Sorcerer: I want to be an Academic Prodigy

Chapter 423 - 422: Protecting the Young Calf

Chapter 423: Chapter 422: Protecting the Young Calf

Another week passed, and the Lanque returned to East Blade City.

In front of Rapid Wood Tower, Dorothy left Ivan with a sentence before she disembarked the airship and headed towards the City Lord’s Residence.

“Sorcerer Ivan, you don’t have much time left to consider, I hope you can make a decision soon.”

“Sorcerer Dorothy, I wish you well without sending you off.”

Their words were not transmitted through a spell, Angus on the deck heard everything crystal clear, and immediately guessed the implications, looking towards Ivan with some worry.

“The President still hasn’t made contact, we’ll talk about other matters once he does,” Ivan said, his expression unchanged.

...

“Either way, the East Capital Enchantment Guild will always be your support,” Angus said. Despite his desire to attain the favor of power, he wouldn’t actively cross certain boundaries.

It has to be said that, apart from a few Enchanters, the guild’s internal atmosphere was always well-maintained.

Ivan felt warmed by these words.

On the fifth day after returning to the East Capital, Ivan finally met Chairman Hardy Charosi in person, a figure who still emanated an extraordinary presence, like a wise old Sage out of legendary stories.

“Good morning, Chairman Hardy, sorry to disturb you.”

“You’re in such a hurry to see me; could it be that someone bullied you?” Hardy dropped his elegance as soon as he began speaking. “Tell me, who was the shameless one? I’ll go block his door and have a word with him.”

“No— No, I have some important results to report.” His words nearly overwhelmed Ivan.

“Are you sure? Although I told you to focus more on your research last time, you don’t need to rush so. We sorcerers can’t measure our time by the standards of ordinary people,” Hardy said with some suspicion.

“Of course.”

“Right, the time of a genius also can’t be measured by that of a regular sorcerer.”

“You flatter me too much, President.”

These words made Ivan somewhat embarrassed, especially because the person before him had a profound and unfathomable mastery over Enchantment that people could only look up to with respect.

He didn’t dare delay any longer, proceeding to recount the event once more to ensure the President was fully aware of the situation.

Hearing of such significant innovation, Hardy was pleasantly surprised and also developed a keen interest.

He immediately inquired about the related questions to the Formation: What was the core idea behind creating this Formation? What was the new Formation’s name? Which areas of knowledge did it mainly involve?

——

At that moment, Chairman Hardy looked more like an old Enchantment Master obsessed with knowledge of Formations.

Ivan didn’t feel that the President was coveting his work.

Through Hotter’s disclosures, he knew more clearly about the President’s status; the President was actually one of the “Great Sages” in the sorcerer world.

Like a great scholar, a Great Sage was also a special position, synonymous with intelligence and wisdom.

Currently, there were only five Great Sages in the entire sorcerer world, among whom two were Level 5 Sorcerers. This meant that only three individuals, including Hardy Charosi, had ascended to the position of Great Sage with the power of a Level 4 Sorcerer.

Sometimes, during the supreme council’s discussions involving the four great heads, they would invite Chairman Hardy to participate and offer suggestions.

Hotter even mentioned that Chairman Hardy was one of the most likely among all Level 4 Sorcerers to advance to the Level 5 tier, holding an extraordinary position within the sorcerer world.

With such strength, potential, and wisdom, Ivan naturally didn’t need to harbor any doubts.

“Good! I did not expect you to reach this level of understanding in Enchantment. Among the Enchantment Masters I’ve encountered, your achievement ranks at the very top, well-deserved of being first or second.”

“Thank you, Mr. President, for your guidance.”

After a session of knowledge exchange, Hadi looked at him with increasingly satisfied eyes.

Ivan himself benefited immensely. With the President’s casual pointers, many of the issues that puzzled him suddenly became clear. No wonder the ancients left such a saying, “Listening to a wise man’s words can be more instructive than reading ten years’ worth of books.”

Indeed, that saying was no lie. When he returned to ponder more, the Black Demon Fire Cocoon Array could probably incorporate a few more runes bundles, enhancing its power even further.

Chairman Hadi was, without doubt, one of the people with the highest Enchantment expertise in the sorcerer world, truly among the very best.

While he was reflecting on this, he heard Chairman Hadi speak with a calm voice, filled with domineering words.

“The guild’s rules allow no rebuttal. An enchanter’s invention belongs to the enchanter personally. You just go back with peace of mind. I’ll handle this matter, and no one will come looking for trouble with you.”

Hearing such protective words, Ivan didn’t know what to say.

However, given the corrupting influence of benefits and his own lesser strength compared to some sorcerers, this was akin to a child wandering through a bustling market with gold in hand. Even with Chairman Hadi’s promise, it’s best to fear the unexpected because, if someone took a desperate risk, his life could be in jeopardy.

It’s not that he didn’t trust Chairman Hadi.

After all, even Level 5 Sorcerers have betrayed the sorcerer world, what other people could not turn traitor? The sorcerer world is not as harmonious as it seems on the surface.

“Mr. President, regarding the power of patronage, I still have some doubts.”

“Speak.”

“If I teach this Formation to others and they use it to help the Alien Race become official sorcerers to obtain the power of patronage, can I receive a share from it?”

After obtaining the President’s consent, Ivan relayed the suggestions of Hotter.

In his view, the power of patronage was somewhat like the ‘merits’ he understood, which meant Hotter’s reasoning should be correct.

As long as he didn’t lose his share, he didn’t mind sharing the Formation.

“Based on my experience, of course, you can. But think it through,” Hadi understood his intention and didn’t interfere, providing a straightforward affirmative answer.

“I’ve thought it over. After all, it’s just a Formation, and furthermore, it’s only a part of the Formation. There’s plenty of time ahead. Just as you said before, Mr. President, the accomplishments of a genius should not be equated with those of ordinary sorcerers; an enchanter of talent has plenty of inventions throughout their life.”

After contemplating for so long and with Chairman Hadi’s clarifications, Ivan finally made up his mind.

“Ha ha ha, ambitious! I look forward to the day that happens,” laughed Chairman Hadi. He didn’t think Ivan’s words were arrogant; on the contrary, he saw them as realistic.

Exiting the seven-story sorcerer tower, Ivan finally breathed a sigh of relief. Chairman Hadi had promised to handle the matter and would coordinate it.

With the President’s involvement, he probably wouldn’t be at a disadvantage.

Before long, a Formation called ‘Black Demon Fire Silk Array’ was disclosed. Of course, it was only exposed within a small circle because ordinary people had no qualifications to access it, which included Dorothy.

Dorothy was disqualified due to her inadequate Enchantment expertise. After hearing the news, her face undoubtedly turned dark.

She tried seeking the City Lord’s help, only to be scolded by City Lord Filomina for aiming too high. @@novelbin@@

In fact, the newly disclosed Formation was not simplified at all; instead, it became even more complex. Dorothy wasn’t qualified for a reason.

This technique was specially taught by Chairman Hadi, taking an extremely simple Formation and making it complex, dramatically elevating the difficulty and preventing many from attempting to meddle.

Ivan extended an invitation to Hotter, but once again, he was rejected.

He claimed he couldn’t learn it, nor was he interested in learning it.

Ivan suggested a different approach, letting him cultivate the Alien Race while Ivan assisted in advancing them to sorcerers, which was still rejected. Ivan had no choice but to let it go.
