Simulated Crime, This Criminal Doesn’t Seem to Be Acting

Chapter 53

In the moment she set down her pen, Ye Sangsang's mind wandered through many thoughts. She felt that, perhaps all chess players believed they controlled every move on the board.

Like this invitation to Qiu Lu Mountain Villa, or what Zhong Tongxin was thinking.

Regardless, she would accept this invitation, immersing herself in the game, for their goals were the same.

So she looked at Zhong Tongxin, her eyes carrying just the right measure of humiliation.

Agreeing outright would be too strange, so she opted for silence and humiliation.

"Is she not agreeing?" a girl beside Zhong Tongxin asked, her eyes clearly filled with hostility, as her position as the young mistress's companion might be in jeopardy.

Zhong Tongxin's expression exuded pride, and she sneered, "She will agree."

To her, simply stating it was enough; she didn't need Ye Sangsang's consent.

"Indeed, she wouldn't refuse, haha," the girl said with malicious glee, thinking of something.

Ye Sangsang picked up her pen and continued writing, showing no intention to engage further.

In her heart, she was merely curious about this trip to Qiu Lu Mountain Villa.

It gave her the feeling that Zhong Tongxin had indeed succeeded in her own demise.

Perhaps she still believed she was the one in control, exploiting Ye Sangsang.

As for serving the Zhong Family, that much was true. Qiao Feng's school had partial funding from the Zhong Family, and Lin Yu worked in a private hospital owned by the Zhong Family.

Both relied on the Zhong Family for their livelihoods.

Yet both were too impotent to switch careers, trapped and forced to sacrifice their daughter, Ye Sangsang, to crawl upwards.

Ye Sangsang found it hard to critique.

Hopefully, in reality, they would feel the devastation of their actions.

Feeling Lin Ying's vengeful spirit rise, she had killed five people and wouldn't allow the accomplices to live in peace.

Ye Sangsang reined in her thoughts and began contemplating how to act at Qiu Lu Mountain Villa.

The next two days passed in an unsettling calm, like the quiet before a storm.

Learning the destination was Qiu Lu Mountain Villa, both the Zhou and Zhong families approved of the trip.

As Zhong Tongxin had said, she dispatched someone to fetch Ye Sangsang and provided a maid's attire.

Ye Sangsang obediently changed into the clothes and set off for Qiu Lu Mountain Villa.

The villa usually had staff on hand, and Ye Sangsang, among a group of four, was assigned to serve only Zhong Tongxin.

They had to bring everything for daily needs, even though their stay was only four days, a holiday respite.

The other maids were aware of Ye Sangsang's purpose and Zhong Tongxin's intentions.

So they heaped extra tasks on her, forcing her to humble herself in service to Zhong Tongxin.

Ye Sangsang accepted it all, using the busyness to sketch out the general layout of the entire Qiu Lu Mountain Villa.

Built around a hot spring, the villa consisted of separate villas, with a small lake on the mountain, surrounded by a golf course and various structures nestled among the forests, offering fresh air and a picturesque view.

Upon arrival, Ye Sangsang chose the plainest attire and followed Zhong Tongxin, enduring introductions and disdainful looks, all meant to highlight Zhong Tongxin's radiance and elegance.

Sometimes Ye Sangsang thought they were utterly perverse.

Several people had come, mainly from the same social circle.

Ye Sangsang's gaze drifted to a corner, where Zhou Qingyue sat alone in a black suit. He held a book with a black cover, not reading it, his eyes fixed on the surrounding dusk.

The cover featured a bloodied dagger, exuding an ominous aura.

Zhong Tongxin should be heading towards him.

What had come before was just incidental entertainment; now was the main purpose.

Ye Sangsang mused.

Sure enough, the next moment, Zhong Tongxin disdainfully glanced at Ye Sangsang, sneering, "Follow me, I'm going to see Zhou Qingyue."

"Alright," Ye Sangsang replied, her tone carrying a hint of something else.

