Sorcerer: I want to be an Academic Prodigy

Chapter 469: 468: The Spear of Division

Chapter 469: Chapter 468: The Spear of Division

Sky Flow Valley, one wave had barely settled before another arose.

As time progressed, the follow-up matters related to the Star Realm’s gate were still underway, but the fervor from earlier had died down. The discovery of the alien plane, on the other hand, hadn’t stirred up even a ripple, as if it had never occurred.

Recently, another piece of news spread throughout Sky Flow Valley and quickly caused a huge uproar.

Someone planned to start researching the teleportation array!

Initially, most people thought this news was just a rumor.

Later, more and more people stated that they had asked the person involved directly, and that sorcerer had given a definite yes, which made it hard not to believe that someone was indeed daring to meddle with the idea of the teleportation array.

...

“Is it that Sorcerer Ivan?”

“Really him, how could such news have come out? No way, he doesn’t think that after achieving some unusual successes, he has the capacity to solve problems our School of Space has failed to resolve for centuries, does he?”

“That’s too unwise!”

“Or perhaps, this is just youthful recklessness.”

Hearing this solid opinion, many people subconsciously shook their heads, lamenting how someone could be so ignorant of their limitations.

Each of the Four Major Schools had a core subject, none of which was easy to solve, especially the School of Space’s ‘teleportation array research,’ which was a problem among problems.

The difficulty of the School of Space had one characteristic—if you couldn’t do it, you just couldn’t.

This had no corresponding relationship with the control over space energy, it relied more on individual comprehension ability and personal talent in the space category.

If Level 4 and Level 5 sorcerers couldn’t solve it, what made you, a mere Level 3 Sorcerer, think you could step forward and claim so?

He must be so carried away with his own success that he had completely lost his mind.

Of course, Ivan hadn’t lost his rationality; he was simply not hiding his goal while also trying to build momentum for himself to see if he could gather some capable assistants, preferably like-minded individuals.

He certainly didn’t want to tackle the research of the teleportation array by himself.

The series of problems with the teleportation array was indeed a challenge that had plagued the School of Space for many years, and after truly delving into and assessing it, he found it to be much more difficult than he had initially estimated.

And about those who conspired with him.

Hotter, although an Arcane Wizard, had always been a half-baked researcher.

In his own words, he had even achieved his Arcane promotion in a muddled way; his operations were fierce, and then he somehow succeeded in advancing, to his own great surprise afterward.

Morris was never the researching type; he didn’t have the patience or the sensitivity.

Tanaya and Mara, what they excelled at was not related to space.

When Ivan finalized the specific plan, full of ambition and ready to allocate the respective tasks, to then receive such ‘bad news,’ he almost threw in the towel.

With such a complex big topic, you’re all just backing personnel, and I’m the only one struggling to research?

He must really be asking for a punch.

However, what he had already agreed to, he certainly would not give up so easily.

Subsequently, Ivan turned his attention to the Five Leaves Spear.

Although the Five Leaves Spear may not be esteemed by Tanaya, it actually possessed an undeniable strength, with many talented sorcerers within, including a fair number of Level 3 Sorcerers.

Hotter then told him another piece of not-so-good news—the Five Leaves Spear was not as excellent as he had imagined.

Generally speaking, the Five Leaves Spear was made up of two types of people, one being the neglected offspring of major families and the other being talented sorcerers without significant family backing.

The former had ambitions and resources, the latter had talent and drive.

This was an idea originating from Tanaya, combining these two types of people to accomplish great things, like revolutionizing all that was outdated in the sorcerer world, leading the way for sorcerers to bravely move forward and forge through difficulties.

The early days of the Five Leaves Spear went rather well.

Their style of handling things was somewhat unconventional, yet they managed to accomplish a good deal. Their reputation spread through various channels, attracting more people to join, and the organization grew larger.

When the number grew, inevitably, the quality varied.

Moreover, most offspring of major families joined the Five Leaves Spear out of respect for Tanaya’s reputation, initially harboring certain ambitions and expectations, which, over time, revealed drawbacks.

The reputation of the Five Leaves Spear started to sour.

After Tanaya realized this, she immediately took a strong measure.

She chose a talented and potential sorcerer she trusted and tried her best to train him as an Arcane Wizard, to stabilize morale and secure her position.

This was successful.

Then, things went out of control.

That person had his own ideas and, as an Arcane Wizard, began to disregard Tanaya’s directives, using the Five Leaves Spear for his own ends, plunging it into chaos.

This deeply disappointed Tanaya, causing her to lose much of her original passion for the Five Leaves Spear.

Later, Tanaya was attacked in a surprise assault and completely withdrew from the scene.

Without Tanaya’s control, that person became more uncontrollable, completely disordering the operating style of the Five Leaves Spear, and it soon fell into notoriety.

Fortunately, the members of the Five Leaves Spear continued the initial practice of using aliases in external operations, known as “Archibald’s Spear.”

After a while, due to a feeling of guilt, Hotter joined the Five Leaves Spear with force.

He tried to reform its order and bring it back on track, but unfortunately, it was too late to reverse the deeply ingrained issues. Gradually, the Five Leaves Spear split, almost splitting in two.

Since Hotter joined later, he had fewer people under him and couldn’t match the other side.

Moreover, his side had always followed a principle of voluntary and relaxed rules, and at this time, gathering people was not an easy task.

Hotter stated outright that people could be gathered, but there would be some disorder and it might attract the attention of another person who then might employ some schemes, creating unnecessary issues.

That person was always despicable and cunning.

Seeing how troublesome it was, Ivan didn’t want to make unnecessary complications and gave up on the idea of mobilizing the members of the Five Leaves Spear.

If the Five Leaves Spear was not an option, he then turned all his attention to the School of Space, as Sky Flow Valley gathered a large number of elite sorcerers from the School of Space.

However, this could potentially create a problem with his leadership.

And as for Tanaya’s credits, they must not be biased in the end and should be calculated fairly based on her current situation, which probably wouldn’t amount to much.

Weighing the more important against the less, and choosing the lesser of two evils.

To ensure that the effort for the teleportation array did not end up in vain, which could affect their plan to “save” Tanaya, Ivan and Hotter discussed and simply decided not to hide it anymore but to promote the research openly.

Once this gained enough momentum, it could also make the Fitzgerald family and the Gardner family cautious, using the momentum to buy some time.

As for letting Hotter cause a scene.

Killing a thousand enemies while losing eight hundred of your own was a measure to be used only as a last resort, best avoided if possible.
