Chapter 22: Chapter 0022: Huo Tingxiao Still Has Profound Skills
“Is everything taken care of? Who handled it?”
“Assistant He.”
The factory manager’s words were like a thunderclap.
Without a doubt, this was Huo Tingxiao’s doing, otherwise He Yan wouldn’t have made a move.
The phone rang again, it was Gu Xiaoman.
“Hello?”
...
“Wow, nicely done, I underestimated you. You resolved it that quickly? Direct video slap in the face, public opinion flipped instantly.”
“It wasn’t me who resolved it.”
“Ah? Not you? Then…”
“Huo Tingxiao.”
Gu Xiaoman paused for a moment, then offered words of comfort.
“Aye, as long as it’s resolved it’s good news, I’ll quickly ask some friends to spread the word, such a quick turnaround is really amazing.”
Mu Lan didn’t fully take in what was said after that, hung up the phone, and was about to leave the factory when she saw a group of workers who had just finished protesting outside the company
“There she is, don’t let her get away.”
“The heartless representative of a wicked company, you’ve lost all humanity, today we demand justice for Xiaoliu.”
With a whoosh, a crowd surged towards her, startling Mu Lan, but in her high heels, there was no way she could outrun these people.
“Everyone, please calm down. The truth of the matter has now come out, I hope you won’t act rashly.”
“I knew it, Xiaoliu is gone, and you, you’re at fault, guys, we can’t let her go.”
Mu Lan was dumbfounded, realizing that these people were not just unreasonable, but downright barbaric.
An idea struck her, and Mu Lan began to play the victim.
“Brothers, I too am just a worker, let’s not infight, I…”
She was violently pushed, and losing her balance, Mu Lan twisted her ankle.
She half-knelt on the ground, unable to get up, sweating from pain.
“Hey, don’t be a scammer!”
Mu Lan really wanted to spit in his face.
Scamming? It was clearly they who were violent, no wonder they could be swayed by that ringleader.
“Beep—” A deliberately prolonged car horn caused the crowd around Mu Lan to instantly split to both sides.
Mu Lan lifted her troubled gaze to the Rolls-Royce she knew all too well; her face flushed with embarrassment.
Huo Tingxiao stepped out of the car, and with each step he took towards her, the intimidating aura made the people around dare not make a move.
Until the ringleader recognized who he was, and his legs went weak.
The others who had not seen him could not help but whisper among themselves, wondering who this person was.
“Not getting up? Picking up money on the ground?”
Huo Tingxiao’s words made Mu Lan wish she could just sink into the earth.
She glared at him, and with great effort, finally stood up, balancing on one foot, clearly injured.
“Today, all workers who participated in the protest, you’re fired. Go to human resources to complete the termination procedures. The company will compensate you three months’ salary according to regulations.”
Fired?
The workers were stunned.
“Who are you? Who gives you the right to fire us just like that?”
“Watch your attitude, this is President Huo.”
Once He Yan said this, everyone looked towards Huo Tingxiao in a dazed state, not expecting that this young man was the legendary big boss.
“Isn’t this too much? What did I do to deserve being fired?”
“Exactly, exactly, we’ve been working in this factory for so many years. To just say we’re fired like that?”
“This is heartless, what kind of wicked company is this.”
Huo Tingxiao pulled Mu Lan behind him, waiting for them to finish their tirade.
“Mr. Huo, wasn’t that a bit too much?”
The chief engineer approached, a smile plastered on his face.
“Too much? Doesn’t Chief Engineer Liu know very well why I did this and for whom?”
Chief Engineer Liu felt a cold sweat breaking out, thinking that the secrecy of his actions should have meant no one knew about them.
“Mr. Huo, I don’t understand what you mean.”
“You don’t understand? Then let me make it very clear to you!
What exactly was the root cause of Wang Xiaoliu’s rule violation, and shouldn’t you explain that clearly to everyone?”
Everyone looked around at each other, completely baffled.
“Chief Liu, what does this mean?”
“It’s… Xiaoliu, he didn’t operate it properly and there was an accident. I thought about his family being alone, orphans and widows, so I asked for more compensation.”
Everybody was stunned when they heard this; they had been told there was an issue with the factory equipment, and had acted out of a sense of justice when they created a scene at the company. How had things changed so quickly…
“Chief Liu, this is no joking matter; this is not what you told us when you approached us.”
“Everyone, stay calm, I… I’ll explain to everyone…”
“How are you going to explain this? We are all about to be fired, and it is so difficult to find jobs now. If we lose our jobs, what will we do with our elderly and children?”
“He won’t care whether you have the elderly or the young to look after. Even if Chief Liu is fired, he will immediately get a job in another factory, he could even become the factory manager.”
These words from He Yan made Chief Liu’s face turn pale, and Mu Lan couldn’t help but widen her eyes in shock.
How had there been such an unexpected turn of events?
So, someone bribed this Chief Liu to cause trouble on purpose?
To do such a despicable deed as eating the bread of the dead, what was he really plotting?
“You… Assistant He, you can’t talk nonsense! Mr. Huo, someone is framing me!”
“Framing? How do you explain the sudden extra one million in your account?”
Seeing that he remained obstinate, He Yan simply laid bare all of his secrets.
“One million? Chief Liu, you’ve lined up a new job for yourself and thrown us under the bus?”
“We all fell for your lies! How can you face Xiaoliu? Isn’t this the same as eating the bread of the dead?”
“You’ve doomed us all; we trusted you so much!”
For a moment, Chief Liu became the target of everybody’s anger. The man who once commanded the highest respect in the factory now looked like a rat crossing the street.
As if each of the twenty-some workers kicked him once, that would suffice to choke him.
Mu Lan felt that today had been quite enlightening; Huo Tingxiao still had profound knowledge and expertise, easily seeing through those with lesser abilities.
Polishing such elaborate strategies beforehand, he must have known the adversary’s intentions from the start.
As for herself… thinking of the foolish things she had done, Mu Lan felt so ashamed she wished she could just vanish into thin air. @@novelbin@@
By the time the workers had finished beating and kicking him, Chief Liu lay swollen like a pig’s head, daring not to move.
“Mr. Huo, I am their squad leader; may I have a chance to say a few words?”
The crowd turned towards the squad leader, apparently having an idea of what he might do.
Huo Tingxiao remained silent, only feeling his sleeve being tugged several times by someone.
Hmph, still in the mood to give oneself away with secret signals?
“Whatever it is, just say it.”
Mu Lan agreed quite smoothly.
Since things had come to this point, she might as well play the saint to the end.
“I hope Mr. Huo can give us a chance. We didn’t understand the situation with Xiaoliu and were instigated by a malicious person, causing trouble for the company.
Therefore, I would like to formally apologize here and hope that you can forgive our rashness,” he said, bowing deeply at a ninety-degree angle.
Seeing this, the others also bowed in turn, seizing the only opportunity they might have to salvage the situation, none of them wanting to lose their livelihoods.
What do you think?
