Second Chance
His mind screamed that something was wrong, that this wasn't his life. Yet, as he sat there, feeling the rapid beat of her heart against his chest,
he realized…
This was an something he had never experienced before. Something completely, utterly foreign
"I'm fine" he said, his voice quieter than he intended
The woman pulled back, relief washing over her delicate, mature features. She was breathtaking like the noble heroines from historical dramas graceful, poised, yet visibly shaken by worry. A typical beauty in her late twenties, the kind who could steal glances in any crowd.
Before he could process more, the old man stepped forward. His long silver hair and flowing robes gave him the air of a wise scholar. With practiced movements, he placed two fingers on Wang Jie's neck, then his wrist, eyes narrowing in deep focus.
The man examined him, But something surged inside Wang Jie
His breath hitched
Memories foreign yet familiar spilled into his mind. Faces, voices, moments that weren't his yet felt as if they had always belonged to him. Faint, dreamlike, but undeniably present.
The life of his predecessor.
The person who has same name as him
'Wang Jie'
Events he had never lived were now his memories. They held no strong emotions, just shadows of a past that had once been real. It was as if he had stepped into a role that had already been written one he had yet to understand.
"Do you feel any pain?" the old man asked, his voice calm and firm.
Wang Jie shook his head
"No"
The old man stroked his beard, eyes scanning him one last time before nodding.
"He's fine Just a little weak"
With a sigh, he turned and left, with the two girls {servants}. Their curious gazes lingered for a moment before they disappeared beyond the door.
Now, only she remained.
She stepped closer, concern still clear in her eyes. "Jie, are you really okay?"
He looked at her, this beautiful woman who seemed to care so much.
"How did you suddenly become unconscious on the stairs?" she asked.
A faint dizziness still clouded his mind, the weight of new memories pressing against his thoughts.
"I'm feeling a little dizzy… Can I rest for a while?"
Her brows furrowed
"Oh! I'm so stupid, just started asking you questions"
She sighed, then smiled gently
"You should rest. I'll send something for you to eat."
With that, she turned, walking toward the door. As she stepped out, she glanced back once, then closed it softly behind her.
Yet, even as silence filled the room, her face lingered in his mind.
****
A strange smile crept onto Wang Jie's lips.
"I actually came to another world..."
The thought sent a thrill through him. The memories, the people, the unfamiliar yet luxurious surroundings. it was real.
"It was truck-kun!"
He let out a small laugh, shaking his head
"Uff! I've read way too many novels stories like this"
Excitement bubbled in his chest. He jumped up in joy only for his legs to give out beneath him.
"Ouch… this shitty Wang Jie's body!"
He groaned, collapsing back onto the soft bed, his body still weak.
Rubbing his temples, he exhaled
"My predecessor… was a real masterpiece."
He had expected tragic reasons for his death betrayal, assassination, some great injustice. But no. The memories told a different story.
The previous Wang Jie had actually died because…
"He had too much sex!"
Wang Jie sat there, stunned. Of all the ways to die in a transmigration stories, this had to be the most ridiculous.
Wang Jie leaned back against the headboard, letting the memories. They painted a vivid picture one he never expected.
The previous Wang Jie was born into the prestigious Wang Clan, one of the major clans in Jingyu City. Though part of the powerful lineage, he was merely a child of the third branch family, far from the main bloodline.
His parents? Are Gone. They had died when he was just a little, leaving him in the care of his uncle. The beautiful woman who had just visited him she was his second uncle's wife. Unfortunately became a widow.
When Wang Jie was just 7 years old when he came to know his second uncle is dead. Now, his third uncle, and fourth uncle bore the weight this third branch Wang family.
Yet, despite being raised in a noble house, his both uncle's barely paid him any attention. His relationship his uncle's quite more like good friend who rarely meet. That, however, didn't mean he had a tough life or anything…
Wang Jie let out a chuckle "This guy was spoiled to the root"
Though, this kind the life he hadn't chosen for himself but
Arrogant, Indulgent. He lived a life without restraint, drowning himself in luxury. Fine clothes, lavish feasts, and most notably his infamous hobbies.
The previous Wang Jie never cared for cultivation, never aimed to be strong. While other young masters trained in martial arts, he spent his days flirting, drinking, and enjoying the warmth of female servants. He did not even hesitated from sleeping with married womens.
His reputation? That of a villain straight out of a novel the typical spoiled young master doomed to be slapped down by some righteous protagonist.
And his death? Even more absurd.
"What a legendary way to go"
Wang Jie smirked, shaking his head.@@novelbin@@
"But I'm not going to be so different either"
Sure, he wasn't the type to throw away luxury. But if he was going to live this life, he was going to do it his way.
"This is my second life… I'm not going to repeat old mistakes"
The past him had wasted his days in meaningless indulgence, never striving for more. Never did things what he truly wished. He had lived as a fool and died as one.
"I'm going to live my life to the fullest"
[Knock] [Knock]
His thoughts were interrupted by a gentle knock at the door.
What do you think?