Zhong Tongxin narrowed her eyes, scrutinizing Ye Sangsang. "Put away your filthy thoughts. Standing with us, you only pollute the air."

Ye Sangsang lowered her eyes, masking her impatience.

Sometimes, excessive self-assurance seemed like a delusion.

[Sangsang: I just want to go over and observe.]

[Lin Ying, such a ruthless person, wouldn't like bullies. She doesn't have Stockholm syndrome.]

[Laughable, does Zhong Tongxin think they have such immense charm? Being with people like her only makes you feel the air is full of stink.]

Zhong Tongxin, seeing Ye Sangsang's submissive demeanor, quickly made her way towards Zhou Qingyue, while Ye Sangsang followed leisurely, holding the wine glass Zhong Tongxin didn't want.

Standing there, they indeed looked like a perfect pair.

Though there was a hidden insult in that statement, for they really did complement each other.

Zhong Tongxin leaned against Zhou Qingyue's chair, whispering something to him, causing him to glance at Ye Sangsang.

His dark eyes revealed no emotion.

Ye Sangsang kept her gaze lowered, finding it rather dull.

"I said it, Qingyue. People like Lin Ying exude a cheap aura," Zhong Tongxin teased.

Zhou Qingyue remained noncommittal, his gaze deepening slightly as he smirked, "Sometimes, for us, people like her are more interesting, aren't they?"

Zhong Tongxin's face lit up with a malicious grin. "Indeed. Toying with them is like playing with a ragged doll—vulnerable and disordered, tempting to destroy. Occasionally indulging in such toys is harmless."

Her smile gradually turned into a satisfied smirk. Bringing Ye Sangsang along hadn't been a spur-of-the-moment decision, but a deliberate one.

She knew Zhou Qingyue had once paid attention to her, and she couldn't allow that to continue.

So she chose to taint Ye Sangsang, knowing Zhou Qingyue's aversion to filth.

She wanted him to see Ye Sangsang as utterly unworthy and impoverished, cutting off any lingering thoughts Zhou Qingyue might have, shifting his attention to her.

Such prideful scions as Zhou Qingyue wouldn't allow themselves to look at someone as base as Ye Sangsang.

Only those from similar backgrounds could stand beside him.

Her goal achieved, she smiled with satisfaction.

Ye Sangsang remained silent, her slight, slender frame looking even more fragile in the evening breeze. Yet within that delicate body, a fiery heart beat, one that sought to warm her blood.

Days without the chance to act were utterly boring.

The three contemplated their own thoughts, maintaining an uneasy harmony.

Zhong Tongxin disliked Ye Sangsang and, after one more circuit of orders, quickly grew weary, dismissing Ye Sangsang.

Ye Sangsang returned to her room, originally meant for two, but the other maid chose to share with a colleague rather than stay with her.

Perhaps she had heard something from the bodyguards or Zhong Tongxin, feeling wary of Ye Sangsang.

Ye Sangsang didn't mind. She stood by the window, contemplating what surprise to offer them at Qiu Lu Mountain Villa.

Pondering, she had little to show, only a vague intuition, deciding to stay still for now.

Some, it seemed, might be eager to act...

The villa and its surroundings were brimming with surveillance, and without previous inside guidance, she needed to observe and evade the cameras herself.

These observations were still necessary.

Clearly infatuated with Zhou Qingyue, Zhong Tongxin changed into more mobile attire and ventured out. Only at around 11 p.m. did she return to the villa, summoning everyone.

Ye Sangsang stepped out, seeing Zhong Tongxin sprawled on the sofa, her speech slurred.

A cup of water was thrust into her hands. Ye Sangsang examined the lemonade and walked over to offer it to Zhong Tongxin.

"You have to carefully tilt the cup to feed Miss Zhong," a maid said, directing her actions with a condescending glare.

Ye Sangsang held the cup, pouring into Zhong Tongxin’s slightly open mouth.

Zhong Tongxin, soon overflowing, coughed noisily. Ye Sangsang quietly sat beside her, watching.

