Chapter 180 Evelina's Shot
Evelina carefully adjusted her stance, her sharp eyes scanning the battlefield. She wasn't aiming at the king directly but at a point further away, plotting her trajectory with meticulous precision.@@novelbin@@
"What are you doing?" Asher asked, watching her intently.
"Isn't that obvious?" Evelina replied with a smirk as she released the arrow. It streaked through the air with flawless accuracy. "Providing support."
"That's great," Rosa sighed in relief as she watched the arrow connect, creating a small opening for Jett. "At least he's not doing it alone."
From their vantage point on the castle walls, the group watched with mixed expressions. The clash between Jett and the Vond king was fierce, every strike and counter reverberating through the air. Despite Evelina's timely assistance, doubt lingered in their hearts as they observed the immense power of the king.
"He's strong, but can Jett really keep this up?" Cedric asked nervously.
Evelina, undeterred, loosed another arrow. Her movements were fluid, each shot perfectly aligned with Jett's attacks. It was as if the two of them were reading each other's minds, moving in harmony to corner their opponent.
"If they keep this up, they'll end the trial in no time," Finn said, his optimism lifting the group's spirits slightly.
"Don't jinx it," Elora muttered, her eyes narrowing.
Suddenly, the tide shifted. Jett was flung violently through the air, landing with a bone-crushing thud.
"What just happened?" Freya exclaimed, worry flashing across her face.
"You just had to say it huh? Wise guy?" Elora quipped at Finn.
Even Evelina, with her keen sight, couldn't make sense of what had transpired. She bit her lip in frustration, trying to piece together what went wrong. 'Was that some kind of trick?' she thought. 'I need to back him up.'

[Explosive Shot]
Evelina released her next arrow, this time with a powerful explosive payload. As it streaked toward the king, Jett did the unthinkable, he leapt forward and intercepted it mid-flight.
"What is he doing?!" Freyaa yelled in shock.
The arrow detonated in Jett's hand, sending a blinding burst of flames and smoke across the battlefield. The force of the explosion sent him flying backward, his body skidding across the ground.
Evelina froze, her bow trembling slightly in her grip. "Why… why would he do that?" she whispered, barely audible.
Jett slowly pushed himself up, coughing from the impact. "Still alive," he muttered with a pained grin, forcing his battered body to stand again. "Don't count me out yet."
The group watched, their hearts pounding as they realized Jett wasn't out of the fight yet, despite the odds stacked against him.
Evelina's gaze stayed locked on Jett, her thoughts racing as she tried to piece together his actions. 'Was he under some kind of mind control? Why would he put himself in that kind of danger?' Her grip on her bow tightened. "Now he won't last long," she muttered, worry creeping into her voice.
"Doesn't he have a way to heal himself?" Cedric asked, scratching his head in confusion.
"He's probably waiting for the perfect time to heal," Matthew suggested, trying to remain optimistic.
Freya shook her head, her face pale with concern. "The fact that he hasn't healed with magic means he's low on mana. Aura can strengthen the body but not fix it, and Jett surprisingly doesn't have a healing skill."
The group's collective shock was palpable. "No healing skill? Not even a minor one?" Matthew asked incredulously.
Freya nodded grimly. "I'm his roommate. If he has a skill that can heal him" she added air quotes around the word heal "it's not specifically made for that purpose. It's probably not very effective."
"The fact that he looks like that, still tanking everything, means he's likely using a mix of Aura, Lumix, or maybe a skill," Freya added, her worry mounting.
"Or all of them," Rey interjected, his eyes narrowing as he focused intently on Jett. Something about the glow surrounding Jett caught his attention. 'That's Jett's Lumix? It's…bright' he thought, surprised.
Finn noticed Rey's expression and let out an exasperated sigh. "Ugh, those eyes again."
"Jealous?" Rey teased, snapping out of his thoughts, but Finn only rolled his eyes.
Freya's words hung heavily in the air. "If he stops… whatever he's doing…" She trailed off, her voice trembling slightly.
Rey glanced back at her, understanding the unspoken fear that lingered in the air. Whatever Jett was using to keep himself standing, it was clear he was walking a razor's edge. One slip, and the fight could turn catastrophically against him.
Evelina reached into her quiver and carefully picked out an arrow, her fingers trembling slightly as she set it against her bowstring. Just as she was about to draw, Asher's hand shot out and stopped her mid-motion.
"What are you trying to do?" Asher's voice was calm, though his expression clearly conveyed his disapproval.
"I'm trying to my friend, what does it look like?" Evelina sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly in defeat as she glanced at Jett struggling against the king.
The group stared at her like she had just lost her mind.
"Didn't you see what happened last time?" Asher asked, trying to keep his composure but unable to mask the concern in his voice.
"Are you trying to get him killed?" Freya asked sharply, her tone edged with panic.
"Well yeah, but I'm trying to help him," Evelina replied, her voice more resolute now, her eyes narrowing with determination.
"By repeating the same mistake twice? That doesn't sound like a smart choice," Marcella chimed in casually, though her gaze was just as sharp.
Evelina turned to Asher, locking eyes with him. "Asher, do you trust me?"
Her intense gaze bore into his, and he could feel the raw determination behind her words. It wasn't recklessness; it was conviction. She was pleading with him silently, asking him to have faith.
"I trust you," Asher finally said, releasing her hand. "Do what you must."
Evelina smiled, a brief but grateful expression, before focusing her attention back on the battlefield. She set her arrow again, her grip steady.
"I hope you know what you're doing," Freya pouted, crossing her arms, though the worry in her voice was undeniable.
Evelina took a deep breath, calming her nerves, and took aim at the king once more.

[Dummy Shot]
The arrow flew, and just as before, Jett caught it mid-air, his body instinctively shielding against the blow. But Evelina had anticipated this, and her real shot, hidden in the first's shadow followed just moments after, flying straight toward the king's face.
The second arrow struck its mark, hitting the king right on his face. Just as it connected, Evelina felt a sudden, sharp force slam into her face, pushing her back several steps.
"Evelina!" the group shouted, rushing to her side as she stumbled, a bright red trickle of blood running down from her nose.
"I'm fine," she insisted, brushing them off despite the pain. Her voice was firm, even as Asher helped her steady herself. "The bigger issue right now is figuring out how to counter the skill he's using right now."
"You figured it out with just that?" Morrigan asked incredulously while she and Marcella checked Evelina over for injuries.
Evelina nodded, wincing slightly as she wiped her nose. "He's reflecting any attack sent at him back to the attacker, but at 100% of its original power."
The group exchanged worried glances, realizing the magnitude of the situation. The king's ability wasn't just powerful it was a deadly counter to anyone reckless enough to attack him without a plan. At least now what happened with Jett finally make's sense.
