She Asks for a Divorce Again

Chapter 34: 34 Furious Battle

Chapter 34: Chapter 34 Furious Battle

“Director Shen, are you doing this just because you’ve disliked me for a long time!”

Bai Sheng’er suddenly interrupted her, her voice several decibels higher than usual, showing none of her usual fragility.

Shen Heyu sneered coldly, not expecting her to finally drop the act in front of her. Her body still ached, and her head felt uncomfortably groggy. As she turned to say something, she saw Bai Sheng’er walking toward the edge of the rooftop.

Tears streamed down Bai Sheng’er’s face as if her heart had been greatly wronged. As she walked, she softened her voice and said, “I know Director Shen has never liked me, and perhaps it’s all because of President Pei… but I really don’t know what you’re talking about. You suddenly accosted me with all this; isn’t it just to vent your anger?”

“I’ll fulfill your wish, I’ll jump right now. As long as I’m dead, Director Shen can finally let go of me, right?”

Shen Heyu furrowed her brows tightly.

...

She didn’t really believe Bai Sheng’er would jump; after all, few people truly have the courage to face death.

Yet, as Bai Sheng’er kept walking forward, Shen Heyu, fearing a fatality, stepped up to grab her.

“If you want to die, go somewhere else. By doing this at Pei Group, who are you trying to hurt, President Pei or me?”

She pulled Bai Sheng’er to the side, but her strength was inadequate. In the throes of a high fever, and considering Bai Sheng’er had been deceitful from the start.

“Whimper… I’m just obliging you, Director Shen. Isn’t this what you wanted, to drive me to death? Once I’m gone, nothing will happen…”

Bai Sheng’er said while retreating back towards the edge of the rooftop, her face still wet with tears, looking like a victim of Shen Heyu’s cruelty.

This was the company’s top floor; who knew what state she’d be in if she truly jumped.

Shen Heyu frowned, unable to hold onto her, and finally, her patience ran out. She raised her hand and fiercely slapped Bai Sheng’er across the face.

“What are you playing at? Go die somewhere else. I’m telling you for the last time, stop this act in front of me. I’m not President Pei; I won’t be heartbroken over this.”

“Whimper, President Pei…”

Bai Sheng’er cried out, her gaze shifting beyond Shen Heyu, looking over her shoulder.

Shen Heyu was stunned by the sudden change in her attitude, and before she could react, Pei Yansi rushed from behind and pulled Bai Sheng’er into his arms, holding her tightly.

The tender look on his face sent a pang through Shen Heyu’s heart.

Bai Sheng’er nestled into his chest, sobbing continuously, her slight frame trembling. She occasionally reached to wipe away tears, looking pitiful to any onlooker.

Liu Meng also came over from the side, her surprise tinged with a sense of schadenfreude: “President Pei, see? I knew that Director Shen bringing Shengsheng up here wasn’t for anything good.”

“If we hadn’t arrived just in time, I dare not imagine what might have happened.”

Shen Heyu’s gaze was detached as she observed the scene before her, realizing she had fallen into a trap.

Pei Yansi stroked Bai Sheng’er’s hair while uttering comforting words. When Bai Sheng’er seemed to have calmed down considerably, he turned to look at Shen Heyu.

“You’re getting better and better at doing your job, aren’t you?”

Shen Heyu didn’t reply. The sun was harsh, and she felt terribly uncomfortable, the feeling of dizziness coming over her again. Yet, she clenched her teeth and endured, watching through a hazy vision as Pei Yansi walked away, holding Bai Sheng’er.

As they passed by her, only a cool breeze brushed by her.

Their footsteps faded, and Shen Heyu heard Pei Yansi mention something about a ‘full-body checkup’…

Liu Meng was ready to step forward and throw a few mocking words at her.

This was the plan she and Bai Sheng’er had concocted—use Bai Sheng’er as bait; if President Pei knew someone treated her this way, how could he possibly let her stay at the company?

But unexpectedly, she had only taken two steps forward, her mocking words still unspoken, when she saw Shen Heyu suddenly roll her eyes back and collapse onto the ground.

Liu Meng was startled and squatted down to push her body, “Hey, are you alright?”

The moment her hand touched Shen Heyu, the searing heat of Shen Heyu’s body gave her another shock, and she realized something was wrong—she hurriedly took out her phone to call for emergency medical services.

Her schemes backfired, and in the end, she had to save Shen Heyu’s life!

The more Liu Meng thought about it, the angrier she became. Once she heard the ambulance arrive, she left immediately.

Shen Heyu was soon taken back to the hospital.

Lu Yunlan, who had brought her, had never left. She had intended to wait until Shen Heyu finished her business and then take her back to the hospital to continue the IV therapy, but while waiting, she saw her being taken into an ambulance…

Frowning with worry, Lu Yunlan drove to follow the ambulance to the hospital.

Soon, she arrived at the hospital following the ambulance.

Shen Heyu was admitted for the same symptoms as before, directly taken to her original room, and put back on an IV drip.

Shen Heyu had not yet awakened on the hospital bed. Watching the IV drip slowly fall drop by drop, Lu Yunlan thought she should tell her brother about the situation.

Knowing where Lu Yi’s office was, she left the room, intending to find him.

However, upon exiting, she saw Bai Sheng’er, sobbing in the treatment room not far away, and the doctor who was seriously and concernedly inquiring about her condition.

Pei Yansi, with full concern on his face, stood outside, waiting.

The specialist’s treatment room wasn’t crowded, and seeing this scene, Lu Yunlan sneered inwardly, stepped forward, and deliberately called out, “Oh, isn’t that President Pei?”

Pei Yansi saw her but did not recognize her.

Yet she seemed somewhat familiar to him.

So, he did not speak.

Lu Yunlan introduced herself, and only then did Pei Yansi remember having seen her a few times when Shen Heyu was in university.

His expression remained unchanged, and his tone was indifferent, “Is there something you want?”

Lu Yunlan said cheerfully, “How could anything be wrong? I just wanted to tell President Pei that your wife is hospitalized, still unconscious at that. This person’s illness is all tearful and self-inflicted, really there’s no problem at all, isn’t it just a little fright? Could that kill her?”

“Is it worse than your wife, who is still unconscious?”

Pei Yansi frowned tightly, “Mind your language.”

“What’s wrong with my language? Am I not telling the truth? Miss Innocent here cries every day, but what’s the use of crying, really? How many men can you catch with tears? Besides, if a man can abandon his wife for you, he could also leave you for someone else. I have never seen someone who loves playing the other woman so much.”

Her words were ruthless, with each one deliberately jabbing straight at Bai Sheng’er’s soft spots.

Originally, Bai Sheng’er didn’t feel like crying, but after being told off this way, the tears surged even more. She didn’t retort but instead turned her head towards Pei Yansi outside, crying, “Brother Yan Si…”

Whereas Lu Yunlan was usually a fiery character and couldn’t stand the sight of the delicate, pathetic act of the innocent flower-like woman, she frowned and said coldly, “Mind your form of address. He is a married man; do you have no shame?”

“Shen Heyu was fine, how could she suddenly faint and be hospitalized? I won’t believe it doesn’t have something to do with you; I warn you, if you pull any other moves, I’ll make you regret it!”