She opened her eyes, staring at Ye Sangsang, squinting.

Ye Sangsang's gaze was deep and indifferent, seemingly scrutinizing her, yet also like a stare frozen in time.

“Scoundrel!” she instinctively cursed.

Ye Sangsang looked at her, her expression instantly returned to normal, and she looked at her with some confusion.

Zhong Tongxin covered her head and shook her head, feeling like she was hallucinating.

The maid thought that Ye Sangsang would certainly obey and left after speaking.

Ye Sangsang handed her a glass of water, but Zhong Tongxin, remembering something, her eyes flashed with caution, and she directly slapped Ye Sangsang's hand, knocking the glass out of her hand.

The glass fell on the expensive carpet with a dull sound. Zhong Tongxin reached out and viciously clutched Ye Sangsang's neck, “You’re not going to steal Zhou Qingyue from me. You’re always a lower person, don’t even think about climbing up.”

As she muttered, she pressed Ye Sangsang onto the sofa, using both hands to strangle her.

“What are you mad about!” Ye Sangsang grabbed her hands, frowned, and forcibly pushed her hands apart.

The other party was using a lot of force in her madness. If it weren’t for her having a high physical attribute of 10, she might have been strangled to death.

There was surveillance in the villa’s living room, so Ye Sangsang didn’t slap her when no one was around, merely pushing her away, assuming Zhong Tongxin was drunk.

Suddenly, as Zhong Tongxin walked past a shattered glass on the ground, Ye Sangsang happened to be quietly watching her.

Zhong Tongxin went crazy, roaring at Ye Sangsang.

As Ye Sangsang watched her madness, she sensed something was off.

【Feels like Zhong Tongxin is teetering on the edge of self-destruction.】

【Does she really think that others wouldn’t resist until death?】

【Judging from the environment, it seems they’re used to everything revolving around them.】

The other party struggled for half an hour before being helped back to her room by another maid.

As they passed a porcelain vase in the living room, the vase suddenly shattered.

Zhong Tongxin looked at it, then at Ye Sangsang.

Ye Sangsang: …

Zhong Tongxin was placed on a soft bed, and as she fell asleep, Ye Sangsang and the other person turned and left.

It was too risky to act here, Ye Sangsang needed to think of another way.

The lights in the room were turned off, leaving only the bedside lamp on.

After closing the door, Zhong Tongxin held her throbbing forehead, rolled once on the bed, and felt a surge of irritability.

It was as if she was sinking into an endless darkness, and within that darkness, someone was calling her name.

She was familiar with this voice, but her mind was muddled, and she couldn’t remember who it was.

She only heard the voice repeating phrases like "It’s so dark," "It’s so cold," "Save me," "Don’t…"

She also felt a chill creeping over her, clutching herself tightly.

After an unknown amount of time, she realized who the voice belonged to.

She opened her eyes and whispered, “Lin Ying?”

At that moment, from the darkness, came a ghostly echo, repeating the same phrases from her dream.

Zhong Tongxin screamed and woke up again.

She patted her forehead, feeling an intense emptiness and discomfort, realizing she had just had a nightmare.

She sat up.

Suddenly, a picture frame fell from the wall with a loud crash.

“Ah!” she truly screamed.

Hearing her voice, the bodyguards rushed into the room, turned on the lights, and looked at the person on the bed.

The sudden brightness made Zhong Tongxin instinctively close her eyes. Seeing the frame lying at the foot of her bed, she harbored a trace of ruthlessness in her eyes.

Ye Sangsang!

She wanted to get rid of her!

In that instant, her mind was filled only with this thought.

The two bodyguards were startled by Zhong Tongxin’s actions, then watched as she quickly got out of bed, asking where Ye Sangsang lived.

After getting the answer, she looked at the two men, “The other day when you buried her, you confirmed that she didn’t move at all, right? You buried her and then left?”

“Yes.”

