Chapter 368: Chapter 367: War Fortress

In front of Rapid Wood Tower, Ivan finished packing up the remaining items and led his entourage out the tower’s main gates. Before departing, he took one last look at the place where he had lived for many years.

“Inspector, if you can’t bear to leave, I could preserve it for you,” someone said.

“No need, I alone wouldn’t need so much space. Leave it for an elder who does,” he replied.

That day marked his move to a new residence. Not even allowing himself a few seconds to reflect, a giant Space-type bat-manta soared towards them carrying Angus and Mendenez.

“Indeed, once you’ve moved there, you won’t even give this place a second glance,” Angus stated without insisting, then added, “You’re moving out from my School of Space’s territory, so I’ve brought Elder Mendenez to send you on your way.”

“That makes it sound like I’m no longer part of the School of Space,” Ivan said somewhat speechlessly to the Vice President.

“Hahaha, come on up, there are people waiting for us on the other side. It would be rude to arrive late,” Angus laughed out loud.

“Inspector Lord, Mendenez pays his respects,” the elder greeted.

“You all—one after another—why so formal? We’ve seen plenty of each other these days,” Ivan said.

As they talked, the bat-manta flapped its fins and soared upwards, directly entering the high skies, blatantly disregarding the no-fly restrictions of East Capital.

Clearly, Angus was one of the few in East Capital with the privilege to fly at high altitudes.

Soon, the bat-manta arrived over the target neighborhood with the group, quickly heading towards the central location.

This was the 85th block in the 1st District.

A five-story tower came into their field of view.

Around the tower shone an enigmatic glow of elements, dazzling and splendid, lending the tower an extraordinary and otherworldly aura, undoubtedly the distinctive air of a true sorcerer tower.

Below the sorcerer tower, two sorceresses had just arrived, timing their arrival perfectly.

“This is Dorothy, the City Lord’s Internal Affairs Officer.”

“And this is Ivan Marichardon, the esteemed scholar from East Capital, Ivan.”

Dorothy, a trusted aide of City Lord Philomina and a Level 3 Sorceress, had specifically come to hand over the sorcerer tower to Ivan and had a number of matters to inform the new master of the tower.

“Scholar Marichardon—”

“Just ‘Sorcerer Ivan’ will do,” he interrupted.

After the introductions, Dorothy wasted no time on pleasantries and led the group straight into the tower.

“Sorcerer Ivan, sorcerer towers come in two types: the standard and the war-ready. Your tower has been outfitted according to the requirements for war, making it a fortress in its own right,” she explained.

“The first two floors might look ordinary, but when necessary, they can transform into an infernal prison, utterly annihilating any intruders.”

“The top three floors have been expanded in space internally, with an area much larger than they appear from outside, especially the fourth floor—it’s comparable to half of a small city.”

As there were outsiders present, Dorothy simply led them upstairs, briefly outlining the features as if they were breezing through.

The sorcerer tower had five floors in total, from the bottom up.

The first floor, which was the very bottom, served as a guarded passageway with alchemy puppets, along with a spread of elemental traps. @@novelbin@@

The second floor housed miscellaneous items, servants, and animal servants.

The third floor contained a conservatory, breeding grounds, and a nursery.

Fourth Floor: High-Energy Experimental Area, Energy Particle Pool, Large-Scale Testing Ground, Core Control Room, Internal Meditation Chambers, etc.

Fifth Floor: External Meditation Chambers, Outer Defense Control Room, Docking Area, Bedrooms, Reception Rooms, and more.

Just as she said, the upper three floors underwent spatial expansion, the fourth floor being the most substantially expanded in terms of area, followed by the third floor, where space was expanded in the botanical garden and breeding grounds.

The fifth floor also included an expanded area, namely the Docking Area, which was used for docking airships.

“This is the Lanque, the great scholar can use it for traveling in the future.”

A little while later, they arrived at the last location that had gone through spatial expansion, where they saw a small, luxurious-looking airship docked. It was only upon Dorothy’s explanation that they knew it was the ‘Lanque.’

Evidently, the Lanque was a high-class ‘bird-shaped’ airship, without a hot-air balloon, equipped with a small-scale energy particle pool and driven by a composite runes sorcery array when traveling.

“This won’t do, this won’t do; this is far too extravagant for you to provide,” Ivan could tell it was costly, promptly trying to refuse.

“But you can’t say that, Sorcerer Ivan. After all, you are one of us and one of the rare great scholars of the East Capital, representing the face of the East Capital when abroad. Naturally, only a high-end airship is fitting for your status,” Dorothy said with determination.

Seeing her resolve, Ivan did not continue to refuse.

Subsequently, with Dorothy’s assistance, Ivan took over the full control of the sorcerer tower.

“Sorcerer Ivan, what do you plan to name this tower? I would like to note it down properly when I return.”

“Rapid Wood Tower.”

“Good name, I’ve noted it down. I won’t disturb you any longer.”

Shortly after taking control of the sorcerer tower, Dorothy handed over some important items to him and left with her subordinates. Angus and Mendenez also departed after a while, leaving him more time to organize his new dwelling.

Take, for instance, the fourth floor’s element particle pools—there were a total of five: two intermediate-sized pools, corresponding to Space-type and Earth-type; and three smaller-sized pools, corresponding to water, fire, and wood types respectively.

The sorcerer tower had all kinds of functionalities: Attack range amplification, attack power enhancement, strong defense layers, powerful binding force fields, potent purification force fields, sealing devices, and so on.

It was also possible to store a powerful spell in the Crystal Ball inside the core control room and use it as a template. Using the energy from the particle pool as consumption, this spell could be cast frequently.

On ordinary days, the Rapid Wood Tower was part of the large formation enveloping the East Capital, playing a role in adjusting and sorting out the Formation.

When the East Capital faced war, the Rapid Wood Tower could transform into a ‘semi-airship’ mode and fly to the outer parts of the city under the support of the great formation, becoming a steadfast defender of the East Capital.

“So the grand formation that envelops the entire East Capital is named ‘the Earth to Heaven Great Formation,’ primarily utilizing powers of the space and earth types. The Rapid Wood Tower controls a part of the formation’s authority.”

“‘Semi-airship’ mode? Such flight speed is too slow, too cumbersome; it can only be maneuvered with the pull of the grand formation’s power.”

Only after truly understanding the foundations of the Rapid Wood Tower did Ivan realize that Dorothy’s claim of it being comparable to a war fortification was accurate. When necessary, the Rapid Wood Tower could indeed become the strongest defense of the East Capital.

To construct a standard sorcerer tower without cuts, a large sorcerer family would have to expend the effort of the entire family and at least a century’s accumulation.

A tower designed for war, however, could not be constructed solely through accumulation.

Quite a significant amount of spatial expansion had taken place inside the Rapid Wood Tower. Therefore, one could imagine that building such a war fortification must have consumed an immense amount of resources and technology.
