Chapter 342: So You Are That Shen Mo
Chapter 342: So You Are That Shen Mo
It was quite strange.
As soon as the Demonic Heart was taken out, the Nine Nether Ice Flame reacted like a hungry wolf spotting a defenseless lamb.
With a whoosh, it flared up violently.
The Sun Essence Flame and the Red Lotus Flame trembled in response, as if saying, What's up with this old guy? Is he about to rise up again?
Shen Mo found the situation amusing and reached out to touch the Demonic Heart.
Immediately, the Nine Nether Ice Flame surged forth, engulfing the heart.
In the next moment, it was like a giant python swallowing its prey in one gulp.
Satisfied, it settled inside his dantian and began refining the heart.
In just the blink of an eye, the previously dim and weakened Nine Nether Ice Flame had significantly improved.
Even its very nature seemed to be changing, like an old man suddenly regaining his youth.
Shen Mo raised an eyebrow.
Well now.
This really is one experienced old flame!
Seeing this, the Sun Essence Flame and the Red Lotus Flame quickly withdrew their fire tongues, adopting a more subdued and obedient demeanor.
Shen Mo couldn’t help but laugh.
Even exotic flames bully the weak and fear the strong.
“The Nine Nether Ice Flame is merely residing in my body temporarily for now.”
“When I have time later, I’ll try to tame it properly.”
He let out a slow breath, regaining his composure.
Just then, Zhou Mingyi flew over from the City Lord’s Mansion, drenched in sweat.
Seeing Shen Mo open his eyes, he was overjoyed. “Senior Shen, have you finished cultivating?”
Shen Mo gave a slight nod. “How many days have passed?”
Zhou Mingyi chuckled, “Just a day and a half.”
He was about to say more when several streaks of light appeared on the horizon.
Excited, he exclaimed, “Senior Shen, our Tianhe Sect members have arrived!”
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Several figures landed abruptly.
There were four of them, all elderly men with graying hair and beards.
Each wore the Tianhe Sect’s signature blue robes.
The leading elder, upon seeing Zhou Mingyi safe and sound, let out a breath of relief. “Xiao Zhou, I’m glad you’re unharmed.”
Behind him, another elder at the Divine Transformation stage asked in surprise, “Xiao Zhou, where is the Demonic Land? Where’s the demon leader? Did you slay it?”
All four elders collectively drew in sharp breaths.
Before coming, they had brought numerous precious artifacts, even some long-forgotten anti-demon treasures from the sect’s treasury.
They had mentally prepared for at least one or two casualties.
Yet here was Zhou Mingyi, completely unscathed, and Bo Yang City looked perfectly intact.
There was no sign of the devastation described in ancient records about the “Demonic Land.”
The Great Elder, misunderstanding the situation, grabbed Zhou Mingyi’s hand with admiration.
“Xiao Zhou, you’ve matured late, but even though you’re only at the early Divine Transformation stage, many who have reached completion in this realm might not be your match.”
“But you have one flaw—you’re too modest!”
“Don’t downplay your achievements. When you’ve done something great, you should claim credit for it! Everyone will only feel proud of you!”
The other elders nodded in agreement, looking at Zhou Mingyi with great satisfaction.
Decades ago, Zhou Mingyi had still been their disciple.
Now, he was standing beside them as an equal.
And not just that—he had supposedly slain a demon leader and destroyed a Demonic Land!
Once this news spread to other regions and sects, their Tianhe Sect would gain immense prestige.
Zhou Mingyi’s face turned red with frustration.
In the end, he had no choice but to raise his voice and shout, “It was Senior Shen! Not me!”
The elders froze for a moment before shifting their gaze to the nearby young man, who was smiling faintly.
The Great Elder studied Shen Mo with a puzzled expression.
His face looked so young.
A deep, unfathomable aura emanated from his body, as vast and boundless as the ocean itself.
The Great Elder cautiously cupped his fists in greeting. “Fellow Daoist, you are…?”
Shen Mo returned the gesture. “Shen Mo, just passing through Bo Yang City.”