“We confirmed that she didn’t move at all, and we buried the body properly.”

The bodyguards didn’t know who was in the sack, only following Zhong Tongxin’s orders to bury what they assumed was a corpse.

They thought the matter was over, but unexpectedly, she brought it up again today.

After hearing their confirmation, Zhong Tongxin’s expression grew even more vicious.

She quickly went downstairs, stormed into Ye Sangsang’s room, grabbed her shoulders, and shook her fiercely, her expression extremely grim.

“You were buried in the ground, how could you crawl out? You should be dead, why are you still here? Are you a ghost seeking revenge?!” She glared at Ye Sangsang, her movements violent.

Sometimes Ye Sangsang wondered why the other party was so paranoid. Wasn’t she always quite justified in her actions?

Before Ye Sangsang could react, two bodyguards rushed into the room from outside.

They clearly had heard the commotion, their eyes filled with confusion and shock.

Zhong Tongxin’s eyes were bloodshot as she pointed at her, “Tie her up!”

Ye Sangsang’s eyes were filled with panic and fear, looking at Zhong Tongxin like a terrified rabbit.

Zhong Tongxin stared at Ye Sangsang, leaned close to her ear, and said in a hoarse, venomous voice, “I’m going to dig up that grave. Since you didn’t die, let me bury you again!”

【Woc, she’s completely insane.】

【Is Zhong Tongxin’s brain okay?】

【This is manslaughter! How crazy is she? Zhong Tongxin’s madness is a bit strange, is it because she drank too much?】

The audience was shocked by her madness, and some noticed something was off.

Ye Sangsang’s eyes widened as she was bound tightly by the bodyguards and loaded into a car.

The distance to the other villa was about two kilometers. The bodyguards drove her there, while another bodyguard kept an eye on her in the back seat.

Throughout the journey, Zhong Tongxin continued to rant madly, insisting on finding the pit they had dug and burying Ye Sangsang in it once more.

The bodyguard next to Ye Sangsang whispered in her ear, his voice very low, “Cooperate, we won’t really kill you. We’re just going along with the young lady.”

In plain sight of many watching, if Ye Sangsang were to be taken away and killed, even the Zhong Family, with all their influence, wouldn’t escape the scrutiny of the police.

The bodyguards were just doing their jobs. They didn’t want to be charged with murder—that could mean at least a decade in prison, or even death.

Burying a corpse might only lead to a year or two, and the Zhong Family paid generously to motivate them. Even if they were caught eventually, there would be compensation.

Hearing this, Ye Sangsang’s gaze fell on Zhong Tongxin.

“Don’t you think Miss Zhong is acting a bit off? It shouldn’t be about going along with her, but rather taking her to the hospital,” Ye Sangsang spoke with just the right tone, subtly reminding the enablers.

She was hinting that Zhong Tongxin was currently extremely unstable and might not be so easily tricked.

The bodyguard in the backseat’s eyes darted, seemingly also realizing the absurdity of the situation. He pulled out his phone and dialed Zhong Tongxin’s father.

Ye Sangsang turned her head to gaze out the window where a light rain was falling.

It seemed to be raining recently. Was it because the rain made killing more fitting?

The bodyguard’s call was clearly overheard by Zhong Tongxin. She immediately glared at the driver, “What does Lin Ying count for? If you dare listen to her, I’ll have you all kicked out of the Zhong Family.”

But the backseat bodyguard clearly held some authority and, despite the warning, made the call anyway.

The call was quickly answered. After explaining the situation, the backseat bodyguard listened carefully, nodding repeatedly and promising to follow through immediately.

Zhong Tongxin was furious, trembling with rage and madness. She abruptly reached out and started grabbing the driver’s steering wheel.

In the dark car environment, Ye Sangsang smiled without restraint.

The backseat bodyguard hurriedly ended the call and attempted to control Zhong Tongxin.

But in the eyes of a drunk lunatic, the more you forbade something, the more she would go crazy trying to do it.

