Sky-cracking Rider

Chapter 427 Section 423 - Entry

"These guys… really are idiots beyond belief!"

Tanya Ilyin Alexandrovna held her forehead.@@novelbin@@

Chen Fei and Mao Mei exchanged glances and simultaneously sighed, both lamenting the other's lack of intelligence.

In the icy, snow-covered wilderness, being shot and losing blood meant certain death, especially with ricocheting bullets that caused even more horrific wounds.

The gunfire soon ceased.

Men lying haphazardly on the ground, continuously moaning and wailing, made the group realize that this behemoth in front of them was a real armored vehicle, where even the window glass was armored, tough enough to easily deflect bullets.

They dragged away the wounded and the armed personnel surrounding the mobile base vehicle dispersed.

"Those guys are going for something even more powerful."

Tanya, sensing something wrong, warned Chen Fei.

She was still too late; as soon as her words trailed off, a dull thud was heard, and the entire mobile base vehicle shuddered violently, a web of cracks about a foot in diameter appearing right at the center of the windshield.

The external attackers had used man-portable anti-armor weapons, but failed to penetrate the windshield of the mobile base vehicle.

"Too bad!"

Chen Fei shook his head and snapped his fingers.

The foot-square web of cracks visibly disappeared at a rapid pace, or more accurately, healed itself.

The windows were double-layered; the outer layer was transparent metal, and the inner was the actual bulletproof glass.

The body armor was layered with a hardened surface, followed by elastic armor, another layer of hardened surface, and another layer of elastic armor, a multi-layered sandwich of composite armor incorporating platinum group metals and rare earth elements.

For manufacturers skilled in industrial mass production, the armor design of this mobile base vehicle was simply a cost nightmare. The military might applaud it, but the manufacturers would certainly avoid it, suffering a loss down to their last penny.

However, for Chen Fei, it was no issue at all; the self-repairing armor was already an overpowered feature on the battlefield.

Clang!

The vehicle shuddered violently again.

The mobile base vehicle took another hit.

The people outside were all dumbfounded, the vehicle's resilience far beyond imagination.

It is only fair to respond when attacked; one cannot always let offense go unreturned, right?

Thus, Chen Fei decided to give orders.

"'Adam,' reverse and ram those two vehicles behind, then hit the ones in front."

The hulking mobile base vehicle, comparable in size to a locomotive's head, began reversing, directly ramming into the two large trucks behind. The heavily armed men were terrified and hurriedly dodged away. Before they could react, they heard a huge bang; one big truck was smashed into pieces, and then another's front crumbled in completely.

With a total weight close to eighty tons, the giant was quite like a train head; the covered trucks were as fragile as paper models, instantly shattered, with even engines flying out. Had the vehicle fuel had a lower ignition point, able to ignite in normal and low temperatures, it would likely have exploded into flames upon impact.

Even so, an oven inside one of the truck beds sparked a fire which successfully lit the canvas, with flames stubbornly rising.

The mobile base vehicle paused slightly, then surged forward, causing more shouts and frantic scrambling.

After all, if one did not dodge in time, they were likely to be crushed into a pancake by the vehicle's wheels.

The people finally seemed to guess what the enormous machine intended and yelled themselves hoarse, telling the two trucks to escape quickly—but sadly, it was too late.

The mobile base vehicle, accelerating rapidly in a manner that belied its actual weight, rammed into and scattered the third vehicle, followed by the fourth, and then drove off without looking back.

All four trucks were thus smashed into utter scrap.

The mobile base vehicle, in autopilot mode, headed east. Chen Fei sat calmly in the carriage, drinking post-dinner tea. Outside, darkness enveloped everything, leaving only the glow of fire rising from the road behind, growing more distant.

The crackling of gunfire bade a noisy farewell as the mobile base vehicle continued on its way.

"Aren't you going to kill them?"

Tanya was puzzled that Chen Fei hadn't delivered a lethal blow, baffled by the former most ferocious Clan Leader of the Neanderthal tribe's sudden show of mercy.

Normally, all should have been crushed under the wheels; after all, no human legs could outrun a vehicle's wheels on a snowfield with nowhere to hide, nowhere to escape, certain death being inevitable.

Perhaps after driving a distance, using the railgun to fire a heavy shell would annihilate everyone at once.

But looking at Chen Fei now, still indifferent, he seemed quite unwilling to do so.

"No, I already killed them!"

Chen Fei turned his head and looked outside the vehicle, where the lights illuminated the vast snowy area, and a faint glow flickered on the distant horizon, the temperature outside began to plummet sharply.

The desolate Siberian tundra would be the burial ground for that gang.

"Killed them?"

Tanya followed Chen Fei's gaze out of the vehicle and suddenly shivered with cold, a chill rising in her heart.

