Chapter 1404 1404: Strange lock (2)
At the same time, it was as if there was a reaction that came from the corruption energy.
The black dots that had been idle around the door seemed to have sensed something as they suddenly started to move.
When they moved, there was this strange thing that came from the black dots.
It was as if there were tendrils that were coming out of the black dots and in no time at all, they formed actual tendrils that started reaching outwards. It didn't seem like they were reaching for anything in particular at first until they suddenly started coming at me.
With the way that they were all focused on me, it was clear that there was something that I possessed that was attracting them.
Even without thinking about it, I knew exactly what it was.
To be fair, there was only one thing that it could be.
It was the key that I was holding in my hand.
Though in the end, the corruption energy tendrils just weren't able to do anything to me.
Before they could even reach me, there were holy magic attacks that landed on them and started to purify them.
Even if they had gathered themselves to form these tendrils, the corruption energy that was in this place wasn't actually that strong. They had been worn down by the flames filled with divine energy that Joan released, so they were nowhere near strong enough to resist the holy magic.
The holy knights and priests also didn't hold back in releasing their holy magic, sending it down in waves as if they didn't care that they would run out of energy.
These waves of holy magic easily purified the corruption energy tendrils that came out of the walls.
I didn't push forward that quickly as I watched the holy magic fly past me.
I was just waiting for the tendrils of corruption energy to be taken care of first before advancing on the door.
Once the tendrils of corruption energy had been purified, that was when I started moving forward.
After a while, I reached the door.
Though all around me were flashing lights from the tendrils of corruption energy and holy magic clashing with each other. It seemed that the tendrils of corruption energy just wouldn't give up, but the holy knights and priests also didn't stop.
During all of this, I brought the key up to the door and there was this reaction between the two.
There wasn't a need for me to insert the key, just bringing the key close was already enough as a beam of light came out of the key and entered the lock. After that beam of light entered the lock, there was this layer of light that appeared around the lock as well.
This light quickly spread all over the lock and even went on to reach the rest of the door.
It didn't seem like there was anything that was going to stop this light with how it spread.
Soon, the entire door was covered in this light and it didn't seem like this light was just for decoration. When the light was released by the door, it seemed to push back the tendrils of corruption energy as well.
It seemed that this door was some kind of relic, just like my staff and the button. It seemed to release divine energy that could purify the corruption energy around it.
I had already guessed this was the case when it hadn't been affected by the corruption energy around it, but this just proved it.
After releasing this light for a bit, the doors slowly opened.
It seemed that this light that was released was the door's way of making sure that it wasn't being opened by the forces of destruction. The light was strong enough to completely eradicate the corruption energy around it, to the point that the holy knights and priests didn't have to do anything else to take care of it.
After the door opened, a simple room was revealed.
This room didn't have a single thing special about it, it was just a simple room that oddly seemed familiar to me.
I slowly looked back at Aisha and saw that she too had a look that made it seem like she recognized this room.
Seeing this, I knew why it felt familiar to me.
It was because this room was just like the one that I had been trapped in.
When I looked even more closely, I found that this room was even more familiar than I thought. That was because there was a podium that was in the center of the room and it seemed like there was something on it.
This was just like the room that I found the key in.
Only it seemed that the thing that was on the podium was different.
Instead of it being a key, it seemed like it was some kind of box that was there.
There was also a lock that was on this box that was just like the lock that was on the door.
There was no need to guess to know that this box contained the Relic of Destruction that we came here for. Only I couldn't help taking a closer look at the room to see if there were any traces of the corruption energy.
It seemed that there weren't any black dots that were here, but that seemed strange.
The corruption energy had become strong enough that it had escaped this room and had started spreading out over the Democratic Union, so why wasn't there a single trace of it in this room?
The only thing that I could think of was that the door was the thing that had purified the corruption energy.
It wasn't as if the light and divine energy would just be released on one side, right?
It had to have been released on the other side as well, which was there was no corruption energy in the room.
But regardless of what it was, it was time to take care of the Relic of Destruction.
What do you think?