The car swerved violently on the winding downhill road, with the bodyguard struggling to hit the brakes while Zhong Tongxin’s half her body was leaning over him. He had to watch the road ahead while controlling the steering wheel, all while trying not to hurt Zhong Tongxin, making the situation extremely precarious.

With the light rain making visibility poor, the car’s situation became immediately dangerous.

“Hit the brakes!” the backseat bodyguard shouted loudly.@@novelbin@@

The driver panicked and tried to stomp on the brake, but in his fluster, he missed and instead pressed the gas.

With Zhong Tongxin fighting for the wheel, the car veered toward the edge of the road.

At the last moment, the driver instinctively turned the steering wheel sharply in the opposite direction. Zhong Tongxin, sitting in the passenger seat, became the most direct victim of the impending collision, about to slam into the stone embankment.

Just in time, the backseat bodyguard reached out and grabbed the steering wheel, giving it an extra yank to pull it back.

The car scraped past a stone pillar and started heading in another direction.

Zhong Tongxin seemed to have realized the danger as well and began to slowly retract her body, gradually loosening her grip on the steering wheel that she had been trying to grab earlier.

They swerved sharply, and the tires screeched against the road.

The car became eerily quiet, and Zhong Tongxin's eyes betrayed a mixture of confusion and terror.

Ye Sangsang noticed a faint white light ahead and said, "Miss Zhong, stop fighting and let's go to the hospital!"

Zhong Tongxin, who had always been resentful of Ye Sangsang, unconsciously tightened her grip on the steering wheel again upon hearing this.

The driver in the front, noticing her actions, let the car continue without braking.

When the car was engulfed in white light, the driver instinctively turned the wheel.

Zhong Tongxin, in the passenger seat, slammed head-on into the oncoming obstacle. The violent impact caused the car to deform drastically, and the deployed airbags were rendered useless in the twisted wreckage.

Ye Sangsang hit the back of the front seat and felt a dizzying pain rushing through her head.

Thanks to her position directly behind the passenger seat, which was the safest spot in the car, she only felt intense pain but still had the strength to move.

Coming to her senses, her gaze fell upon Zhong Tongxin, who was unconscious, covered in blood on her head and body.

She watched the deformed backseat and managed to pull herself out through the gaps.

Her slim figure proved advantageous at that moment as she struggled to free herself from the wreckage and began untying the nylon ropes binding her hands.

After a brief struggle, she undid the not-so-tight ropes.

Once free, she flexed her limbs slightly, feeling the driver's phone by her side. She picked it up, holding it tightly, and tried to open the car door.

"Click"

The good news was the door opened.

The bad news was, only slightly — just a crack.

And she could smell gasoline wafting through her nostrils.

Realizing the danger, Ye Sangsang pushed fiercely against the door.

On the other side, the driver of the oncoming vehicle noticed Ye Sangsang and helped pull the door open, creating a gap wide enough for two palms.

Ye Sangsang struggled to squeeze through the gap, her gaze meeting the young driver's face. She said weakly, "The car’s on fire, the fuel’s leaking—you should run."

The driver hesitated but reached out and forcefully pulled Ye Sangsang.

Ye Sangsang continued to squeeze out, eventually getting out of the car just as the smell of gasoline grew more intense.

The driver in the front seat woke up and began to struggle out as well, as did the bodyguard in the back.

They were strong and managed to squeeze out with much difficulty.

Coincidentally, Zhong Tongxin also regained consciousness.

However, she was the focal point of the accident. Not only was she trapped, but her multiple fractures made it impossible for her to muster any strength.

She ordered the two bodyguards to save her, her expression twisting with pain and fury.

"Don't you want to live? Hurry up and save me! Or the Zhong Family will make sure you can't survive in this city..." Her voice transitioned from bullying to crumbling into pleading.

"Please, save me... Ah! There's fire... Save me!"

She was desperate because flames had already started to lick the front of the car.

With the gasoline acting as fuel, the fire spread rapidly.

