Chapter 635 635: 634: Stunned
(Some minutes prior)
Seated in front of the Evolution Center were numerous scouts of the elite organizations of the universe.
These scouts were either watching the battles that were occurring in the Amphitheater or talking with one another to keep themselves busy.
However, if there was one thing that all scouts had in common, it was that they were all on the lookout for Corey.
Each scout would at usual intervals glance at the doors of the Evolution Center.
They had spent more than a month in front of the Evolution Center, and if not for the fear they had of the organizations that hired them, and the rewards they were getting for being a scout, they would have abandoned their duties a long time ago.
On this particular day, the scouts were going about their business as usual but then a particular scout noticed a difference in the Evolution Center.
The doors to the Evolution Center began to open slowly, and then each scout began to notice the opening of the doors.
A strange tension filled the air as they waited for Corey to step out of the Evolution Center. However, as the doors of the Evolution Center began to open, a dense fog began to pour out from the opening doors of the Evolution Center.
The scouts did not find it strange that there was a dense fog pouring out from the doors of the Evolution Center. Instead, it felt like a grand opening to a priceless treasure.
As the scouts and those hidden waited with breaths of anticipation, some began to notice that something was wrong.
"Hey, isn't the fog getting too much?"
"Exactly, is it meant to be this dense? I can barely see my hands and feet."
"Should we leave?"
"But what of our target?"
"Maybe we-"
Thud
Thud
Thud
The scouts began wobbling with a dazed expression, and in the next three seconds, they began dropping like flies as they fell into a deep sleep.
Step
Step
Footsteps echoed in the vicinity of the Evolution Center, and Corey walked out of the Evolution Center with a calm and indifferent expression.
He glanced at the bodies for a second before he looked away.
'I guess I was lucky that there were no Tier 5s amongst them. I doubt the poison would have worked on Tier 5s... However...'
Corey shifted his gaze to his left, and he furrowed his brows slightly.
'Six Tier 5s are coming... I can even sense the presence of a Tier 6 that's approaching this place, although he or she is far away.'
Corey looked away, 'I should leave.'
Corey took in a deep breath, and the moment he did, his presence in the environment completely vanished.
Breath of Omniscience
Corey used Breath of Omniscience to completely erase his presence, and then he began jogging.
Ten seconds after Corey left the Evolution Center, the Tier 6 landed at the exact spot Corey had been before he left. His appearance completely dispelled the fog that was filled with a sleeping poison.
The Tier 6's eyes were filled with bafflement and shock as he looked around. His eyes glowed as he tried to look for any traces of Corey.
"Where is he?"
The moment the Tier 6 said these words, the six Tier 5s appeared before the Tier 6 with extremely wary expressions.
Despite the fact that they were closer to the Evolution Center, the Tier 6 was still able to reach the Evolution Center before them.
However, and to their relief, their target was nowhere to be seen.
'We're lucky. This mad man would have kidnapped the target first so that none of us would be able to talk to him.'
'Every single individual from the Martial Clan are all brutes.'
This were the thoughts in the minds of the Tier 5s as they stood before the Tier 6 whose expression was beginning to transform into one of anger as he looked at the sleeping scouts.
"WAKE UP YOU FOOLS AND FIND HIM!"
The Tier 6 from the Martial Clan shouted while infusing his mystic energy and force into his voice to dispel the effects of Corey's sleeping poison.
The scouts scrambled to their feet with a fearful expression, and without wasting a single second, they ran and began using their skills to look for Corey.
"I DON'T CARE WHICH ORGANIZATION HIRED YOU! YOU MUST FIND HIM IN THE NEXT TWO MINUTES!"
"NO MATTER WHAT!"
As the scouts did their best to look for Corey, Corey looked back and shook his head.
"Seems like that Tier 6 has a bad temper. I wonder what organization he's from."
Corey looked around, and then he jumped to the roof of the nearest building. Because of the Battle of Chosens, the number of people that were outside the Amphitheatre were so few to the point that Corey never encountered another individual besides the scouts.
He sat on the roof, and then he looked around with a pondering expression.
"I'm guessing I should meet up with Divine as quickly as possible since he knows more than I do. He might be able to fend off everybody that's after me or he might have a solution."
"He's probably in the Amphitheatre but I should message him just in case."
Corey tapped his U-Watch and sent a message to Divine, asking him of his whereabouts. Just as he was about to close his U-Watch, he heard a beep from it.
"So fast?"
Corey looked at his U-Watch, and when he saw the sender, he frowned.
"Kiefer? Why's he sending me a message?"
Corey mumbled, but the moment he read the message, his expression froze.
[Mister, the Old Man is in trouble!]
[Where are you?!]
Without hesitation, Corey dashed towards the Amphitheatre with his fastest speed. He used the Lightning Movement Art to increase his speed.
'Master... Nothing must happen to you.'
As Corey ran, he suddenly recalled that he was no longer the Tier 2 he used to be.
He was a Demi-Paragon with an awakened Void Phoenix Heart.
Corey's eyes turned pure white the moment he remembered this, and without slowing down his movement even a little bit, he teleported to the entrance of the Amphitheater.
The guards at the entrance of the Amphitheatre were shaken and frightened by Corey's appearance, but Corey did not even stop for even a second.
His body continued his previous motion and he dashed past the guards while leaving a trail of lightning.
'Which path? How do I get to the arena?!'
The stars in Corey's mind flared brightly as they worked to make out the path that led to the arena, but before his Stars of Consciousness figured out the way, Corey noticed a gold line appear in front of him.
He was stunned at first, but then he instinctively knew what it was.
'Eyes of True Judgement?'
Corey did not waste time to ponder on this thought, and without hesitation, he followed the golden line.
Approximately seven seconds later, Corey appeared in one of the Vomitoriums of the Amphitheatre. His eyes instantly landed on the arena, and he saw his Master getting stabbed in the heart before he fell face flat into the ground.
Corey froze with his eyes wide open and his mind in disarray.
"Master?"
