Soccer System: All the Skills, One Player!

Chapter 183 - 182 - Real Madrid U20

The cameras were positioned at different angles on the impeccable main pitch at Ciudad Real Madrid.

The commentators of the official broadcast began their introduction to the game: @@novelbin@@

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to a duel that promises to be historic! On one side, the mighty Real Madrid Under-20s, a team full of talent and heirs to the great Merengue school. On the other, Brighton, a surprising team that has shown quality and enviable determination."

"Exactly, Paul! Real Madrid plays technical soccer, based on possession and constant movement. Led through the middle by Óscar Rodríguez, a creative player with a keen eye for goal, and with Achraf Hakimi on the wing, a natural speedster who loves to support the attack, this team is dangerous in any area of the pitch. Not to mention Borja Mayoral, a lethal center-forward in the box. Brighton has shown impressive growth in England’s domestic league and here in the Champions League too, with a style of play that values passing and tactical intelligence. Lucas Tanaka’s leadership in midfield will be crucial in balancing the match."

The images showed the players positioning themselves, the final greetings between the teams and the referee checking the details before the whistle blew.

Oscar and Lucas Tanaka stared at each other for a moment. Real Madrid won the toss and had the ball to kick off.

"Everything is ready! The anticipation is huge, the players are ready, and the referee allows the start of the game!" announced the narrator as Hakimi rolled the ball to Óscar Rodríguez.

Immediately, Real Madrid began their style of play, exchanging quick passes between defenders Manu Hernando and Álex Martín before the ball went out to the right wing and then back into midfield. The two teams were already mixing it up on the pitch.

Óscar Rodríguez received the ball in midfield, raised his head and quickly found Martín Calderón, who spun around Felix’s marking and set up Achraf Hakimi in the right wing.

The Moroccan Hakimi’s speed was a familiar weapon, and he advanced to try to gain ground on Aidan.

Lucas Tanaka, aware of the movement, shouted to his teammates,

"Close the gaps! Don’t make any passes!"

Brighton was undeterred. The defensive line, led by Luiz Fernando and Daniel Riber, stood firm, blocking the lines of passing.

Hakimi tried a low pass to Mayoral inside the box, but Luiz deflected the ball wide with a precise drink.

Real Madrid started again with a quick throw-in. Sergio Reguilón received the ball and exchanged passes with Óscar, trying to lure Brighton into pressing.

Lucas sensed his opponents’ intentions and signaled for his teammates to hold on, avoiding giving them space to infiltrate. It was a clever move, as it forced the Spaniards to move the ball around without progressing up the pitch.

The match showed signs of being intense from the start. However, the first proper opportunity came in the sixth minute, when Real Madrid played a quick passing attacking move.

Óscar Rodríguez, with his characteristic keen vision, played a vertical pass to Borja Mayoral, who was breaking in. The Real Madrid striker received the ball with his back to the defense, but soon realized the pressure from Luiz Fernando and Daniel Riber, who gave him no room to play easily.

"I’m surrounded!" Mayoral shouted, pivoting and returning the ball to Oscar.

Oscar got hold of the ball and saw the chance to set up Hakimi on the wing, who was already surging forward. The pass was precise and Hakimi, with his impressive speed, shot down the right side of the pitch, passing Aidan with unusual agility.

However, it was Luiz Fernando, once again, who appeared to block the advance.

"This is our place!" Luiz Fernando shouted, intercepting Hakimi’s attempted cross with a neat dink.

The referee quickly signaled that Hakimi’s pass deflected onto the end line, and the referee awarded Real Madrid a corner kick.

The Spanish side’s pressure was bothering the Brighton defense, but the back line was well positioned and didn’t give away any calm spaces.

Reguilón, who played a short ball, took the corner to Óscar Rodríguez. The midfielder played the ball gently back to Reguilón, who crossed into the area. The ball traveled high, but was well marked with the eyes of Daniel Riber and Luiz Fernando.

Borja Mayoral, however, got ahead of everyone and attempted a header deflection when he jumped high. The ball, however, was well saved by Anton, who stretched out with an impressive save.