The Great Elder let out a casual oh, then suddenly froze. “Shen Mo… what? Shen Mo?!”
His murky old eyes widened in shock as he stared at the young man before him.
The three elders behind him also stiffened, then immediately looked at Shen Mo as if they had just laid eyes on an invaluable treasure.
“You… you’re the same Shen Mo who slew the Crown Prince and Fourth Prince of the Ten Thousand Demon Kingdom? The one who annihilated three million of their demonic army?!” The Great Elder scrutinized Shen Mo again, unable to hold back his astonishment.
Shen Mo shook his head. “Three million demons? Those three armies combined barely reached one million. Your information is incorrect.”
The four elders exchanged glances and instinctively muttered, “Oh… so it was just one million… hiss… You really are that Shen Mo!”
At this moment, Zhou Mingyi also suddenly came to his senses.
The battle against the Ten Thousand Demon Kingdom in Yu Province had long since spread to Jiang Province.
The name Shen Mo had been passed from one person to ten, from ten to a hundred, until it became widely known.
Many people deeply admired the young vice-sect master of the Jade Cauldron Sect.
He had only just stepped into the Divine Transformation stage, yet his strength was already this terrifying.
Zhou Mingyi had always wanted to meet Shen Mo and see for himself what this legendary genius looked like.
He had even planned to introduce himself at the Sword Sovereign’s birthday banquet two years later.
Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine they would meet in such an unceremonious manner!
“Shen… Senior Shen…”
Zhou Mingyi scratched his head awkwardly.
Shen Mo chuckled. “Elder Zhou, I’ve already told you—I am not your senior.”
Zhou Mingyi smiled sheepishly.
His cultivation level was slightly higher than Shen Mo’s, and his age was significantly greater.
Addressing Shen Mo as “senior” was indeed inappropriate.
“Elders, the demonic leader here was slain by Daoist Shen, and the Demonic Land was purified by him. As for the traitors Murong Zhen and Zhang Peng, Daoist Shen also took care of them. I had nothing to do with it.”
Zhou Mingyi quickly clarified.
The Great Elder looked at Shen Mo in shock. “I never expected Daoist Shen to possess such astonishing strength!”
“You have rid Jiang Province of such a terrible scourge. As the hosts, we must hold a feast in your honor.”
“Would you be willing to visit our Tianhe Sect’s mountain gate?”
Shen Mo gave a slight nod. “That sounds good. I’d like to see what Tianhe Sect is like.”
The Great Elder was overjoyed. “Excellent, excellent! Let’s not delay—let’s go now!”
The group transformed into streaks of light and swiftly made their way toward the sect.
…
Half a month later, at the Tianhe Sect Mountain Gate.
More than a dozen elders of the Tianhe Sect, all at the Divine Transformation stage, had gathered.
At the forefront stood a figure dressed in azure robes—Shen Mo.
The atmosphere was amicable, and the discussions were smooth and harmonious.
Over the past few days, Shen Mo had gotten along quite well with the cultivators of Tianhe Sect.
Although the sect was closely tied to the imperial family of Jing Kingdom, they were, at their core, businessmen.
Now that Shen Mo had demonstrated his strength and eliminated a major threat to Jiang Province, he had immediately won their collective approval and admiration.
At that moment, an elderly man with snow-white hair stepped forward and approached Shen Mo.
He was none other than the current sect master of Tianhe Sect.
With both hands, he respectfully presented a storage ring to Shen Mo.
“Daoist Shen, this is a token of our Tianhe Sect’s gratitude. Please do not refuse.”
Shen Mo gave a slight nod and accepted the gift without hesitation.
“Gentlemen, until we meet again.” Shen Mo cupped his hands and smiled.
The sect master, the Great Elder, Zhou Mingyi, and the others all returned the gesture, smiling as well.
“Daoist Shen, until we meet again!”
Shen Mo ascended into the sky, disappearing into the horizon.
The sect master of Tianhe Sect let out a deep sigh. “I had heard about the situation in Yu Province, but I never imagined Shen Mo would be such a once-in-a-generation talent.”
