Chapter 395 395: Climbing The Pagoda 2
After Elder Xu Yong finished his explanation, the doors of the Pagoda of Trials creaked open, releasing a wave of ancient energy that sent a chill down the spines of everyone present. The participants tensed, their eyes locked on the towering structure before them.
"You may now enter," Elder Xu Yong stated.
"Good luck," he added, his expression solemn.
With those words, the final stage of the Xu family tournament began.
The contestants glanced at each other, their eyes filled with determination.
"We'll see you on the other side," Xu Feiyu smirked, walking towards the Pagoda.
"Let's do this," Fang Zixuan nodded, following behind him.
"I guess this is it," Sun Yichen muttered, joining them.
The three of them led the way, entering the Pagoda.
One by one, the others followed, their expressions fierce.
The doors slowly closed behind them, sealing off the outside world.
Each and every one of them was transported into their individual trial spaces.
Inside the Pagoda, the first challenge started.
Xu Feiyu's vision cleared as he found himself standing in a vast, open clearing surrounded by thick trees. Unlike the previous rounds, this wasn't a battlefield with multiple participants—it was a private trial ground.
The ground trembled slightly, and suddenly, five Tier 3 wild beasts burst from the dense foliage, their crimson eyes glowing with savage intent. Their muscular forms were covered in thick hides, and their sharp claws glinted in the dim light.
Xu Feiyu smirked. "Beasts, huh? This should be interesting."
The audience outside leaned forward in their seats, watching the multiple holographic projections displaying different competitors' fights.
"Looks like we're going to see some action," one of the commentators remarked.
"Indeed," another replied, his voice excited. "Let's hope the top 10 can pass their trials quickly."
Xu Feiyu didn't waste any time as he vanished in a blur. His Phantom Sword Technique left afterimages as he weaved through the beasts, his blade flashing like silver lightning.
"Shattering Sword Strike!"
His first slash cut deep into the shoulder of the lead beast, sending it howling in pain.
"Piercing Moon Slash!"
Another strike carved through the side of a second beast, its massive form crashing to the ground.
The remaining creatures charged at him, their powerful bodies kicking up dust and debris. But Xu Feiyu was too fast, dodging their attacks effortlessly.
With a final flourish, his Golden Sun Blade slashed through the remaining enemies in one clean arc, leaving nothing but fading energy in their place.
A chime echoed in the air, and a floating notification appeared before him:
[Stage 1 – Complete.]
"That was easier than I expected," Xu Feiyu muttered. Without pausing, he stepped through the glowing portal ahead, moving up to the next challenge.
Across the various trial spaces, the other participants were facing their own challenges.
Fang Zixuan grinned wildly as he battled a pack of shadow wolves, his movements swift and unpredictable.
Sun Yichen unleashed fiery waves, reducing his enemies to ashes.
Lei Zhentian used his immense strength, smashing through beasts with sheer brute force.
Zhao Min moved gracefully, each of her ice spears striking with pinpoint accuracy.
The audience was enthralled.
"These kids are monsters!"
"Their techniques are too refined... they've clearly trained for this level of combat!"
"The Xu family participants are moving faster than the others!"
"The Fang and Sun families are not far behind, though."
As the battles raged on, the crowd was captivated. The commentators were doing their best to provide a play-by-play, but it was nearly impossible to keep up with the action.
"This is absolutely insane!"
"The competitors are so fast... I can barely follow what's going on!"
"Xu Yuhao and Lei Zhentian are having a difficult time, though."
Then the attention went back to Xu Feiyu, who exited the portal and appeared in another arena.
But this time, the number of Tier 3 monsters increased exponentially, but he was still able to pass them with relative ease.
That was until he reached the ninth level of the first floor of the pagoda.
Because this time, at the far end of the battlefield, a figure stood waiting.
The first human opponent.
The man's golden armor shimmered faintly, his aura exuding strength and discipline. Unlike the mindless beasts, this opponent would be fast, skilled, and tactical.
Xu Feiyu grinned. "Finally, a real fight."
The armored warrior lifted his blade, his voice deep and steady. "Your trial begins now."
Without another word, he lunged forward, his sword slicing through the air at a speed that would be lethal to an unprepared opponent.
Xu Feiyu deflected the strike with ease, his blade ringing against the opponent's like a bell. The force of the impact sent a shockwave across the battlefield.
"Not bad." Xu Feiyu shifted his stance, using his Silver Moon Step technique to make his movements more fluid.
The opponent struck again, this time aiming low, trying to force Xu Feiyu into a defensive position. But Xu Feiyu was already a step ahead.
"Phantom Sword Step!"
With unbelievable speed, he vanished and reappeared behind his enemy.
"You're too slow."
Before the opponent could react, Xu Feiyu's sword sliced through his neck, decapitating him in one smooth motion.
The man's body dissolved into particles of light, his armor clattering to the ground.
"That was a good warm-up," Xu Feiyu murmured. He turned to the glowing portal and stepped through, moving up to the second level.
Meanwhile, Fang Zixuan was fighting off a group of masked assassins, his movements agile and precise.
"You're pretty good," he smirked, blocking a strike.
"But not good enough," he added, his sword flashing.
In a blur of motion, he unleashed a series of quick strikes, easily cutting through the assassins' defenses.
The audience was riveted.
"Look at him go!"
"He's so fast... I can barely see him move!"
"Those assassins are no match for him!"
As the battles continued, the excitement grew. The commentators struggled to keep up with the action, their voices echoing through the stadium.
"These young masters are incredible!"
"Yes, they're on a whole other level compared to the previous competitors!"
What do you think?