"Ahhhhh, it hurts... I... it hurts so much... Ahhhhh..."

As soon as the bodyguards got out, the flames quickly engulfed the passenger compartment, and Zhong Tongxin's screams of agony filled the quiet road.

The shrill cries echoed down the lonely path, sending shivers down everyone's spines.

Thinking about how they narrowly escaped the same fate, the bodyguards shuddered, also worried about the repercussions from the Zhong Family if Zhong Tongxin died.

Ye Sangsang watched coldly as Zhong Tongxin wailed in excruciating pain, their gaze locking amid the crescendo of her agony.

Ye Sangsang calmly pulled out her phone and dialed the traffic police.

The fire trucks arrived four minutes later—quite timely, especially here on the mountain road and at midnight. Four minutes was the best they could do under the circumstances.

But for those trapped in the inferno, those four minutes felt like several lifetimes, long enough to extinguish any hope of survival.

Ye Sangsang stood there, silently observing the firefighters put out the blaze and carry Zhong Tongxin onto the ambulance.

Perfect timing, location, and circumstances—such a flawless scenario.

No one would suspect this as a premeditated murder, because everything seemed to be the victim's own doing, driven by her own actions.

Ye Sangsang admitted she couldn't be that ruthless.

No, the case wasn't hers.

She couldn't commandeer a delivery truck to drive up the mountain in the middle of the night.

Originally she was uncertain, but it became clear when the truck driver specifically found her and saved her, while the bodyguards never lent a hand, even as the other man rolled out.

Kind people, even at risk, would instinctively reach out.

Not those with a strong ulterior motive, saving only her.

Of course, that wasn't due to her charm.

Ye Sangsang and the others waited, and they were all eventually taken to the police station.

Such an unexpected event warranted questioning to rule out intentionality.

Ye Sangsang narrated everything truthfully, even looking confused herself about why Zhong Tongxin suddenly decided to wrestle with the steering wheel recklessly.

Her suggestion to go to the hospital was reasonable, as Zhong Tongxin was a drunken mess, following a drunk’s whims seemed absurd, especially when it involved personal safety.

The bodyguards also seemed innocent; their actions were normal, and if not for the sudden appearance of the truck, they wouldn't have crashed.

Yan Xiyu and Zhang Qian arrived, as Zhong Tongxin’s accident affected their little group.

They learned from the bodyguards about Ye Sangsang's first attempt at being buried alive.

Zhang Qian sat opposite Ye Sangsang, her expression grave. "Why didn't you mention this before? It's evidence of their bullying."

I was afraid; my parents didn't want me to say anything," Ye Sangsang said, looking down, her voice filled with grief.

Yan Xiyu frowned. "Do you remember where it happened?"

"It was in the middle of our descent, about four to five hundred meters inside the forest, there should still be the ropes and bag." She honestly recounted the location.

Zhang Qian sighed. "You'll take us there tomorrow during the day. Now, tell us everything that happened tonight, don't leave out any details."

Ye Sangsang obediently nodded, adding to her account about the invitation to the Qiu Lu Mountain Villa out of malice.

There were cameras for that, school surveillance with audio.

She told everything else in detail, including her entire escape from the vehicle, faking a few hesitations throughout.

After all, as a fifteen-year-old girl, she should still be shaken.

Zhang Qian and Yan Xiyu listened, their brows furrowing, the events seeming both wildly irrational and logically plausible.

It was set off by Zhong Tongxin's recklessness, but otherwise, this could have been avoided entirely.

This appeared to be a case driven by guilt, a self-fulfilling prophecy.

When the questioning ended and they were walking out, the Zhong couple rushed in, angrily berating the two bodyguards and threatening to send them to jail.

The bodyguards remained silent, defiant in their hearts.

Ye Sangsang was escorted out by Zhang Qian, protected from potential retribution as a victim of their daughter.

The only surprise Ye Sangsang had was Zhong Tongxin's survival despite being burned so badly, at 90% total body burn.

