Chapter 46 - Speculations About This World
Chapter 46: Speculations About This World
Su Mu chuckled and flexed his fingers. “Just learned it.”
That move packed a serious punch—literally. He could feel how much energy it had drained. Even with his current Level 4 strength, if he used it five or six times in a row, he’d probably collapse from exhaustion.
But the power? Definitely worth it. At least now, if he ran into a Ruins Golem again, he had a solid counter.
“Alright, let’s see what we got here.”
He shook out his hands and went to check the loot from the fallen boss.@@novelbin@@
[Scarlet Soil] ×2
[Quality: Rare]
[Sub-attributes: None added]
[Effect: Clean soil suitable for growing various plants, slightly increasing harvest yield.]
[Description: The inner substance of a Ruins Golem. According to legend, these creatures were created to protect the last patches of pure land in a world consumed by fire and destruction.]
The description made Su Mu feel like this world had even deeper layers of history than he’d thought.
The Scarlet Soil itself was a surprising find.
In this world, ordinary land was completely unsuitable for growing plants. It was a post-apocalyptic wasteland—ruins, ashes, and bones stretched as far as the eye could see. Even undead creatures could crawl up from the ground at any moment. With soil like that, farming was impossible.
From what he’d seen on the Corrupted Wasteland map, there were barely any places left where plants could survive.
But with this, he could grow crops inside his shelter. And thanks to the World’s Blessing, he’d even gotten two pieces.
“Once I get my hands on some seeds, I can start planting.”
He stored the soil in the system inventory and turned to check the last two loot drops.
[Ruins Bastion Blueprint] ×2
[Quality: Common]
[Effect: Small-scale defensive wall.]
[Description: Even the smallest bastion in the apocalypse has something it longs to protect.]
The description was poetic, even tragic, but the actual usefulness? Questionable.
It was nothing compared to the Level 1 Stone Brick Wall he’d already set up at the shelter. That thing wasn’t just sturdier—it could be upgraded and covered a much larger area, tailor-made for a shelter Master.
This blueprint, on the other hand, only protected a small space.
“Still, construction blueprints are rare. There aren’t any on the trading market right now.”
“I’ll list them tonight and see if anyone bites.”
That left one final item.
Su Mu picked it up, his eyes narrowing at the strange, white crystal in his palm. It gave off a faint undead aura, but… it didn’t feel entirely like an undead item.
And only one had dropped.
[White Golem Core]
[Note: This is a special item and does not receive the World Blessing.]
[Quality: Unknown]
[Effect: It might be able to bring certain constructs to life.]
[Description: Through research on the undead, the Crimson Clan once created a special core capable of animating constructs.]
Su Mu’s eyes widened.
Had the Crimson Clan that once ruled this wasteland unlocked some bizarre tech tree? They actually managed to create something like this?
Now, he was seriously curious—did they have some kind of otherworldly cybernetic automaton collection?
This was an insane find.
Once the shelter’s protection period ended, all he had to do was find a Ruins Golem—or something similar—install the White Golem Core, and boom.
Instant giant bodyguard. The kind of security that made him want to laugh out loud. But the more he thought about it, the more he felt a sense of unease.
Before the world fell into ruin, the Crimson Clan must have been the absolute rulers of this land. If they could create something like the White Golem Core, then they weren’t just advanced—they were ridiculously advanced.
And yet, they had still vanished.
Now, nothing remained but broken ruins and mindless monsters. Their legacy was nothing but scraps of history. The thought made him pause.
What had destroyed the Crimson Clan?
He glanced at Mu Ran, the small black blade spirit perched on his shoulder.
Ever since turning into a spirit, Mu Ran had said her memories were a mess. But even with the missing pieces, one thing remained clear—she recognized Su Mu as her master.
Understanding this world’s past was the key to surviving in its present.
After finishing the roasted Scarlet Boar King Meat, he instantly felt his stamina replenish.
As the sun dipped toward the horizon, he decided to call it a day.
“Let’s go home.”
Gripping the hilt of the Black Blade, Su Mu set off toward the shelter.
Mu Ran perked up at his words.
Master’s home?
Earlier, she had seen him using a golden bucket to fetch water—didn’t that mean he was insanely rich? Then his house must be a massive, luxurious mansion, right?
But when she actually arrived at the shelter…
She nearly rolled her eyes on the spot.
What do you think?