Sure enough, it was the most ferocious clan leader, who treated human life as casual as a meal, the gang staying amidst the ice and snow had no villages ahead, no shops behind, lacking fuel and food, and no cold-protection facilities, probably couldn't last even a night.

Heavy snow sealed the roads, with transport across the snow-covered frozen ground nearly cut off, it wouldn't be surprising if no vehicle passed by for three to five days.

Although these people weren't killed on the spot, they had already been added to the Grim Reaper's list for soul reaping.

Chen Fei said, "There should be none left behind!"

This kind of blatant armed highway robbery should not happen too many times. Discover stories with My Virtual Library Empire

Having dealt with this gang, this highway should be peaceful for a long time.

On its way to the border of the Border Region, the Mobile Base Vehicle encountered fifteen highway robberies, proving Chen Fei was a bit too optimistic; as for whether it's related to 'Sacred Advent' or 'Water Bear,' there is no clue or evidence for now.

Simple log roadblocks were child's play, hardcore ones directly buried landmines, and those were anti-tank mines, with a bang, at least one set of five wheels would fly off.

Even an old man or woman would drive up in a tractor, one second they'd be smiling kindly, the next they'd throw a Hand Grenade, and then a burst from the heavy machine gun in the old woman's hands felt like being engulfed in a sea of the people; enemies were everywhere, among men and women, young and old.

It wasn't that the elderly had turned bad, but that the bad had grown old.

It was all because the Emperor was too far away, and the Siberian tundra was just too vast, beyond the reach of local law enforcement.

Even if the police were called out, it would take half a day to arrive, or even two days wouldn't be strange; by the time they reached the place, the dishes might have cooled down — often gone completely, giving criminals ample time to methodically destroy corpses, clear all evidence, and then easily abscond, continuing to evade the law.

Attackers are buried by Earth earth, and defenders are stopped by Water water.

Chen Fei was not the least bit polite; he directly destroyed or shattered the attackers' vehicles, then left them to fend for themselves in the icy wilderness, survival was up to Lady Luck's grace, but Lady Luck never gave such favors.

Thanks to procedures handled in advance by the Blue Star Global United Defense Committee, the Mobile Base Vehicle faced no hindrance when crossing the national border, easily obtaining clearance.

Chen Fei was a native resident, and Xiao Jiu was also registered locally as a Magical Beast, legally enjoying corresponding citizen rights; coming back into the country didn't require much process, just fingerprints and paw prints were enough.

The only thing needing complete papers was the Mobile Base Vehicle carrying ammunition, which needed a license plate to legally hit the road, especially as it had not only a Railgun but also ten unused Demolition Bombs; it couldn't behave as unrestrainedly as in the Tunguska Region.

But as soon as they passed customs, Tanya was taken away by Homeland Security.

'Sacred Advent' and 'Water Bear' are global enemies, it's natural for Homeland Security to arrest her.

Moreover, her constant presence with Chen Fei provided several inconveniences; without an official title, words could not flow smoothly, crossing the national border to another sovereign's territory this time was also for her personal safety, at least being a defector witness, her life was somewhat guaranteed, not to be discarded after losing her utility.

Though she could avoid the death penalty, she couldn't escape a lengthy prison sentence, which was the result even though there were no lives on her hands; if she had been implicated in murder, she might have been in for a life sentence.

Having been handcuffed and injected with a Supernatural Ability Suppressant, Tanya Ilyin Alexandrovna actually breathed a sigh of relief, compliantly getting into another vehicle; this outcome had been predetermined from the start, and if it were to come to shooting, it wouldn't have waited until now.

Having prison food to eat was actually quite fortunate; if she had worse luck, had been targeted by the 'Sacred Advent' organization, and strong agents were sent to intercept and silence her, she might have lost her life on the way.

As the Homeland Security vehicle carrying her away disappeared into the distance, Chen Fei pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

After a brief moment, the call connected.

"Chen Fei, why do you have time to call me?"

The voice on the other end was Teacher Shen Fei, filled with surprise.

Since Chen Fei had left Aircrew Base to perform field missions, there had been no news of him, which made her slightly worried.

After all, Chen Fei's work was not strictly logistic, and it was uncertain what dangers might occur any day.

The last time she saw Chen Fei's figure was on television, his cold declaration left Teacher Shen speechless, how could he abruptly go to Yangzhou Continent and become the clan leader of the Neanderthal tribe, and especially the most ferocious clan leader.

The reasons behind this were naturally not enough for others to discuss, but one thing was sure, Chen Fei was definitely not a Neanderthal, not even a mixed-breed.

Chen Fei said with a smile, "I just returned to the country, crossed the national border, and I'm technically on paid leave. I heard you're working at Northern Weapons Industry, so I thought I might as well come visit."

Heading south from the Far East Frontier District, he would reach the northern homeland, where not only was Teacher Shen Fei working at the Northern Weapons Industry, but his younger sister Chen Meng was also studying at Northern Industrial University; how coincidental indeed.
