The cult saw an opportunity in the twisted summoning formation to gather power from the demons. These demons were ripe for exploitation, their essence extracted and condensed into dark crystals.

As for why my summoning formation became the focus of their experimentation, it traced back to the anomaly caused by the ancient legendary demon within me. 

This ancient entity once showed up in the mortal realm, and possessed power surpassing even that of the devils. However, despite its huge power, it lacked its own summoning formation.

The reason for this was that it was dead. Consumed by me, its core integrated into my being, so the ancient demon summoning formation effectively merged with mine. As a result, any attempt to summon the ancient demon must be triggered by altering my summoning formation.

This unexpected fusion of summoning formations turned out to be a huge win for the cult, giving them a way to tap into demonic power like never before. 

With my summoning formation acting as a conduit, they could tap into the demon realm's energies and channel it towards their goals.

The cult's ambition was to control not just demons, but me as well. By taking advantage of the anomaly inside me, they planned to control both the legendary demon and me.

The audacity never ceased to amaze me. The fact that they could tap into demonic power without going through the hell gates was pretty impressive. 

Plus, the deal I had with the light realm kept me stuck in a neutral position. 

“The ancient one? What's that?" Puriel asked curiously. 

"It's just shadow realm stuff. Nothing for you to worry about," I replied curtly.

"So, this is indeed connected to the shadow realm," she remarked, her gaze piercing through me. 

I met her gaze with a calculated indifference. "They summoned demons, didn't they? It's only logical that it's connected to my realm," I retorted.

"And I'm sure your angels have their own ways of traversing realms," I added.

This made me remember what the ancient demon told me when I was in the trial. He spilled some beans about the angels giving him the boot. No golden ticket for him through heaven's gates. And it got me thinking… if angels could sneak into the mortal realm without a celestial passport, there was gotta be a divine being pulling the strings.

I side-eyed Puriel. ‘Could she be the one?’ I thought. 

Then, a nagging voice in my head piped up.

'Wait a second... this isn't right. This timeline ain't adding up. Something's fishy,' I thought.

My pupils moved side to side. A frown appeared on my forehead. This whole mess was giving me a migraine.

I needed answers, and I needed them fast!

Whether it was Puriel or some other divine dame pulling the strings, I had to get to the bottom of this celestial charade before it spiraled out of control.

"Hey, you okay?" Puriel's voice cut through my thoughts.

I waved off her concern with a casual shrug. "Yeah, just processing some things," I replied nonchalantly.

But my mind continued to race. 

Puriel raised an eyebrow. "So, what's on your mind?" she prodded.

I hesitated. But then, a stubborn streak took over, and I clamped my lips shut. "None of your business," I shot back, my tone sharper than intended.

Puriel's frown deepened, her eyes flashing with annoyance. "You said we're partners in crime, but you don't act like one," she retorted.

She had a point. But old habits die hard, and I couldn't shake the paranoia. After all, we were two different beings, light and dark.