"Good save, Anton!" shouted Javier from midfield as he watched closely.

Real Madrid were showing their strength, but Brighton’s defense, led by Luiz Fernando and Daniel, was behaving in exemplary fashion.

"Stay alert! We can’t let them create so many chances!" Lucas shouted to Felix and Javier, who were further forward, supporting the defense.

Brighton was undeterred. The team was structured and unwilling to give Real Madrid space to attack. In the ninth minute, Brighton’s first move finally came.

Lucas Tanaka played a quick pass to Javier in midfield. Javier got the ball under his feet and calmly played a quick pass to Felix, who was free on the left. Felix, a midfielder of technical ability, quickly made the pass to Raphael, Brighton’s left winger, who had moved a little into the middle.

Raphael pulled out and started running. When he saw the opposing right-back approaching to mark him, he raised his head and saw Miguel, the winger, making a diagonal run into the box. Without thinking twice, Raphael made a long pass to Miguel, who was already between the Real Madrid defense.

Miguel took the ball on his chest and played it forward. An opposing defender appeared as he was setting up a shot, but he used the leg with which he was going to shoot to dribble and dab the ball to play it a little further forward.

Miguel’s dribble was perfect, but the Real Madrid defense wasn’t willing to make it easy. He prepared to shoot and defender Álex Martín unexpectedly appeared to disarm him with a shot that sent the ball wide.

"Well done, Álex!" cried Óscar Rodríguez, relieved.

Real Madrid’s two starting defenders, Álex Martín and Manu Hernando, were looking assured. The pressure on Brighton’s attack wasn’t even enough to make them break a sweat.

Álex was a powerful defender with an impressive reading of the game, who dominated the defensive sector. Manu, on the other hand, had excellent anticipation and knew how to deal with dangerous situations calmly. Other big clubs had already scouted both and were in the process of maturing, but their talent was undeniable.

The ball kicked with force surprisingly didn’t go out. A Real Madrid player picked it up before it went out of play, and the ball was returned to Óscar Rodríguez, who quickly distributed it to Reguilón on the left wing.

Reguilón was the player who controlled the game on the wing, and when he saw Brighton was still coming back, he quickly set Hakimi up on the right.

Hakimi, with his physical explosiveness, once again launched himself towards the back line, looking to destabilize Aidan’s marking.

"Don’t let him through, Aidan! Close it down!" Felix shouted.

Hakimi looked like an indomitable bull, but Aidan was a fast player, too.

When Hakimi tried to dribble past him, Aidan was assertive in his marking and disarmed the full-back with an underhand cut.

The game was unfolding in an interesting dynamic. While Real Madrid tried to dominate possession and create attacking moves, Brighton defended rigorously and waited patiently for their chances.

"Felix, get in a better position! We need more presence in the middle!" Lucas shouted, watching as Real Madrid tried to guess his moves.

Felix, who was further up the pitch, quickly repositioned himself. He was the midfielder who supported Lucas, but he also knew when to get forward to help the attack.

When the ball arrived at Felix’s feet, he immediately made a quick pass to Javier, who was further forward. Javier played the ball with precision to Raphael, who, as always, was moving intelligently, looking for space. With the ball at his feet, Raphael sprinted towards the goal, trying to pull back his marker to open up a gap.

After another unsuccessful attack, it didn’t take long for Real Madrid to win the ball back after Raphael misplaced a pass.

Oscar Rodriguez picked up the ball and played a quick pass to Borja Mayoral, who had come a little closer to make Brighton’s offside line go up as well.

However, Mayoral had barely touched the ball when the blockade of Brighton defenders appeared in front of him once again and took the ball away from his feet.

Brighton’s tactic was clear against Mayoral: simply don’t let him play.

"Impressive! Brighton’s defense has come a long way recently!" said narrator Paul, the commentator, amazed at Brighton’s defense. "Before, the inconsistency of Brighton’s defense was their major problem. Now, it can be their biggest strength against opponents who are as well-organized and talented in midfield as Brighton!"