But Lin Yu's news was that death was imminent. Based on their information, Zhong Tongxin's burning was too severe, severe enough that flesh and blood had been severely burned away, likely leading to infection that was irrecoverable, barely hanging onto life.

Ye Sangsang was surprised when, despite all this, Zhong Tongxin requested a meeting with her.

So, right after returning home, she was taken to the hospital.

For everyone, her consent wasn't necessary.

In the private hospital room devoid of others, Ye Sangsang stood by Zhong Tongxin's bedside.

Zhong Tongxin now looked horrific; lying on an expensive burn treatment bed, what was visible of her burnt skin revealed blackened and charred flesh, the room filled with the smell of burnt meat and antiseptic.

Plastic tubes for life support were her only tether to existence, removing even one would result in her death within minutes.

“My family… I will… as a ghost… never… let… you… off…” Zhong Tongxin could barely form a complete syllable, but upon seeing Ye Sangsang, her eyes burst with intense hatred.

She believed that everything stemmed from Ye Sangsang, a person who had crawled back from the depths of hell, placing a curse on her.

Now that she was dying, she wanted to tell Ye Sangsang that she would never have peace.

Or perhaps, there was another meaning: if she could become a ghost, she would find a way to kill Ye Sangsang.

Ye Sangsang frowned as she looked at her. “You couldn’t kill me when you were alive; do you think you can as a ghost? Logically speaking, you should be stronger as a human.”

【Hahaha, so true.】

【Becoming a ghost equals becoming stronger?】

【So vicious, I love it.】

She noticed the inconspicuous recording device nearby but still chose to speak. No one shows mercy to their enemy unless they are not human.

Saying something less harsh for those people didn’t really matter.

Zhong Tongxin’s scorched face was filled with viciousness.

Ye Sangsang stepped forward, leaned close to her ear, and whispered a few words so softly that only Zhong Tongxin could hear.

“Beep… beep… beep…”

The alarm from the monitoring machine sounded, and the nurses rushed into the room.

Ye Sangsang took a few steps back, watching Zhong Tongxin’s eyes filled with disbelief and pain.

Sadly, Zhong Tongxin was already at the end of her strength and couldn’t speak the words Ye Sangsang had told her, gradually passing away during the resuscitation efforts.

The Zhong Family parents didn’t enter but stood at the door, watching Ye Sangsang.

Ye Sangsang’s gaze fell on Zhou Qingyue behind them, her eyes revealing the usual apprehension, her fingers slightly tightening, expressing tension and excitement.

This was what the other party wanted to see.

In her eyes, Zhou Qingyue showed no sadness over the death of his childhood friend; he stood silently, his gaze on Ye Sangsang as coldly and loftily as ever.

Ye Sangsang turned and left, as the rest of the matters no longer required her involvement.

The death of the other party was not her responsibility.

As the mission briefing had indicated, Zhong Tongxin’s death would be ruled an accident.

A scenario where Zhong Tongxin, drunk and intent on harming someone, was lured by Lin Ying into a fall from a cliff.

Lin Ying and Ye Sangsang both played the role of victims in the car accident, pushing Zhong Tongxin into the accident and creating the perfect crime, making it seem as though she brought it upon herself.

Lin Ying and Ye Sangsang were merely the facilitators of the event, or perhaps, tools.

Zhou Qingyue, however, was the invisible hand guiding everything.

What a terrifying enemy.

Masterminding the entire operation, orchestrating the events, and making Lin Ying, the pawn, deeply involved, continuously propelled to carry out the plan.

Next, it would be Lin Ying’s turn to enter the detention center, only to emerge and turn the tables on the other party.

The first half of this scenario marked the beginning of the end for the one in control, Zhou Qingyue, to wind down his game. The second half would see Lin Ying break free from the game and carry out a counter-kill.

Now, Ye Sangsang merely had to wait, wait for the other party to officially kick off this grand play.

She believed it wouldn’t be long.

She was ready to accept the challenge.
