s face flushed as he stated, “At first, he frequently harassed Yang Lu under the guise of pursuit, but it was actually sexual harassment. After Yang Lu left for the provincial city, the guy started getting handsy with the sales staff. I could have overlooked these incidents, considering he’s my cousin and I could bear with it. But last month, five phones were stolen from the company. After reviewing the surveillance, I found out he used his position to steal them. I absolutely cannot tolerate such principles being violated.”

“Mhm,” Xiao Han nodded, “Such a person shouldn’t be kept.”

“So I just let him go,” Li Dapang smiled and said, “After that, he started complaining about me at home, claiming I was jealous of his high performance, alleging that I deliberately framed him for the phone theft.”
