Vol. 6 Ch. 97
On the border of the Silver Dragon territory, magic clashed and fire lit up the sky.
This battle had already lasted for several hours.
Fortunately, when Leon and Cecilia left a few days earlier, Isha had followed Leon’s instructions and stayed a few extra days with the Silver Dragon Clan. That was the only reason Rosvisser had been able to intercept the Void Realm warriors shortly after they descended.
And just like that damned husband of hers predicted—it worked.
Their enemies didn’t number many, barely under a hundred.
But every single one of them was a top-tier fighter.
Even Sherry and Lilu’s Silver Dragon Guard, fighting alongside them for quite some time, had failed to gain the upper hand despite their numbers and territorial advantage.
Of course, the most troublesome part was the two wielders of special weapons.
One of them was Carl—the same Carl Rosvisser had encountered during her time with the Dwarves.
It had only taken her a short time back then to pierce his staff—capable of manipulating all matter—with her Sacred Spear: Gungnir.
Now he had returned with something new.
Based on the intel gathered during battle, Carl’s new Void weapon ability seemed to be Devour.
That is, any magic-based attack would be absorbed, then merged with Void power and reflected back.
That forced Rosvisser and Isha to rely heavily on physical combat instead.
But that was precisely where the problem lay:
Carl’s companion—his ability was… strange.
After yet another clash, Isha kicked Carl away and retreated, leveraging the momentum to fall back to Rosvisser’s side.
"Did you notice, Rosvisser? That guy’s state is not right."
Rosvisser’s draconic eyes locked onto the man beside Carl. After a moment of thought, she said quietly,
"Yeah. We’ve been fighting for so long, even Carl is starting to show signs of exhaustion.
But that guy beside him? He doesn’t seem tired at all."
Isha wiped the blood from the corner of her lips, the flickering flame of killing intent burning deep in her crimson eyes.
"Not just that. At the start, you and I could barely manage to hold our own against him.
But as the fight drags on, he’s getting more and more dominant."
Isha pursed her lips, took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly.
"If every elite fighter from the Void Realm has some kind of special ability, then I’d guess that guy’s power is something like ‘growing stronger the longer he fights’—
and designed to stall opponents under conditions that favor him."
Because of Carl’s new devouring ability, the Melkvey sisters had no choice but to limit their use of magic and instead relied on hand-to-hand combat.
But physical combat and magic duels were fundamentally different.
Magic attacks were lethal—often capable of ending fights in a single strike.
But physical combat required constant probing, analysis, and waiting for an opening.
If Isha’s guess was correct, then fighting with physical attacks would be a slow and painful road to death for the Melkvey sisters.
Just as they were considering whether to force a retreat, a sudden thunderous wave of energy exploded from the battlefield — a surge of pure white energy radiated above the heads of the Void warriors.
What do you think?
